    The lime worked well for you. The soil also makes a big difference if you have a looser soil such as sand it will take less (40 lbs per 1k sq feet) you would need to double that amount if you have clay. On your initial soil test you had very low phosphorus which can happen with acidic soil. When you fertilize make sure you get a high phosphorus fertilizer ( some states it is illegal)

    Just remember a good rule of thumb also is for every bag of fertilizer throw a bag of lime. The nitrogen is what causes your PH to fall. It’s actually the nitrogen cycle byproduct is acid. So the number WI gave your for lime was calculated to raise your PH to desired level with the amount of fertilizer they said you need. But I can tell you it would’ve been a wast of money. Here’s why that CEC number they gave you is how well your soil will absorb the lime or nutrients you put down. Your number was kinda low. But it’s going to get better as long as you keep up the same regiment from now on. Pretty cool you mentioned me in the video. Can’t wait to see your plots.

    I’ve had great results with the plot boost as well, I also say no to the plot start, pelletized lime all the way.

    plot size matters. that 2.5 gal plot start jug is meant to be sprayed on 1 acre. if you spread it across more than an acre youre not going to see the results

    I've heard Jeff Sturgis say that those products are only good for that year, and it really doesn't improve your PH. I do think he has used it in the past, but not all the time. I'm would rather use pelletize lime myself as well.

      It just to much money to use both. That would be the best solution. Pelletized lime is just the way to go.

    Wait so you put 780 lbs on how much area?

    • @thebasshunter
      @thebasshunter  Рік тому +1

      I put that on a half of an acre. That not much. Most soil test calls for 2 to 3 tons per acre.

    • @CentralMississippiWhitetail
      @CentralMississippiWhitetail Рік тому

      @@thebasshunter that makes sense.. that’s like 1.5 ton per acre rate. You should’ve gotten a full point which probably will happen after a year. Thanks for sharing information.

    Wonder how much of your second results were the effect of the 1st lime.....? It's slow acting so maybe some of the results were off?

    • @thebasshunter
      @thebasshunter  Рік тому

      I doubt much because the second test was a year later.

    I’d like to know if the plot Dr liquid actually work, currently we use pelletized lime and spreader. I’m trying to get to powder ag lime bc it last longer I’ve heard. I also like liquid fertilizer

      The plot starter did not work for me. The pelletized lime works the best and it is more convenient than the liquid line. The liquid fertilizer does work it’s just not convenient. I would stick to the dry fertilizer and lime because it spreads easy and it’s convenient.

    I dont care if your growing rye grain or oats. Lime it and the deer will come like crazy.
