    Amazing craftsmanship, I am so proud that England produced the finest car in the world.
    I own a 1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit 1 saloon, and I can testify to the build quality and indeed reliability, of these marvellous motor cars.

      What sort of clientele do you get in that saloon? When they get liquored up do they have fights in there like in the westerns? About those two doors, are they swinging? So, this place was built in 1973, in Mulliner Park Ward. Whereabouts is that?

    Utterley delightful. I am fortunate to own a very small collection of Rolls-Royces (and Bentley) dating from 1922 to 1997, and whilst I knew it took 4 months to build a Corniche, seeing how much hand detailing was involved is enlightening. Thank you.

    Are you kidding me? No wonder these things cost so much! Can you believe this? Metal sculpting? These motorcars are a work of art!

    When England was great and Rolls Royce were tasteful cars driven by those who appreciated them. These days they're re-badged German rubbish owned by footballers. Such a shame.

    Friend of mine is a paint and bodywork expert, and during a discussion on the paint finish quality of various cars he commented that Rolls Royce paint was just average!! Obviously I was very surprised and frankly reluctant to believe him. So we went to a Rolls Royce dealer and he pointed out all the defects in the paint of a brand new Phantom, and also the overall orange peel finish. I was shocked, but had to agree with the evidence before my eyes. In mitigation, he said most modern cars have terrible paint finish, but Rolls Royce is no better than everyday Merc or BMW for example, and worse than some. He went further and said old Rolls have terrible bodwork, with rust traps all over the place and virtually no anti corrosion protection. Food for thought!

      The Silver Shadows were always known for rust, probably because it was their first with monocoque bodywork. The body panels were pressed and assembled to a body in white (unpainted) by Pressed Steel Fisher (part of BMC/British Leyland at the time). I love Rolls-Royce cars, except the modern BMW ones, but I acknowledge their faults.

    Imagine lead loading without a mask, they were real men but probably sacrificed their lives for these cars.

    The film must be recorded in the late seventies (not eighties), since it covers Silver Shadow and Corniche with CHROME BUMPERS!

      @deltic  Рік тому +2

      Sorry, I probably should have made it more clear. The film was recorded off a VHS tape in the late 1980s. The film itself is from the early 1970s.

    Well it ain’t now! The radiator is beginning to disappear, the spirit is now sitting on the painted body, and don’t get me started on those dreadful led lights installed in the head lining, talk about vulgar and tasteless!

    I wish they had made a turbo diesel for these cars.

    • @deltic
      @deltic  Рік тому +1

      I think any turbo diesel engine in the early 1970s (or any diesel engine for that matter at the time) would have been far too crude for use in a car like this. Today's turbo diesels would have been a better fit.
