If lego would of done the class venator star destroyer, instead of the imperial one (www.lego.com/fr-fr/product/imperial-star-destroyer-75252) I would DEFINITELY buy it
Dude, I bought an old set to assemble for fun and for the hell of it I couldn't find out what colours to use! Thanks so much for this video, the result looks really amazing!
Hi. Just started modelling and enjoying your build videos from years gone by. Also that's great how you show the paints at the end. Very handy for everyone.
Man, i don't know why, but i just love watching your videos. Could be your voice, your talent, your way of working, or a combination, bu i could just sit for hours watching you work. You have just earned a subscriber! :D
Beautiful build, I'm so glad Revell re-released this kit as the design, scribing detail on the hull, as well as the beautiful sidewall that are just covered with highly accurate detail which if one chooses to light this kit, the design makes it easy.
Great videos! I have watched all the ones you have done for Star Wars models. I like especially how at the end of this one you lined up and went over what colors you used for the build . THANKS!
Yeah. They're pretty expensive now. But keep an eye out. I've just ordered the Imperial Class SD form Revell on Amazon for under 40 bucks instead of the 100€ !
I can remember building one of these with my father many years ago! He had done model planes and such as a child and this was my first ever attempt at a model.
Man I gotta say that effect on the base was a slick move. Crazy it didn't come with one but your take was probably better than anything included anyway.
Chili - I always love a well done static model. Neat trick for painting the engines, in fact it's one of my go to air brush techniques for doing faux lit parts. LOVE the base. I like those R2 bases, they're fantastic and ready for all kinds of customization. I think your wash came out excellent. Well done.
Heya! A Great Build! The Coruscant Base is Inspired! The Simulated Ion Engines are Superb Proving That Not Every Single Model- no matter the Scale Needs to be Lit Up!? Yeah Great! Best
This is a absolutely amazing video for me at this moment as I am planning on building one of these in minecraft. And this is one of the best videos out there with a good look at all of the different parts of the ship.
First off, Great job on the kit! Especially when nowadays everyone seems to light their kits of this type. second great idea on the stand. and last but not least great video. Straight and up to the point.
Thanks! Yeah there's a lot of people lighting their kits, which do look amazing. I like to keep them simple and complete them in a week or two, so I'm glad it's appreciated!
Informative video. I just picked up this model from FB marketplace and was a bit daunted by the very complex painting scheme/instructions. I like how you handled it all, especially since I don't own an airbrush and my paints are still 200kms (+/-) away. Just painting some ofvthe off colour panels and then washing the rest worked quite well. I figured on assembling and paintibg the model in blocks but as you showed, painting it will work well when fully assembled too. I'm in an area in "lockdown" so no stores are open - it's all online. I have to figure what I can use with spray cans and such - then go from there. I figured I'd use an old display base with metal drinking straw as the support.
Awesome, I'm glad my video helped! Well at least you can do online shopping, our lockdown limited deliveries to essential items only, so we couldn't get anything online!
NZ. For 4 weeks in April we were locked down, no takeaways, no home deliveries, only essential services were open like supermarkets and fuel. It worked though, we pretty much got rid of it and haven't been in lockdown since.
@@modelchili - Hi there - from your accent, I kind of figured that you might be from New Zealand or Australia but with the way so many people move around any location was possible. I suppose I could have dug deeper into your site but didn't. NZ has been the model of the lockdown process - congratulations! Being an island nation does help a whole lot. It helps too when your population continues to accept the need to do whatever it takes to carry out the battle against this pandemic. It has not helped Canada when we are sitting next to the biggest bomb site in the globe. That and having the longest open border between two countries doesn't help either. The official border points are closed but internet and everything else flows freely. When we all first locked down, everyone listened to what had to be done. But as time has gone on and with all the bs coming from the Excited States, there has been a large section of our people who now don't believe there's any danger - so now we are looking at even greater measures to try to control infection and death rates. Thus, the province is talking about more measures to try to control the increases in the Covid infections. We may end up having the kind of commercial restrictions your country has in place - right now you can order on line and pickup the item at the store or have it delivered (for a cost). That will not go well with those with that certain mind set - those who think we are the US or at least think we have the same kind of constitutional process in our country. Unfortunately, civics is not a popular class in schools. Anyhow, thanks for all your vids, I've been catching up on a lot of modeling sites and yours has been very entertaining. I have several of the Bandai SW kits and just trying to get back in. It is a bit of a long story...... I'll give you the "Coles Notes" version - and I know you won't have any reference to that - that's ok, it's a Canuck thing. As I said, my paints and such are 200km away. For many reasons, I used to live with my brother in a city well east of Toronto and was still building models. This was 25 years ago and then I met the lady who'd be my wife and ultimately the mom to our two daughters. Our first home was a small apt so my stuff stayed in boxes in my brother's basement. We moved into a bigger home (roughly a 2 hour drive at 120kmh) but the stuff still stayed at my brother. Well my daughters have grown up and have moved out and we are slowly starting to get rid of 22 years of kids stuff that had accumulated. I finally plan to get back into building models again. However, with the pandemic restrictions, we are actively discouraged from traveling unless fro work or the essentials like food and such (but there is alot of grey areas in this that would easily take an hour to describe - LOL). My brother has health issues that could compromise him if I accidently brought it into his house. He lives alone and so he hasn't allowed anyone to visit him since last March when we all started this fun. Thus I have to start building a new inventory of paints again until I can back there. Sorry for taking so much of your time. Thanks again for the vids, they are very helpful. Take care and keep well. Hopefully all will be back to relatively normal by the end of this year and we can get paints and other supplies without any problem!
I know I am late to this party, and this seems like a reasonably old kit now... but the relative ease with which is goes together (perhaps you just make it look easy) astounds me. The last time I made a kit, it was the old AMT/Ertl Enterprise and it was a right pig to put together and that has put me off building anything for many years, however watching some of your videos has inspired me to try again with some thing a little bit newer :-) Cheers!
You should! New kits fit a lot better and have far fewer defects and issues. This one was pretty easy and straightforward to assemble, most of the work goes into painting.
Fantastic work! thanks so much for making these STAR WARS build videos and sharing your techniques. The ships look amazing and the clips are very informative. I cant wait to start my Venator-class RSD this weekend and using these paint techniques. Would be helpful if you can tell us the brush sizes as you're choosing them please? I know you mention tools at the end, but if you can mention the brush size as you're choosing it, like you do with the paints, that would be really helpful...just a suggestion :) Keep em coming! Thanks!
Cheers! I could, but to be completely honest I probably wouldn't even know what my brush sizes are. I just go with whatever I think will work. I'm not very technical. :)
Thanks for your help, I had it since ten plus years. I used the same colors, it looks really great. I'm very prout of it, I haven't paid for a long time, your guide was really helpfull !

I've only tried the Tamiya Clear (from the pot) and Vallejo Gloss clear and didn't get very good results with either, that's why when I tried out the Tamiya spray and it worked I just stuck with it. I've not tried Model Master unfortunately. I suggest just experimenting with old kits or spare parts, you'll find a solution eventually. :)
A list of all the paints used can be seen at 28:06. Thanks for watching!
ModelChili Scale Models nice video
can you please make a comparison of the imperial star destroyer and this one? Im not sure which one i should buy
ModelChili Scale Models Dude you sound to much like a clone trooper.
cool
Can you send links to where I can buy the paints or can you just list them out?
Rare uncovered footage of Kuat Drive Yards employee building a Venator class Star Destroyer for the Galactic Republic (Circa 10 BBY)
You've exposed my secret! D:
not how time works in SW but you did a do
....Sadly 10 BBY was the Galactic Empire, not the Galatic Republic. oops.. Did I correct something? lol
what? he didn't make a mistake
Patrick Martel Mmm he did though lol
I really like the Venator class ships, they are my favorite prequal era ship.
In my opinion they are the best capital ships for any scenario
they definitely look the best
If lego would of done the class venator star destroyer, instead of the imperial one (www.lego.com/fr-fr/product/imperial-star-destroyer-75252) I would DEFINITELY buy it

I like the Executor SSD imo
The engines look great, as does the detailing. Your painting really made the model not seem so inexpensive and flat for certain. Cheers mate.
Thank you!

Looks like it just came out of the Shipyards of Kuat Drive Yards.
This guy sounds like a clone.
Slipps Dungeon he’s from New Zealand what’d you expect
He's probably a 🥝 like how all the clones are 🥝.
He’s probably is a clone and that’s why he’s building the Venator
I went looking in the comments to see if anyone else noticed
He sound like the narrator of the 501st but he’s aged
Your idea for the stand is great, and so well executed.

I loved how it looked with all of the wash on the panels and all over the model.
