Thanks for the lovely video , enjoyed your trees and tranquil garden. What a bonus having the woods backing on. Thoroughly enjoyed watching you today, made my morning :)
Morten I identify with your processes because we have similar climates. I am in London Canada where today we got 6 inches of snow in early November. Fortunately my trees are all tucked away for the winter. Your Garden tour was wonderful, thank you for sharing.
Beautiful trees. I have many in the works myself. It is quite nice to see how each individual tree develops, and the character of each tree. Wonderful video and beautiful garden.
wow. just simply, WOW. beautiful garden and beautiful trees, a gorgeouss garden like this is definitely a goal for my future 👍🏻 thanks for sharing this with us and upload more videos i love them all ❤️
Hi Trevor, not to be argumentative but Amur maples are native to the Amur river valley between Northern China and Siberia. They may have naturalized in your area but they are not native to North America.
Lovely tour of the garden Morten which I am rewatching again. I agree with you about the large turtle back type roots on Japanese maples - I find it a bit ugly and unnatural looking. Maples should be graceful, elegant and delicate.
Beautiful, thank you very much for sharing! You’ve also given me some great ideas for my own bonsai garden which is in the early stages of being put together, 🤓👍🏻
Morten what an amazingly beautiful and a bit jealous making garden you have my friend! And your stunning little gems could not be growing in a better place! Your enthusiasm makes me smile and is heartwarming! Keep up the good work and I hope to see you again somewhere in Bonsai land in the future!!! 👏👏👏 Cheers from Holland, Hans van Meer. KARAMOTTO BONSAI.
Hans Karamotto Thank you so much my friend. I appreciate your kind words and hope you are well. I enjoy my bonsai life in the garden. Hope to see you soon again.Take care. 😊👍
Fantastisk, I am just getting started and its so good to see what patience can do for the trees :) And I got inspired by your stands for the trees, I will build some of those next year :) Tommel op.
Best time to cut back Acer campestre and other deciduous trees, are in late spring. After the first set of leaves have hardened up. Then you get the best new growth after cutting.
could a tree still be classified as shohin if it was over the usual height of a shohin but it was the same proportions as a typical shohin (same compactness, pad size etc.) for example a literati tree?
at 5:30 is something really interesting about removing the flowers on cherry bonsais. I have a japanese cherry flower tree where I have huge problems to produce ramification. Does anyone have a guide or more explanation about this subject?
Mj Seifried Depends on the winter. For the first time I let most trees stay out the full winter period. Because we had almost no freezing at all. And the large trees helps protecting too. In normal winters I store the small and medium sized trees in a cold greenhouse or similar. Keeping trees from freezing the rootball. Large bonsai are placed on the ground under the benches.
An͋gȅlos͍ If the tree is healthy and it is done at the right time it should go well. All depends on the health of the tree and if it is done when it grows well (Kate spring to early summer).
Tascam audio recorder, lapel mic, and a clap board. Let the mic run the whole time. Clap in and out of the video. Line the claps up from both audio sources to synchronize during edit. Clapping out tells you what audio you can skip, without needing to search too much, if you turn the camera off. The best video editing software for on the go, in my opinion, is final cut pro. I think it's a cloud based subscription service now, not sure about cost. But, it is drag and drop. Easy enough to use. Good luck!
Travis you want to time it with the grand period of growth... if your tree is able to flower, remove the flowers and it is after that that the tree will put on its main flush of growth (in contrast with he SMALL flush in the early spring). Hope this helps.
Shohin are stored i a cool winter storage (greenhouse or a like) Just to keep them from freezing the soil for longer periods). And to protect tender trees like Trident maples.
i agree the japanese trees sometimes look too artificial.. i also dont agree with all the japanese bonsai "rules" india taiwan korean china penjing all do things differently all still beautiful.. even if they dont follow the "rules" i never liked rules haha. thanks for sharing. liked and subbed

Beautiful garden very nice display. Not a professional? I believe you’re a professional indeed
I love how your bonsai live out on benches. Where I live it's so hot and dry my bosais have to spend all summer under shade netting or they scorch.
Exceptional colection. A wonderfull garden, just to enjoy. Congratulations!
I like your enthusiasm! You have some really incredible trees - especially that scots pine

Amazing bonsai shohin and mame collection you have. Nice to see in your wonderful garden
I love your garden, Morten, and I love your trees. Truly impressive. If I ever make it to Denmark (from Australia) I would love to pay a visit.

Thank you 🙏🌳
Thank you for this most interesting video. When you begin a new tree, you cut it back. How do you deal with the scar ?
every time, i ut a trunk back so drasticly. it dies XD very nice garden and pro shohin !!
I could watch you all day, man! You've honestly got the best vibe about you. Hopefully one day we'll meet. _Quigg

Ferg Kilsby Yes it can 😊👍
@@ShohinbonsaiEurope Thanks for the response! its great to be able to get answers from such authorities in bonsai!
I am Madesh from Bangalore, India
Hi. Thanks for your detailed explanations. How many trees do you have in total?
9:18 What maple? I didnt hear the name correctly and I wanna look it up. Nice leaf shape.
NeutroN ShivA I do think I wrongly said Amur maple. It is a field maple. English isn’t my native language 😁 Acer campestre for sure 😊

Would be great if you activated the subtitles ☺️, thanks. Not all of us have perfect hearing 👂☹️

I wonder how you Winter over your trees? Do the surrounding woods stop wild winds and allow snow to fall gently?
Mj Seifried

Trunk chop in August? Would you please explain. Thanks
I would like more info aswell. I know with some tropical trees u can because the go dormant in the really hot part of the summer.
If I cut my japanese maple like you say in 10:11, the tree have chance to survive or it will die?

Hi, you need to get another sound source, not only the camera sound. It would be better i guess.

that's what I said to myself too ...
Send him the message. Otherwise thank you for you videos. Really nice.
When is the best time of year to trunk chop and azalea?

What measures (if any)do you take to protect your shohin in winter?
Shohin are stored i a cool winter storage (greenhouse or a like) Just to keep them from freezing the soil for longer periods). And to protect tender trees like Trident maples.
Hvor henne bor du så Morten. Jeg skal til Køge lige om lidt...... måske du er på vejen?
