Gordon Bombay was one of the greatest peewee hockey players of all time scoring 198 goals in a single season and perfecting his signature "Triple-deke"..Gordon Bombay would go on to play 1 season in the minor leagues before suffering a career ending knee injury.
I do not own the rights to this film, I just like this one scene
I remember seeing this as a kid in the theater. The bass when the Iceland team skated in was insane. Out of all 3 I think this one was the peak of the franchise.
I wished I would’ve seen this in theaters. I end of getting the vhs when it came out on video. I bet the sound in the movies was crazy. I did sneak in to see the first one when I was in kindergarten. I got my ass whoop by my mom lmao.
Agreed. The first was great, but the kids acting skills had not developed yet, so some of their scenes were cringy. This one is much better, plus the stakes are higher and the opposing team is more intimidating.

Absolutely! Enforcer, with the heart of gold, and do anything for his team. Thats exactly who you want to be sharing the ice/field/pitch with in team sports. Absolute beast!
Definitely I'm a two way forward myself sometimes I play D but I tell you Guys like Dean are a cut above they'll literally die for you. They're the reason why the game polices itself.

The Academy members only care about their own; any nomination or win by an outsider is mostly done from a fear of being sued. Many films deserve the honor every year, but they're not given the chance due to BS bias.

I think so, this is an even greater one-on-one scene than the diner scene in "Heat". I mean, it should've locked it up when Stensson mocked Gordon's patented triple deke.

Oscar I might think is a little farfetched but I would say that this film and the first one definitely deserved more recognition during the award season. I definitely feel Emilio deserved at least Golden Globe nomination for his performance of Gordon in the first film!

I think greenland and iceland are what we think each other is - though I don't think any of them are a hockey power. Canada is definitely the bullies of hockey, both in skill and culture - but then we are the only country where it's far and away the dominant sport so I mean yea

Bombay could've been a star on the NHL level, If not for the death of his father and the emotional roller coaster coach Riley put him through when he was a kid. He almost made it if not for that knee injury. Had things gone his way, I think his career would've mirrored that of Mike Modano.

This was honestly my fav scene in the movie I like seeing Bombay show how good he really is, we never got to actually see that in the films imo, kinda wish there was a bit more of that instead of just him coaching

Team Iceland always reminded me of playing football in my middle school years. We called it modified football and it was supposed to be 7th and 8th graders only. One team friggin destroyed us both years I played. Their players were twice the size of ours, and they had facial hair. The guy I lined up against had a goatee and like 100 pounds on me. We always referenced Averman from this movie. "They're bigger they're faster, they have more facial hair!" lol
I love how this showed Gordon in warrior mode. He always preached keeping your cool, but this showed that he could fight when he needed to

In that one on one match, by most points before that unnecessary knee cheap shot by the Iceland Team Coach, Gordon definitely had this game right in the bag. Salute to Coach Gordon of the Mighty Ducks.
He wasn't even breaking a sweat despite being out of practise and permanently out of commission vs someone whose ego would demand he stayed in rink shape.

As an adult, I now see how absurd it is to use Team Iceland as the villain. It's probably the friendliest country on the planet.
The Icelandic national hockey team was founded 2 years before the movie came out, and to this day, they never played Team USA.

I find it interesting how Dean Portman was made the x-factor throughout the whole movie.
When first introduced to the team: Tibbles says “They’re called enforcers Gordon and when you place Iceland you are going to need him”
First game against Iceland thrown out after 3 seconds. The team gets crushed. He was desperate to play and wasn’t scared.
This scene here: he reassures Bombay. “We’re right here”.
After Stenson says get your coach off the ice; they hold Portman back from going at Stetson and Iceland
In the final Match when Iceland had strong momentum he along with fulton go fill enforcer mode on Iceland and from then on USA/Ducks turn it around and later win
This movie made me believe fly V was possible in hockey and often used . God I love this movie

This scene shows perfectly why Bombay would’ve been great in the NHL but wasn’t meant for the NHL.
You can see he’s a great skater as shown by him being so good on his edges and a great shooter shown by him taking shots from the outside.
However it’s shown he wasn’t meant for the NHL because he’s a showboat and very cocky which is why he didn’t go ahead and win it when he faked Stannson out. It’s what landed him coaching the Ducks in the first place. It’s what got his knee busted by dude in the beginning of this movie and it’s what made Stannson cheap shot him here.
He’s better suited for coaching where he can inspire and not have it be about him.
