Hi Richard, Another great video of what it's really like to ride a DIY Audax 👍 Sorry it wasn't the outcome you'd hoped for though. Have you considered using your house as a sleep stop on a DIY 600? Lots of advantages such as chunking ride into 2 'smaller' circuits, having a meal of choice ready in fridge you can microwave, shower, sleep in your own bed for a few hours, being inside during coldest part of night, clean change of clothes for 2nd leg, etc. Only downside I find is you've got to really drag yourself out of a cosy warm bed for the 2nd leg! Used my house like this for the winter 600s on my SRRtY and it really made a big difference. Enjoy the upcoming calendar events and look forward to finding out what the trip idea you referred to is. Regards, Andy
@@biking261 we used a logistics strategy called 'Starbursting' (micro hub & spoke) at Royal Mail as the loads got heavier and the rounds became longer. It was a game changer! Just adapted that to my longer DIY Audax rides 😊
Hi Richard, +1 for Andy's advice, I rode a 600km last weekend for my SR and used my home as a 'Luxury' overnight Audax control splitting the ride into 2x300km. I did consider 700km DIY, splitting the ride into 3x235km to take advantage of the extra time allowance for 700km-1200km events. All the best for your future Audax endeavours and keep the content coming, I look forward to your next video. Regards Julian
Hi Julian, You and Andy have planted a seed! I have an idea and two weekends between now and the end of October that I could execute that plan. It really was a facepalm moment when Andy suggested it and you have confirmed it, why didn't I think of that before! doh! the bit I haven't been saying is this would be my 10th SR and really wanted to do it consecutively. A crumb of hope remains!! thanks to you and Andy.
