Delhi daredevils that had topped the group table in the first time in IPL history.
now looked ready to take over the League.
With a lineup consisting off Mahela Jaywardhane, Sehwag, Ross Taylor, Kevin Peterson, Andre Russell, Morne Morkel, Umesh Yadav, Aaron Rogers, Irfan Pathan,
the team had a well balanced balling and batting side that could bulldoze and opponent.
But shockingly, in the Semifinals they lost against Kolkata knight riders.
The loss by itself could have been written off as a fluke
but the wrong lesson learnt from the loss lead to the greatest Blunder in IPL History.
The Decision to bench the Purple cap winner from the side.
Today we understand the complexity that lead to the greatest of all mishaps
and how confidence and belief and a cold hard look at the facts is what matters the most in the end. Especially at the top.
I think NCB should investigate this matter and so we can get to know which drug they used resulting in such mind boggling decisions

I am a die-hard fan of CSK. Before qualifire no. 2 I was scared that morkel will eat CSK batting line-up. But @ toss when I saw morkel out of the XI i was surprised rather disappointed . How evere my favourite team won that match but i haven't been able to digest that decision of ruling morkel out of the team even after a decade.
But those 5 consecutive innings from sehwag are still alive.

I remember that time dd coach was ERic Simon and I was wonder how dd management could remove Morkel in playoff and did other blunders too against Csk. In present time he is some of main coaching staff in Csk and doing great for them without any blunders.

Remember allegations of fixing after the match because IPL website said final was between KKR and CSK even before the CSK vs DD match.This happened because KKR won Qualifier1 and CSK won eliminator.People running the website thought both were semifinals.

Maybe dropping Taylor instead of Morne to bring Russel would have made more sense.
Remember at that time (2011 & 2012 season) even Venugopal Rao was doing well as a Batsman. Even with the above lineup, Delhi's batting was deep with 7 proper batsman & 6 proper bowlers.
Dropping Morkel was absolutely bizarre. How can you drop your Purple Cap holder in a virtual semi final against a team like Chennai with such a strong batting lineup.

The reason why RCB, Delhi and PBKS have never won all these years is because of these kind of blunders. RCB and PBKS never dropped their main player in an important game, but in mega auctions and injury replacements they have made some blunders. And RCB management became even worse when Vijay Mallya left the team. But now RCB's management has learnt from their past mistakes. Delhi has JSW now who has experience running sports teams, so even they have learnt from their mistakes as well. But Punjab still hasn't learnt much from their past mistakes. That's the reason why PBKS has the worst record compared to other teams.

Delhi and Bangalore have made mistakes too. But they have improved. But Punjab has been making same mistakes again and again.

Vijay Mallya just went after big names, cricket is meant to be run by the professionals he didn't give them complete freedom to choose the players they wanted and clearly interfered in the auction strategy, I remember when all RCB wanted proper bowling options, they went bonkers to buy Yuvraj Singh for 14 crores, paid 13.5 crores for Tymal mills played him for only 7 games or so... And every 2 years management changed.. They are atleast stable since Mike Hesson is heading the operations
