Alexander Kaufman's observations on the future of nuclear power in the Philippines, as aired on ANC's Headstart, provide an interesting glimpse into the possible benefits for the country's energy sector. Embracing nuclear power might provide a reliable and sustainable energy source, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating the effects of climate change. Nuclear power, with sufficient regulation and safety measures in place, has the potential to greatly contribute to the Philippines' energy independence and economic growth. This forward-thinking approach has the potential to pave the way for the nation's cleaner, more resilient energy future.
Nuclear energy is both expensive and dangerous and just because nuclear pollution is invisible doesn't means it's clean .
BNPP is an old structure and is no longer safe. Don't revive it because it can cause a disaster."
I think, before planning in using BNPP, we should study it first, because the Philippines does not yet have the capacity for the so-called "small modular reactor" in addition to its extremely high cost.
We understand the concern of anti-nuclear activities, but they’re concerned it’s so small compared to the whole nation, they just need to be educated
We should also listen to the opinion of every Filipino whether they are in favor or not of the opening of the BNPP. We should have learned from what happened to us in the past.
The risk of a nuclear disaster is a real threat to safety. The possible cost of rehabilitating the decades-old BNPP could be potentially used for other development projects or in alternatives energy sources that is more safer than nuclear plant.. This plant has no function for 40 yrs, which makes people of Bataan distrustful about its operation. Safety first.. No to BNPP 👌🏻
About time for the Philippines. Now is the time, especially now data centers are now rampant that in need of energy. The increasing demand of energy around the world and the Philippines is not exempted. Philippine government should prioritize this source of energy to further lower the cost of electricity in Luzon island.
This topic has been a subject for debate for so many years.. Please say no to Bataan Nuclear Power Plant, we have many things to consider, firstly, it is located in and earthquake prone area, it can produce high level of radioactive waste which remains hazardous for thousand of years.. The cost of rehabilitating the plant can cost too much. These funds could instead be invested in safe, more sustainable energy sources, especially safe for the people.
The question is why Cong. Mark Cojuanco is pushing to rehabilitate and revive the BNPP ?The facility is not safe and can cause disaster when earthquake happen, Better convert it to cloud computing machine and tourist destination .
Because the 2008 IAEC mission said it can be operated and upgraded. Rosatum, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Corp said the same. The Wattsbar Nuclear Plant same with Bnpp build in 70s, mothballed but in 2016 wattsbar was restarted.
We should have learned from the Chernobyl disaster in the Soviet Union and the Fukushima disaster in Japan! The operation of nuclear power is not safe!
BNPP is 40 years old and not safe to revive. It should be converted into another source of energy or a cloud computing facility that can prevent pollution and create a better environment. Perhaps it could be made into a tourist destination so that the government will benefit, rather than spending billions on rehabilitating the plant.

When the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant is opened, it's uncertain how long it will last because it's old and hasn't been used for a long time. Those tall walls may no longer be safe, when a strong earthquake strikes, it might just collapse.
The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant was a focal point for anti-nuclear protests, the project was criticized for being a potential threat to public health, especially since the plant was located in an earthquake zone.
Since the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant is so old, numerous scientific investigations have concluded that it is no longer safe to open and function. It could put us Filipinos in danger!

Theres a lot of scientific study that BNPP is not safe to operate , the structure is too old and can cause nuclear disaster in the future because the location of the facility is within the earthquake faultline .
We are not in favor of reopening the BNPP, except that it is so old, it is no longer safe to use. We agree with Cong. Abet Garcia to simply convert BNPP into a cloud computing facility.
But its sitting on a fault line isn’t it dangerous like most comments here?, what about the possible tsunami.? Even if its converted to a fishball plant its dangerous.
The plant was built during the Marcos era, and has been idle for over a decades, we don't think it safe to open nowadays. The risks and challenges are considerable, the people of Bataan as a whole should prioritize safety and environmental sustainability. 👍🏻

Kin observation of Alexander about BNPP embracing the benefits of nuclear energy is not sufficient to consider because reviving the plant is really a challenge to our government aside from its too expensive, the facility is 40 years old andcan cause great disater in the future .
That hasn't been operational for a long time. It probably has hidden defects that we aren't seeing. Let's just look for another electricity source that is safe for everyone.

My family in Morong Bataan against to Bataan nuclear power plant. Because this power plant is ancient and very old technology, it is also in a very highly populated area. So for now it's very dangerous to operate it.
Cong Abet Garcia made a great suggestion on BNPP's conversion to a cloud computing facility. Since that is its future, the government will profit more from this, both locally and nationally. Cloud computing and data servers are essential for all IT and online businesses.
But a lot of people said that its in an active faultline and potential eruption from dormant Mt Natib. No investor will risk that.

Where did you put the nuclear waste, why don't you talk about nuclear waste.
As far as I know, the way it works is that there will be a designated dig spot or silo to store such nuclear waste. They will coat the dig spot with an element which I forgot which is which that neutralize the radioactivity of the material just in case of a spill out. Most of the time, these nuclear waste storage/silo/dig spots are near the plant itself. I think there was an interview with a physicist expert from the Philippines about such topic and its feasability here in the Philippines and will be a lot better to look at rather than asking it here in the comments.

@@jasonclement3000 many country using nuclear plant are little by little shot down their plant and transform or adapting the renewable energy and yet the Philippines eager to have this, common sense.
@@veerand7038 the question is where underground, which province, which town who allow to bury this hazardous materials, tell me.
Let say this nuclear power plant is operating let's say tomorrow, you don't tell the people where you buried the waste, and yet the people of the province or town discovered that put the hazardous material in their land. Do you think this is easy to deal for the Filipinos. And I am 100% the plant will shot down and how much money will lost.
