@@pnutty51bluemagnolia62 That shirt he has on. It looks like John is wearing the same shirt at 0.06 as Justin is wearing at 1.04. Also I wonder if Justin did modelling cause the image looks like he is posing for a fashion shoot. Same as the image at 0.20.
justin sounds just right i had a copy of this song on cassette ever since half way the eighties and i still adore this song ..justin´s voice is in my heart ..forever more ..he´s the Music in the Story in My Eyes
This song means more to me than one can ever know... i met and fell in love with a young woman about the time i found this song here... now.. it is a haunting reminder to me. An unfinished, unrealized, but beautiful song describing perfectly my unfinished, unrealized, but beautiful love I hold still in my heart... i will always love you Tanya...
Some of the BEST Justin classic of all time, I just wish he would get the credit for it as has long DUE for his remarkable talent. WE MAY NEVER SEE ANOTHER LIKE HIM.
i always knew he was special...may you forever be watched over justin...god bless you...over 40 years of wonderful beautful music...from a lifelong fan...
This is a great song! It's a shame we only have this rough demo and not a fully worked-up recording. This should have made a record but is still fantastic with only guitar and Justin singing--Wow! Thanks for posting.
Wow such a yearning song. Thanks for uploading. To think Justin polished this up for Songwriter so many years later. Goes to show sometimes we hear something we presume is new and it can many years old. A great song is a great song.. I remember hearing a George Harrison song called Not Guilty' in 1979 and thinking oh this is referring to My Sweet Lord lawsuit thing. Years later I heard a Beatles version from 1968! There are many examples from many artists. I read an interview with Justin where he said he scrapped an entire album before he released 'Spirits.....'
Simply... totally sublime! The lyrics cut through you like a knife through butter. Such pain! I think Justin's voice is at it's peak just here. He is one of those rare singers whose voice could actually send shivers down your spine. Just imagine what a great album 'Songwriter' could have been if he'd included this song as the concept and cornerstone of that album. Unfortunately we'll never know...sigh! And I agree with all the comments below
who could dislike this? I absolutely love this song! I have a little playlist set up on my laptop of moodies songs that will play while I'm asleep, and this one is almost always on the list!
This has become one of my favorite Justin's songs, among the many that I love. So Beautiful! His soulful and reassuring voice building up hope, love, and one's attitude to make the difference. Accordingly, I believe that the end of this song is: "Whoa-oh... never to be alone" In the few sites where I found this song's lyrics, they end with "whoa-oh..." or "whoa-oh... forever to be alone". In fact, at the end of the demo session (after whoa-oh...), although the sound is lower, not so clear and cut, Justin sings what could be Forever to be alone (as in the first part and song title) - or - Never to be alone. I feel that the latter is more aligned with the spirit of the song and Justin's own spirit and style. It builds up! ... and somehow that's what I really hear when I listen to the music and want to share with you.
... good ears, teresa, and though I've not heard this before now it is always good to find something obscure or different from a well respected popular artist. Some people are so truly blessed that they can spread and pass on that blessing to a great many other people. And, I do believe, that Justin Hayward, is, just such an angel ...
I've been collecting articles on the Moodies for ages and came across one reference to 'Forever to be alone' as if it was going to become a single...then never heard anything more. I think you're right; he probably changed it to more closely match the sound and theme of the Songwriter album.
This Song is a UNFINISHED WORK! This song was never recorded except as a demo tape. In the mid 1970's. Justin was working on this song (probably to be included on his first solo album, "Songwriter") but the tape was stolen from him before he was finished. As this was the only copy, he did not complete the work. Some of the words were incorporated into "Songwriter Part I" from that album.
@Taranberk dont you just miss that , bootleg albums, cassettes ,searcing for a copy of Blue Guitar, and so on. stillsearcing for a good quality recording of the 1981 Voyager tour..man Twilight Time Live ! I know it's out there
It is a great song, and it's a pity it got stolen and he never re-recorded and released it. Just listen to the richness of his voice! He is a good singer still but I don't know if he could reproduce the same quality today!
Hey joechildrey...why the Moodies are sadly not in the R&R Hall Of Fame (my opinion): They don't fit the biased opinion of the critics as being truly "rock and roll". Hell, they INVENTED symphonic rock", and for that alone they deserve to be inducted!!! These guys are indeed more deserving than some of the other artists that are already in the Hall.
Why do you think Justin never re-recorded this song? It's brilliant. His voice tone is just superb throughout - vintage Justin Hayward ! Do you think he ever wondered where the stolen recording ended up ?
Hayward, get into the booth and re-record this, don't change anything, especially the softness of your voice. Heart Wrenching. Princess Terese Maria Faisal
I'm so happy I discovered this rare one. It was beautiful. I wish he had been able to finish it. Even in a raw, incomplete form, it is so much better than the song that sprang from this one. "Songwriter" is good, but not as great as this one could have been.
Taranberk, Bless you for this one. I can hear the era it was recorded in, and even the time of his life he composed this. You wrestle with public vs personal time spent. It is the broken arrow of public life. By the way, A. Cuomo truly appreciated this on the day he stepped down. (no reflection on anyone's politics here, only sympathy for the stupidity we suffer in public from ditzes n daugs who scrape)
I wish Justin would re-record this song now. What a treat that would be for his fans.
Once again, Taranberk comes thru with another obscure Justin Hayward rarity!!! How about a hand for Taranberk??? Who is with me???
Taranberk, this is such a jewel.
It has captured the bittersweet you can have from a success that was hard to win.
Resonates so deep.
I am.
These treasures are...enthralling.
My favorite artist above all. Justin Hayward.
God, Could this man's voice be any more beautiful? I really don't think so....
Justin Hayward, so beautiful, does this man sing from angels inside of him? I think so!
Justin is the most beautiful man on the planet! And he has the most beautiful voice.
Beautiful belly button at 1:04. Yum.

Not only is the song wonderful, but the pictures are awesome...some I've NEVER seen, and I'm a HUGE Justin and Moody's fan!
Justin is so amazing! Most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Love the picture of him as a little boy! Cute as can be.
Magnificent work done here!!!!Justin Hayward is one of the best songwriter of our times!

Absolutely gorgeous, these photos, this song, and Justin! Thank you!
This song is amazing! I can't believe he doesn't like it! It's absolutely a lost gem!
I love his beautiful music....Justin Hayward !
Just a outstanding classic from Justin's past.
Very, very rich.

What a talent! They don't make music like this anymore. Thanks Justin!!
Some of the BEST Justin classic of all time, I just wish he would get the credit for it as has long DUE for his remarkable talent. WE MAY NEVER SEE ANOTHER LIKE HIM.
gosh, heartstring stuff. Seasoned MB fan but never heard this one till today. Awesome. The angels cry.
i always knew he was special...may you forever be watched over justin...god bless you...over 40 years of wonderful beautful music...from a lifelong fan...
I'm speechless. Gorgeous.
You are not the only one! I get all teary watching and listening to this! It is so moving. No ones music touches my soul like the Moodies.
This is a great song! It's a shame we only have this rough demo and not a fully worked-up recording. This should have made a record but is still fantastic with only guitar and Justin singing--Wow! Thanks for posting.
First time listening to this. Totally Justin tones and sentiments. Love it. 01/24
Love this song! So much talent at such a young age. Justin is my favorite singer of all time.
Keep them coming. They don't write or sing great songs
like this anymore. Thanks for the post.
EXCELLENT CLASSIC

So beautiful.
No one else has such exotic lyrical genius.
Thank you so much. The Moody Blues make it bearable to stay on the planet. This is my favorite Justin Hayward song.
both the music and your slideshow of amazing pictures touched me so deeply. thanks
His voice is so amazing! I just saw the MBs live a few nights ago and Justin's voice is still as good as when he was young!
Just outstanding classic song by Justin. Keep them
coming like this one.

well done ...im yet to make my first video ,thanks for sharing, Moody Blues are one of the best bands ever
Wow, this a new one to me, very heart felt, lovely.❤

God bless You and your family everyday , Justin.
I've never heard this before now. It's just beautiful! Thank you.
Beautiful:, slow, what a romantic song, especially slow dance. Thank you
May I correct you? Part of this song was used in the title track from Justin's solo album "Songwriter" in 1977.....................
Great song beautifully sung, thanyou for posting and bringing it to the attention of further admirers of Justin and his music
Of all the songs, from the beginning at the plantation house, the armor, this is the one. This sealed the heart forever, hidden. Soul.
This is the very best music ever
So much more potential than what ended up on songwriter
What a great song...
Best Justin Hayward song !!!
Uh! Gorgeous! C'mon Justin! Rerelease this stuff!
He has angel's in his heart.❤️❤️.. Lovely voice, lovely word's.. A true 🎨🎨🎨 artist!!!! 🥀🥀🥀🥀..2022...
This beautiful song should have been much more than a demo.
He should finish this song and release it on the next Moody album! This song is soooooo great!!!

Taranberk could pull another one out of EDEN like this one. EARLY OUTSTANDING CLASSIC JUSTIN H
I don't have the record...I recorded this from a cassette copy received years ago through trading with people in Higher & Higher's classified ads.

You have a lot of rare moody blues stuff. :)
Just a great tune. I wish Justin could pull another one out of EDEN like this one.
I heard that he was never pleased with this song and wanted to burn the tape and start over. I love it anyway.
Justin used the bridge to this song in his song "Songwriter", so I can't see him releasing it. It's beautiful though.
a jewel !!!!
Justin Hayward, the master, indeed. See him regularly in annapolis
I love this. Thank you. Said With Love, Joyce
Best song in the World
Hayward, get into the booth and re-record this, don't change anything, especially the softness of your voice. Heart Wrenching. Princess Terese Maria Faisal

Thanks! I've got most of the obscure Moodies/solo music and plan to create more videos, so stay tuned to my page!
Where did you get the big picture of Justin with his mouth open looking to the side at about 0:51? It's adorable!!!

Songwriter deserved to be a double album.

@jinchengfan Your idea about Maurice Gibb singing this...that would have been amazing, he would have been a good fit for this song!
I've always liked this version much better than the one on Songwriter
Hayward love this just Rerecord it its beautiful Princess Therese Maria Faisat
