I LOVE this topic more than most people. All good advice- and Google sheets is the best way to go in my opinion.
They easily take the most time and work, but are the best fit/most customizable.
I’m gonna shoot you a txt on this 👍🏻

This video bored the piss out of me😜 I would have loved to see Julie's reaction when you told her you wanted a vault door on the room. Great video Mike.

I love that you doubled and tripled down that organization is different for everyone. We've discussed it a couple of times on our weekly show and that's something I always say. There's just no "one size fits all."
My biggest problem with a card hedge/ladder type platform is what you stated in that it doesn't track everything. I resumed to VCP, but they don't track vintage auto racing cards, which is a big focus of mine, and getting bigger.

After I crack a pack ....I Just wrap my common cards in Saran Wrap! I keep any cards like rc etc to the inside of pack....I go back through em a year or 2 later and sometimes you find a gem! ....

My collection is very small. My focus is Tigers and Lions team sets and a 1971 set. So, my only tracking device is a Word document with a list of needs. My haves are in a binder or a marked box.

Fantastic video! I'll add a resource I use for obscure vintage sets, when I either want info or a listing of what's in the set. Pick up an old copy of Catalog of Baseball cards by Sports Collectors Digest. I still use my copy from 2000. Fantastic for like Food cards, Regional Banks & Company cards etc.
I'll then throw that info into a spreadsheet to stay organized.

This was a good subject to discuss, Mike. I found an old episode of yours where you discussed scanning cards and using Zistle to organize, but then I found out they don’t exist anymore. I had actually thought about emailing you this week about safety deposit boxes and if you use them. Like you, I respect people that use them, but I want my cards with me, so I can enjoy them. Glad to hear your thoughts on this subject.

Great video Mike!... For sure, everyone has to find their own way to organize and track the collection.

    Mike
I love the spreadsheet idea I have a spreadsheet of each set I'm building where I highlight the cards as I get em, like wise I do the same thing with my A's team set slab collection. I need to build somethin though that tells me what slabs I do have and where they are (ie in what graded card box) I also want to build something for my A:s PC (raw cards) that had overwhelmed me completly as not sure if I go with year, manufacture, or player; and ofcourse I want to know what row of what 5 row box thet're in.
I need to do something soon, as the collection gets bigger it's just going to get more overwhelming unfortunitly

Bench clear media should do this add a manage, tracking, storage online system and charge a very small fee.

Great video Mike - the PSA Registry App works great for having a graded card inventory - can search by player, see a photo of card, PSA serial number, pop reports, pop reports higher, SMR/APR values, and add notes (purchase date & price, serial # 04/99, etc.). 98% of mine is PSA, but you can add other graded cards, just doesn’t have pop reports, values. Really like the app for completing sets as well.

Mike, thanks for the episode. Several years ago I thought it was a great idea to try to track my mess in an Access database. I lost interest after an hour! So, the morale of my story is I have the collecting gene par excellence but my organizing gene is recessive. Maybe once I retire I’ll get energized again and clean up and organize the pile. The spreadsheet is great though. How many MBs is it? By the way is that a box of 87 O-Pee-Chee behind you?

Don't feel bad, I tried the Access database myself and never finished it either. I was only an Access novice at the time so that probably had something to do with it.
