Hey, Zhang destroyed an advertising hoarding, what the heck, it's good for the game. Timo with his modest approach, and giving his opponent the finger after virtually every shot isn't going to get people talking about table tennis. You also have to consider the pressure, and expectation to win for Zhang. The Kung Fu kick was justified.

FUTURE 2070 I agree. He is the best allround player and overall-player ever. JO didn't have neither a backhand nor that fighting-spirit like ZJK, thats why I give it to Zhang. I know Waldner had the best serves and touch ever, but ZJK because of the things I mentioned, is the best overall-player ever. He is also a pioneer, because he and Ovtcharov invented the Backhand-banana-flip.
He kicked two commercial boards..I thought the second time was a replay... At 0:01 he kicked the board with his right foot on "Liebherr" board , and at 0:07 he kicked the board wit his left foot on the "DHS" board.
The match was really superb. Zhang JK was awesome whether against Aruna, Timo or Ma Long. He really deserves the title because he delivered fantastic table tennis along this tournament. This said, I was amazed that the referee did not give a yellow card as he kick into the separation. This is what should have been done and a report issued to record the incident. Then the proper disciplinary commission should proceed with the case and decide on the penalty. To retain the prize money is totally out of current rules of the game - and I dont understand the ground this was done. As for Zhang, his reaction is the result of the very high pressure he is constantly under. Win is something, winning continuously is probably much harder because in any match the opponent plays at its best to win against the champion. I dont believe Zhang behave is unfair to anyone, but sure to kick the ads is just stupid and totally inappropriate. I'm confident he will fix this issue and will behave more appropriately in the future. Thanks Jike for the awesome table tennis you deliver.

Totally agree that the fine was/is over the top. The ITTF should review the decision and change the fine amount to something much smaller. The punishment is not in scale when you compare similar behavior and fines in other sports.

I wonder what rule they claimed he broke to justify the fine? If it was "3.5.3.4", then they haven't had time to convene a Disciplinary Panel. I wouldn't be surprised if the ITTF has broken their own rules in handing out this punishment (much like the USATT did when attempting to discipline boycotting players a few years back.)

It seems hypocritical that the ITTF took away Jike's prize money for being unsportsman-like and not acting as a proper role model, yet the ITTF uploads an isolated clip of the incident on UA-cam (which is going viral by ping pong standards)... Especially with the title "Emotional...Celebration..." People in my office that know nothing of ping pong were talking about this event.

The second kick destroyed the Double Happiness (DHS) Logo. DHS is the biggest table tennis brand in China. They will not be amused ;-)
