I dare say, the Pixel (and Android) is more "optimized." Why? It has far less power, has to power far more Pixels, and yet sometimes it still does tasks faster. Like, imagine if the Pixel had the same resolution as the iPhone and the same chipset. It would be so much faster than the iPhone because it's already almost faster with a lesser processor and a higher resolution display.
The whole premise of your argument falls apart completely when looking at the logic behind your reasoning. You seem to suggest that Android is more optimized because its almost as fast as the iPhone despite the iPhone having a much better SoC according to benchmarks. Maybe, just maybe the reason why iPhone scores so good is BECAUSE of the optimization. Lets look at it logically: We have Apple A11 Bionic 2 x 2.39GHz High-performance cores 4 x 2,39GHz Low performance cores 10nm manufacturing process Total 6 Core And we have Snapdragon 835. 4 x 2.35GHz High performance cores 4 x 1.9GHz Low performance cores 10nm manufacturing process total 8 core So what we have here 2 pretty much equally clocked CPUs, with the snapdragon having a higher core count while the A11 has slightly higher core clock. What should we expect from this? Basically the iPhone should have slightly better single core performance while the 835 should have higher multi-core performance due to more cores. What are the actual results? The iPhone has more than DOUBLE the single core performance, and over 60% higher multi-core. Some people might claim that somehow Apple's engineers magically created a CPU that is twice as good as the best CPU the industry-dominating ARM-CPU manufacturer Qualcomm could manage to create, but that seems a little bit too far fetched doesn't it? Also looking at RAM-management in android vs iPhone - The ONLY phone that can come close to the iPhone in multitasking (meaning no app-restarts due to memory rewrite) is the Note 8 which has 6(!!) GB of RAM, while the iPhone has 3, yet it still wins. Is this due to magic or could it be that iOS is actually more optimized? You bring up resolution as a possible reason as to why it doesn't perform as well. This is false aswell. Look at the Oneplus 5 - it has the snapdragon 835, 8GB (!) of RAM, and it has a 1080p screen which is LOWER resolution than the iPhone x, yet it is still much slower and has lower scores in benchmark. Now tell me, do you still believe Android is more optimized?
ahbahpuh Oh my god. size? Please do your research "dumbass" before spewing garbage. The die size on the A11 is 87.66 mm2 The A10 is 125 mm2 The 835 is 72.3 mm2 The 820 is 113.7 mm2 Die size doesn't mean shit, as you can see. Besides. Within the A11, there is the motion co-processor, aswell as the neural engine.
why does everyone do 90% games on these things. Who cares about game loading times? I don't have a single game on my phone. But on every single productivity one or "daily" app like youtube, the pixel wins
I have an iPhone 8 Plus would you move to pixl 2 xl or iPhone X as I have an upgrade available or would ou just stick out to apples and Google’s next products?
Just wondering, do developers optimize their games for iOS more than for Android’s OS? Or is it just the iPhone 10’s processing power that allows it to win outright?
ken Hudson Note 8 is great however it is definitely not as smooth or optimized as the Pixel. It does however have more RAM which allows it to keep more apps managed without refreshing.
ken Hudson it's just for a few months brother, you might want to compare pixel 2 xl to note 8 down the line in a few months. I bet you would want to rethink about what you have commented :)
ffs no, it's more due to the fact that Samsung devices just aren't as well optimised as pixels and iPhones, and need more ram to compensate. iPhone with half the memory still outperforms the note 8 with heavy load. That tells you something.
Can performance differences come down to how games are ported to other platforms? I would think that none of these games is written from scratch for each platform and is using something like Unity or equivalent. Its possible that the difference lies in the underlying framework.
Not a surprising result honestly. I'd imagine it's because the iPhones have had, since the 6s, what basically amounts to an SSD controller controlling the flash memory. It was interesting how the XL 2 opened Pages faster the second time, I have no idea why that would be. Good stuff though. Since I don't play any games, I don't feel too bad about having an XL 2.
I think real speed tests need to involve functionality of usage for things more than opening apps. I noticed with my SE it took about 20 minutes to upload a 3 minute video to UA-cam. With my iPhone 8 it took about 4 1/2 minutes for the same video. I'll have to do a video showing that but that's a drastic difference as my phone is immobile during that time. I'm buying the Pixel to test out for things like that as well. Most people don't have laptops and if you're using the phone 90% of the time for Facebook or Snapchat than you shouldn't worry about speed tests.
Sumit, Your Subscriber iPhone 6-8 Same design - but Who cares about design - the design is already much batter than x And one thing is the topnotch Is disturbing me. I got the phone.. and felling So bad For latter box on my iPhone X.| So iPhone 8 plus Have best space. Though it has same design.. its much batterer than other...I will sell my iPhone x.. For $1100 Only contact me! (iPhone X battery life Sucks)
I noticed that the quality of the camera on Ihpone X in each video is not the same. what is it about? are competitors of the company paying for deliberately making bad results for iphone ??
Tell me if I'm wrong but the game loading speed has a lot to do with the software it's programmed for/on. When designing an app for Android the app has to be a lot more versatile vs designing an app for Apple. They might be the same games in the end but they are still separate programs.
What is the surprise of needing to reload some of those games? Who dafuk would play so many games at the same time? Make a more practical life RAM management test next time, please.
Sorry but the pixel XL 2 wasn't on the latest version, it was on September's patch version, it should have been on at least October's or even November's patch version to be up to date with the latest bug fixes, which may have improved it's ram management and overall app load times. I'd also suggest that when doing the ram management test, you don't start with the apps you recently loaded, you start from the apps that you started with (ie Twitter etc) to see how well the phone manages to keep the longest running apps open in the background.
I was surprised at the amount of lag the 2xl was experiencing when Saf exited some games using the home button. This is not usually common with a brand new pure android phone.
Uku Tonsiver i saw the iPhone X of my friend... After 1 day he started to be jealous about my Pixel 2 XL... Ahahahah too much for a smartphone that is surpassed by less expensive devices...
i think even the cache of each app should be considered while performing this speed test if an app is cleared of its cache, it'll definitely take more time to load if the cache is not cleared, it'll load faster so i'd rather suggest that before performing the speed test all the cache on the device should also be cleared which'll also help us determine which phone has a better storage thumbs if you agree!!
Why only show launching of apps as an indication of power? How about actual usage and tasks?? You'll find there is almost no difference at all I'm sure
I mean seeing this video the iOS is very well optimized even after having such heavy games in memory it wasn't dropping any frames and had smooth animations, but pixel seemed to be in trouble with animations and was stuttering! Great video Saf
Game performance on iPhoneX is so amazingly unreal, wow. And continues with a high res screen, so many used to attribute this to 1080p, but it seems it's really faster.
Where is the iPhone X vx Pixel 2 XL battery drain test. I see speed tests and iPhone X vs Pixel 2 but no Pixel XL? Can you please do a Pixel 2 XL vs iPhone X battery drain test?
Now there are settings in the Google pixel 2 XL that has you be able to determine how much can be on in the background. And at what number you can start having apps close. You have the ability to choose that!
Your comment regarding the Pixel 2 XL not being as quick because of the higher resolution display doesn't make sense. The note 8 has the same resolution and it loaded all the apps and even a couple games faster than the iPhone X in that video you did comparing the 2. Also the iPhone X absolutely tanked in that video in regards to ram management compared to this video, maybe just a fluke in that video that should maybe be redone in the future.
It turned to be the problem is somewhere in the iOS' kernel network stack: as you can see, the iPhone lost in apps what needs the internet connection. It would be nice if you will test apps that doesn't need internet connection, candidates: 1) VSCOcam 2) Snapseed 3) Gallery app 4) Calculator 5) Contacts 6) Dialer
Ppl criticized the Pixel 2 XL's side bezels for being too thick... But the iPhone X has about the same thickness on the sides in a smaller body. And hey, I personally prefer the bigger top and bottom bezels with stereo dual speakers than that horrendous notch.
Can't help but notice that in spite of all the negative publicity the Pixel 2 XL's display has been getting for not being as punchy and vibrant as an OLED should be, it seems to be punchier and more vibrant than the Iphone for sure. Could be camera focus, maybe a matte screen protector on the Iphone, but can't tell for sure. Anyone else noticed?
But if you leave the open applications in the background what you should do on such expensive cell phones, who then cares for 5 seconds more or less for opening the app for the first time?
Not a fair test Saf. you need to test a cycle of apps individually for both phones with a timer. then ram management and finally time taken to open apps seperately with no apps running in the background.

Sully Mems yeah and the Pixel has 4gb of ram, 8 cores came out a month ago and the X just came out so its not optimised
Bingo
The whole premise of your argument falls apart completely when looking at the logic behind your reasoning.

This is not a logic, you dumbass. Apple CPU is large. That's why it touches Intel.
ahbahpuh Oh my god. size?

3-4 social media apps, 7-8 games. Uhhh... completely normal I guess
why does everyone do 90% games on these things. Who cares about game loading times? I don't have a single game on my phone. But on every single productivity one or "daily" app like youtube, the pixel wins
Hey man.....SuperSaf Style speed test is the best...great video. Cheers
I have an iPhone 8 Plus would you move to pixl 2 xl or iPhone X as I have an upgrade available or would ou just stick out to apples and Google’s next products?
@supersaf TV colors look punchier on pixel...did u install the new update or testing without it
Just wondering, do developers optimize their games for iOS more than for Android’s OS? Or is it just the iPhone 10’s processing power that allows it to win outright?
samsung note 8 didnt need to reload
I find the note 8 performance much more convincing than the pixel 2 to be honest.
Ferdinand Legaspi note 8 best phone of the year
ken Hudson Note 8 is great however it is definitely not as smooth or optimized as the Pixel. It does however have more RAM which allows it to keep more apps managed without refreshing.

Saf, are you goingt o compare the two, in depth, displays, battery, usability, etc? Great work by the way, long time sub here
Are you running the saturated mode on the pixel Saf?
Can performance differences come down to how games are ported to other platforms? I would think that none of these games is written from scratch for each platform and is using something like Unity or equivalent. Its possible that the difference lies in the underlying framework.

Awesome vid. It would be great to see a side by side browser test added to these.
Awesome vid man... will love to see after few updates.
did your Pixl 2 get the update? did anyone else notice the colors were much richer on the Pixel XL2?
How does their speed hold up over time with ongoing updates?
That thumbnaul is fire
Can you do supersaf test speed between the iphone x and the oneplus 5 please , and thank you for all your efforts , love your content , big fan
*Was just searching for this video* ty
One of the best speedtest channel, Thanks
What storage size is the Pixel 2 XL in this video?
maybe switch the pixel 2 xl with the pixel 2 so we can use the 1920x1080 resolution
Can you do resolution matching for these tests, or make another video with realativly equal setting's?
I think real speed tests need to involve functionality of usage for things more than opening apps. I noticed with my SE it took about 20 minutes to upload a 3 minute video to UA-cam. tortiecat ikr, these are load times, and has almost nothing to do with the "speed" of the phone.
Watch everything apple pro
Pixel is always better for me because I don't play any games
it still kills in gaming
SuperSaf TV is the best tech channel! 👌🏻
I noticed that the quality of the camera on Ihpone X in each video is not the same. what is it about? are competitors of the company paying for deliberately making bad results for iphone ??
Nice content and the background music is nice with the video
What is up with the aspect ratio of the games on the iPhone?
You should make a speed test between the note 8 and the pixel
Always love these tests.
awesome test, no biased views. Thank you

What's the point in running stock Android if it performs worse than Samsung phones running TouchWiz?
What is the surprise of needing to reload some of those games? Who dafuk would play so many games at the same time? Make a more practical life RAM management test next time, please.

*Super Saf style speed test the best*
Nice speed test but still both phone are struggling in ram management
I was surprised at the amount of lag the 2xl was experiencing when Saf exited some games using the home button. This is not usually common with a brand new pure android phone.
4 Apps and 8 games... Seriously?!
Overall: Pixel > iPhone
2CPT1 MP Ahahah fuck games. People needs social.. Yes bro, Pixel King👑
Uku Tonsiver i saw the iPhone X of my friend... After 1 day he started to be jealous about my Pixel 2 XL... Ahahahah too much for a smartphone that is surpassed by less expensive devices...
Exactally
i think even the cache of each app should be considered while performing this speed test
if an app is cleared of its cache, it'll definitely take more time to load
if the cache is not cleared, it'll load faster
so i'd rather suggest that before performing the speed test
all the cache on the device should also be cleared which'll also help us determine which phone has a better storage
thumbs if you agree!!
can you even clear the cache on iphones?
I've got no idea mate!
Is snapchat any good on the pixel 2?
Y r there so many games in this test, most people don't play mobile games
Why only show launching of apps as an indication of power? How about actual usage and tasks??
You'll find there is almost no difference at all I'm sure
Why don't u put the op5 against the iPhone X
Great video. It really showed real world use on both phones. Can’t go wrong with either one.
"Hey guys, it's Austin."
when will we get to see the speed test between the razor phone and iphone X?
Especially when it comes to gaming!!
I mean seeing this video the iOS is very well optimized even after having such heavy games in memory it wasn't dropping any frames and had smooth animations, but pixel seemed to be in trouble with animations and was stuttering! Great video Saf

Where is the iPhone X vx Pixel 2 XL battery drain test. I see speed tests and iPhone X vs Pixel 2 but no Pixel XL? Can you please do a Pixel 2 XL vs iPhone X battery drain test?
Great speed test you’ev taken it a next level
The iPhone's operating software is 11.1
The Pixel's operating software is 8.0
Therefore the test is unfair because the Pixel is 3.1 updates behind...
Aschel Perera you have no idea wtf your talking 😭😭
Aschel Perera very nice & moronic excuse!!
Hahahahaha
Did these guys seriously not get the joke?!?! Crazy!
Aschel Perera No actually it’s because Google releases its updates slower because they work more on shittier stuff you’re welcome
i know why there is SuperSaf text in the middle ...
can you do one of these speed tests with the Razer phone vs either one of these 2 phones?
Try adding more tests like file transfer speeds, video processing, etc.
Good luck
Can we a get a wireless charging speed test supersaf style 😎
Why is the launching so slow in pixel 2??
Now there are settings in the Google pixel 2 XL that has you be able to determine how much can be on in the background. And at what number you can start having apps close. You have the ability to choose that!
You should do a Supersaf style comparison between iphone 8 Plus vrs Iphone X
Your comment regarding the Pixel 2 XL not being as quick because of the higher resolution display doesn't make sense. I’m not even a Apple fanboy and that iPhone just looks a hundred times smoother going in and out of apps
Do a Camera Test
*_Samsung Note 8 v/s Google Pixel 2xL_*
It turned to be the problem is somewhere in the iOS' kernel network stack: as you can see, the iPhone lost in apps what needs the internet connection.

What about beta competition now?
You r simply the BEST!!! Much appreciate the effort of this test!! Thank you! 😎
Where is the web browser speedtest ?
It would be interesting to see if the performance mode on the androids have an effect on launch times.
there is only a sec or 2 difference on my android phone, I used modes, medium power saving, optimized, and high.
Yes
I would like to see the stable and optimised updated variants of both the devices
Do camera test between op5 and pixel 2 , op5 and iPhone x too.
Only games open quickly in iPhone.
So iPhone buyers are you buying phone or gaming console
@@ukutonsiver2797 yupp we loves taking photos 😂
That lag on opening and closing of heavy games towards the end will be very frustrating on day to day usage. Iphone is smooth af.
Samarth Gujral I doubt many people are playing that many games at once, but if you are, shoot for the iPhone
Both are the great
thanks for you compare the iphone x vs pixel 2 xl. your videos best
such shame that saf doesn't have more subscribers, he's the most accurate tech reviewer
Please, do the Speed Test of the Iphone X vs Xperia XZ PREMIUM
Nameste Saif
I’m from india and love your Chanel
Keep up the good work
If you let seconds decide your purchase decision you need help 😂just go for what best suits your needs, fast is fast !
*waiting for one plus 5T*
Yes my fellow OnePlus brotha! I have the 3t and am still loving it
Sure win
Yeah can't wait for the event better jelly effect
OnePlus 5 already beats all these phones lol
Ew
I like each and Every Thumbnails For Speed Tests!
Ppl criticized the Pixel 2 XL's side bezels for being too thick... But the iPhone X has about the same thickness on the sides in a smaller body. And hey, I personally prefer the bigger top and bottom bezels with stereo dual speakers than that horrendous notch.
Look at that screen on the XL! Amazing.
Man please make a real life app opening speed comparison.. Who opens 7 games at the same time, just ridiculous
Saf's Speed test are speedy
Remarkable how close screen calibration is between those two
Nice to see that the Pixel really shows up how good Android is. Great video.
Plz do a speed test between one plus 5 vs iPhone X
Pls also you can do lens test with the phone ( lens like moment telephoto , wide angle or any other)
Do Speedtest with iPhone X and OnePlus 5. That's the one we all are waitjng for. Anyways, this was a great video too..
Can't help but notice that in spite of all the negative publicity the Pixel 2 XL's display has been getting for not being as punchy and vibrant as an OLED should be, it seems to be punchier and more vibrant than the Iphone for sure. But if you leave the open applications in the background what you should do on such expensive cell phones, who then cares for 5 seconds more or less for opening the app for the first time?
2017... iPhone is 0.2sec faster. Nice reason to pay 150 bucks more.
Not a fair test Saf. you need to test a cycle of apps individually for both phones with a timer. then ram management and finally time taken to open apps seperately with no apps running in the background.
You are very awesome reviewer
Hi do a speed comparison of the razor phone with the iPhone x
Why have you never done a Note 8 vs Pixel 2 speed test?
the launch on iphone is probably the biggest advantage, it launches games like its opening a picture.
