    About the best and easiest working model dowel cutter to make, basically a large pencil sharpener. as old chisels can be found on car boot sales would cut one down and bolt it to the wood and consider a belt sander jig for sanding not that it is needed. always keep the fine sawdust for mixing with glue to make a matching wood filler.

    Nice design. I've been watching many videos on making dowels recently. This is one of the best I've seen so far. Do you think this would work for EPS foam or XPS foam? I need to make a polystyrene pattern for a machine I'm building and need a sure way to make a handful of 3/8" and 1/2" short dowels in foam.

    what changes would I make for other (smaller) size dowels ? Move the chisel ? Different / thinner piece of wood ? New to woodworking so more info pls

    • @ducatista1098s
      @ducatista1098s 2 роки тому

      You'd need a smaller die (the hole) and start with stock dimensioned small enough to fit the entry, e.g. square stock with side length slightly greater than your desired finish diameter.

    Cutting timber the way you are doing on the table saw 6;19 onward with loose hanging shirt sleeves is a bad accident waiting to happen. I am surprised that you would show such an unsafe and dangerous method in your video; the spinning saw blade only has to make the slightest contact with your shirt sleeve and you could easily lose an arm. The section of you using the saw in this dangerous manner should be edited out of the video or remake the video using safe and responsible procedures. Anyone reading my comment please take note' if you wear long sleeve shirt while working on the table saw; please roll your sleeves up above your elbow as far up your arm as you can and make sure they will not fall below your elbow when working on dangerous machines such as the table saw, router table, band saw, drop saw etc etc.

      Our woodwork teacher always starts class with a five minute safety talk which he always finishes with, 'ties off, sleeves all the way up and lets make something'

      you have a responsible teacher Seth; I wouldn't want the guy in this video teaching my kids or family member. Safety procedure is essential when it comes to working with these kind of machines.

    I wasn't going to say anything about bare knuckling the drill press. And then I could overlook the holding a hack saw blade with no handle.
