I'd put my money on Rob. This guy is really good, but I'm just not seeing the epicness here. Rob always blows me away. This guy, while also rather humble, as awesome as he is didn't have any wow factor; at least for me.
Rob Scallon by the looks of it is a guitarist applying guitar technique to all of the other instruments. Obviously he's talented but these guys are apples and oranges. When it comes to uke he wouldn't hold a candle to Jake. My opinion of course.
I think they are comparing him to Jimi Hendrix because jimi brought a new style of playing the guitar. Just as this guy is using the ukulele in a new way
Tiny Tim was a national treasure, an amazing singer/interpreter and historian of American music. He should be celebrated, especially as a player of the ukulele. He loved and promoted the instrument and its history his whole life.
I remember watching this dudes first videos a very long time ago and he blew my mind ever since. From one musician to another, know I'm happy to see he's getting some where.
Used to be part of a youth group my family worked with. He was amazing then. He had this bit where he would play and people would yell for him to go faster and he would. He could really go. Would end up on the floor on his back playing like crazy. He is very humble and an awesome person.
Jimi is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, but that doesn't mean he was perfect. he was actually rather sloppy with his playing. The reason he's so world renowned is because of how revolutionary he was for the guitar and music in general. This guy looks much healthier than Jimmy was, and is technically astounding 👌
I was thinking the same thing. I love Jimi's music; he wrote nice songs, always had nice melodic solos, he was a real innovative with recording and equipment and he really "felt the blues", but I think his technical abilities are overrated.
Salve de Slave Not capable of playing acoustic ?? Have you heard "Hear my train a Comin" on his blues album cause he does two versions, a 12 string acoustic and electric church version. Of course people play better than Hendrix but it's not necessarily about the sophistication of his playing but rather it was the creation of new sounds and the advancement of a genre that people know so little about (blues), and also being a big part in the psychedelic/funk genre.
Hendrix was a genius on making music, but he never was the best guitar player. SRV could play 10x better than him. but hendrix create insane pieces of art and its because that he is considered a god. he change the history of music.(sorry for my english btw)
Well, so called Ukulele, comes from an instrument called Cavaquinho that comes from the north of Portugal. Portuguese sailors brought it to the islands. The reason was it was a small instrument that they could carry around without taking much place, then local people adapted it to their taste and culture. All the old 'Ukuleles' were made by people whose names still have a portuguese origin. I don't if people from the islands and abroad do know about this.
This is brilliant but my favourite is his rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. Without singing himself, he manages to incorporate all the instrumental and vocal melody lines of this amazing song on one small instrument.
people hating so much. hes the best ukulele player on the planet just like hendricks was the best of his craft. its not a comparison, its just saying he is the best of his craft like hendricks was

Guy has played with some amazing musicians and he says "Edgar Meyer" when asked the one musician he'd like to play along side of. What a testament to Edgar. I don't think the reporter knew who Edgar Meyer is. Lol
I like how humble he is. We've been listening to his music for years.
Keoki johnson whatevers
You can definitely tell just from his facial expressions and how he moves his body when he plays that he has so much passion for his instrument
He truly vibin
It's like you can almost hear the instrument saying the actual words, but I'm also highAF right now. So, that may be the reason as well.. lol
What's the actual song?
@@g-hStLmoN "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by The Beatles
After that introduction I want to see someone playing a 40-string guitar.
Pekka Kujansuu you could do that with an 8 string style guitar BUT strung with 4 other octaves.
Pekka Kujansuu look at a harp, or the inside of a piano
Pat Metheny plays a 42 string Pikasso guitar.
Rob Scallon is what you need
Kaptain Kid 48 string piano actually
3:03 if you just wanna see him playing Ukulele
the hero is always in the comments! Thanks!
Another hero in comments. May you get heart from channel

"There's no ego when you're a ukulele player." - Jake Shimabukuro👍
I wanna hear him and Rob Scallon have a ukulele battle.
Bruh he would annihilate Robbie any day
I'd put my money on Rob.
This guy is really good, but I'm just not seeing the epicness here. Rob always blows me away. This guy, while also rather humble, as awesome as he is didn't have any wow factor; at least for me.
an to put him in the same sentence as jimi hendrix.......idk. b easy with that
Rob Scallon by the looks of it is a guitarist applying guitar technique to all of the other instruments. Obviously he's talented but these guys are apples and oranges. When it comes to uke he wouldn't hold a candle to Jake. My opinion of course.
Who has the longer reach?
I think they are comparing him to Jimi Hendrix because jimi brought a new style of playing the guitar. Just as this guy is using the ukulele in a new way
Jake: Exists
Feng E: Finally, a worthy opponent.
Fire the intern who wrote James.

That song is actually really nice and fun to play. Many different patterns possible using the minor scales. Love it. Thank you for the main riff!!
Just the passion that he plays with!!! It's astounding and beautiful music!
saw him live last fall, freaking amazing. One of the most enjoyable concerts I have ever been to, including The Who and McCartney in the 80's.
I love the way he speaks
For gods sake they just meant how Jimi was know as one of the greats, he is that good at the Ukelele
Tiny Tim was a national treasure, an amazing singer/interpreter and historian of American music. He should be celebrated, especially as a player of the ukulele. He loved and promoted the instrument and its history his whole life.

He really seems to enjoy it. Wow.
As a George Harrison fan and of music in general I could be listening to this master musician for days...
which music is?
He's so soft spoken and this reflects to his playing.
This is genuinely nice to listen to.
While my guitar gently weep, on ukulele... I would never thought id enjoy that.
Jean- François don’t you mean while my ukulele gently weep
Still my guitar gently whips
I remember watching this dudes first videos a very long time ago and he blew my mind ever since. From one musician to another, know I'm happy to see he's getting some where.

He has such a soothing voice!
He came to my school when I was in Hawaii. He made it sound like any instrument you could imagine. I miss Hawaii😢

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍this man is AMAZING! I didn't know u could do all that with 4 strings
The speed at the end reminds me a lot of the Gypsy Violin scene on the beach in Queen of the Damned. Great talent!

This was the kindest interview

That ending was awesome 👏
How can you give this guy a thumbs down!
Shimabukuru is actually an Okinawan surname, and yes Jake was born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii.
Amazing talent! Need tabs for this
I honestly felt the passion.. sorry for those who are saying they are not feeling the factor. They don't have the heart. Honestly
Oh damn I saw him a few years ago, didn’t realize that he was this big. Got front seat too!
people hating so much. hes the best ukulele player on the planet just like hendricks was the best of his craft. its not a comparison, its just saying he is the best of his craft like hendricks was
Hendrix revolutionized the electric guitar though. This guy tho is just another advanced ukulele player. Hendrix was more influential too.
