    • Allah says in Surah As-Saffat: "But you are amazed while they mock." (Quran 37:12).
    • In his commentary on this ayah, Al-Baghawi mentioned: Qatadah said: The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) was amazed by this Quran when it was sent down and by the misguidance of mankind. That was because the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) thought that every person who heard the Quran would believe in it. But then when the mushrikoon heard the Quran, they mocked it and did not believe in it. The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) was amazed by this, so Allah said, "But you are amazed while they mock."

    • Allah recounts the story of Ibrahim (Alayhi As-Salaam) in Surah Az-Zukhruf in part by saying: "And when Ibrahim told his father and his people, "I am free of what you worship ¤ except for the One who created me, for He shall guide me." ¤ And We made it an enduring word among his descendants, so that they might return." (Quran 43:26-28).
    • Commenting on this last ayah, Imam Al-Baghawi (rahimahullah) wrote: "And We made it" - meaning this statement - "an enduring statement among his descendants" - Mujahid and Qatadah said: this is referring to the statement of tawheed, which is 'la ilaha illallaah' - there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah - ; it is an enduring statement among his offspring.
Qatadah said: Among his descendants there have always been those who worship Allah and single Him out for worship.
