What Happened When the Hoop House Got Too Hot, This was definitely a learning experience.

  • I was so happy to get a hoophouse. I'm now not so sure it was the best way to go. Having to heat it in the winter and cool it in the summer is both time consuming and expensive. Shade cloth will probably help the summer heat issue, and I hope it does. Having to remove plants so that they don't suffer heat damage is a pain. I think I would much rather have a growing room in or attached to my home. I could accomplish all of the same goals without leaving the house and without the added cost of heating and cooling. If you've overcome hoop house issues like this, or have advice, I'd love to hear it. See you in SHTF, my Preparedness Family and Community.

Glad to see you are well. Hoop houses have a rough learning curve, great benefits but a lot of extra work as well. It's one of those old style benefits that are very unforgiving. Thanks for sharing!

We don't have a hoop house or greenhouse yet (looking at building a Walipini Greenhouse) I do have an indoor garden experiment going on and it is producing tomatoes, onions, lettuce, carrots, rainbow chard and basil.
