The Quinn/Phillips partnership was one of the greatest I have ever seen supporting the club. That whole team brought joy to the area. We couldn't wait for the next game.
Such a gentleman Niall is & what a player, he & Phillips brought me the best times supporting the lads in my lifetime, the money he donated to Sunderland Royal Hospital from his Testimonial shows the bloke he really is, Love you Niall
Arise Sir Niall. My children and their children will be told stories of this fantastic footballer and even better gentleman. Forever grateful for all he has done for the football club and the city as a whole. Absolute legend.
1998-99 season was one of the best in the club's history. Quinn played a massive part in that and also stabilising us in the Premier League for three seasons. It was no coincidence that we were relegated when he retired because we just couldn't replace him up front.
We loved (and still do) Quinny in this household. Great player for us and a tremendous fella. He really did save this club. He didn't get enough credit for his testimonial either.
Very very humble - you made KP he didn’t make you - you are THE BEST centre forward I have ever seen in an SAFC shirt - you are a gentleman and a great great Sunderland and Ireland man - Shearer would never have given up his testimonial money if you hadn’t - he should be shining your shoes - in your chairmanship you kept us in the PL for many seasons thanks to your vision with Drumaville - YOU ARE A TRUE SAFC LEGEND - WE WILL ERECT A STATUE TO YOU my friend
We all love this fella more than our wife. If he bumped into you and said hello we would offer our wife to him. Love him to bits such a great bloke. Love him back at club.proper legend
I concur with all !!! No matter if you are a Sunderland fan or not like Bobby Robson this guy is a true Gentleman to the sport and in general and feel honoured as Sunderland fan to have him play a big part in my / our Club and will always have a big space in my heart for him and Super Kev of course ! .... "Go on my son all the best to you and your lovely family Ha way The lads " ❤👍👍👍
One of the greatest headers of the ball. Always remember the header against us at Roker Park when he was playing for Manchester City. Power and precision with grace. Must also be mentioned how his charitable testimonial was mentioned in the house of Commons.
Yes, absolute hero! Just for Niall’s info - during his time at the club the population of the city was over 300,000. There were about half a million across the club heartland of South Tyne and Durham and a further half a million across Tyne and Wear. So the club sits within a highly populated catchment area to match most outside London and isn’t a provincial backwater.
Funnily enough we didn't rate Howard Wilkinson even before a ball was kicked. These really were the best of times for the supporters. Quinny was great for Sunderland both as a player and his Drumarville chairmanship.
I don’t think any Sunderland fan denies Ellis short put a lot of money into the club, it is more that like a lot of American owners he lost interest in the end.
Don't be sad it's over. Just be glad it happened and we were there! Outstanding times.
It's not over, he sowed many seeds.
Can never get tired of listening to Niall talking about the club.

Absolute legend. Did so much for this club.
I can’t be the only one who thinks this man should have a statue outside the stadium for everything he did for the club

Love this man - he did so much for the club and the city. A true legend ❤
I didn't realize his fall out with Wilkinson and the club was that acrimonious. What a pity.

Niall's pants>Adam and the Ants
Love this Big man, but 6 years is a long end of career ! More like the peek of your career. Slante for the memories.
you cant leave it like that surely? where the rest?
I don’t think any Sunderland fan denies Ellis short put a lot of money into the club, it is more that like a lot of American owners he lost interest in the end.
Niall Quinn has an incredible hairline
Seems not a fan of Sergeant Wilko then😂
I would give him my kidney if I only had one.
