Watched the first half of this match in a Magrebi restaurant in Grenoble during my very last studies' year, before watching the rest on a big screen. Zidane first goal's reaction was unreal. The tension was so palpable before.

Ever since Zidane practiced his iconic headbutt, which came to an epic culmination in 2006 with an educational and inspirational headbutt against Marco Materazzi.

Look at both Zidane's headers. He came late to the ball and Brazil players did not expect that. I know goalscoring is not his primary skills but leaving a player like Zidane unguarded is a mistake. His positioning was on point. Amazing player.
Zidane was clever he did not show his heading ability until the final to catch Brazil ofgaurd

Bro replied 2 years later regardless 2006 zidane came of retirement and destroyed the mighty Brazil
It all started with the French team from St Etienne in the 70s, that gave momentum to the National French team at the beginning of the 80s, who inspired the team at the end of the 90s, who then inspired the current generation. Sometimes all you need is an inspiration to start a series of generations ! Just like the Germans, who win the world cup every 20 years.

I was 9 years old when we got satellite TV at home. First scenes were of Arsenal beating Barnsley back in 1998. Viera and Petit were in the side. So was Overmars and Bergkamp. Became a Gunner at that moment. After the French beat my home nation South Africa 3 - 0 in the group opener I new they would win this thing. South Africans love Brazil so I was dismissed as too young to know football. Even when Suker gave the Croatians the lead I knew the French would be back.
Also heavily favoured the Dutch due to the Arsenal influence. Greatest World Cup ever. A France v Netherlands final would have been the dream final but with the Zidane masterclass in the final that was the cherry on top. Great times. Must have been a jump in Paris after the match

The issue isn't that there aren't great players the issues is the standard in the modern game has improved meaning there is less of a gap between the best players and the middle-of-the-road players which means the great players don't stand out as much even though they are actually better.

Impedindo o jogo do Brasil pelas laterais.

Brazil had too many weak links! Rivaldo was the only threat, as we all know what happened to R9! Romario a big miss!
Just imagine beating this Brazil team 3-0. France were something special that day. Brazil were clueless about France defence. They were that much sensational in the final. Congrats France for this generation inspiring victory and 20 years later the young generation does it again. Brilliant 🔥 lots of love and respect from India 🇮🇳🇫🇷
J'avais douze ans. Merci pour ces souvenirs inoubliables
Catalyst for the best Football era/decade in my humble opinion 1999-2010
1998 World Cup was the best world Cup I've seen on tv ⚽️ 📺
1:48 : RIP Jacques Chirac
The last greatest one in Occident who said NO to U.S. imperialism.
Vive la France !
one funny & noticeable moment.
1:10:22 Youri Djorkaeff (№6) stands beside Roberto Carlos to watch his kick.
THAT (!) Roberto Carlos' famous free-kick goal against France was in 1997, one year before this final.
Youri Djorkaeff ever played tricky & therefore psychologically smart.
For example, at Euro-2000 against Spain he 'used some black magic' on Raul running around him right before the penalty kick.
P.S. Alain Boghossian (№14) who committed foul a moment earlier looks like Andrea Pirlo :)
Imagine, twenty-four years later, someone comes to discontent with the 8k technology and says it is not clear enough.i
