I’m so sad that he suffered so much with his bad knees and the treatment was intense and expensive, even in a wheelchair he owned the stage, he rocked until the end and gave his all, this version of the song is the best I’ve ever heard ,they should bring it out as an ep release in honour of the voice , so many people would buy it, it would even chart perhaps, Paul was the first taste of maiden I had, and loved the first album so much I was waiting for the second to come out straight away, after hearing Paul’s vocal, I found it hard at first to adjust to his voice and operatic scale, Paul was the best and nobody can ever take that away
@Bloodandiron65 Until he wasn't. Never in Rock & Roll history has a replacement lead singer completed a bad so perfectly and galvanized audiences worldwide like Bruce Dickenson. I know this is about Paul, but with Iron Maiden, Paul was merely a flash in the pan. I was 12 when Bruce took over Maiden and I'm 55 today, and Bruce still commands the show. That's insane!
@johndegg1605 Have you heard the Bruce Dickinson Audition tapes from 1981, where Bruce sings Killers. It was insane! I had goosebumps listening to it. Bruce singing the iconic "Iron Maiden" song off the first album. Paul, in his short time with Maiden, certainly had his moments, but was never meant to go the distance. In the end, wheelchair Paul simply couldn't carry the load and demand of being the face and front man of Iron Maiden. Bruce, in his sixties, is still perfect as the lead singer.
Yes I have I am not saying Bruce is a bad singer it's just he hasn't got that rough but of a voice Paul had and I should know the only time I have not seen iron maiden in concert was when they played monsters of rock so I have seen Paul lots of time with maiden and seen Bruce a lot more first saw maiden supporting Judas priest in British steel tour and not missed them since
@johndegg1605 Wow. My first time seeing Maiden, I was 10 at Navy Pier in Chicago at a summer festival called Chicago fest or Summer fest. Dianno was the singer, it was 1980, and Maiden was largely unknown and did a noon concert at a small stage. There were about 75 to 100 people checking them out. A child with my older brother, who was 12, my sister was 6 and my mom. The 1st album Eddie logo was up in the background behind Clive Burr and his drum set. I knew nothing of Maiden at the time, obviously, but little did I know, this band would play a major role in my life as I grew older, became a puffer, and began buying their cassettes later in life. My 1st cassette ever was in 1982, Number of the Beast. I still have it at 55. Maiden is the best!!!
Brilliant voice by Paul, absolutely brilliant, Always been a great fan of Paul Di'Anno from Iron Maiden always. Rest in Peace Paul and God Bless (1958-2024)🙁😢😪🙏💔
Been listening to early Maiden for the past few days in honor of Paul Di Anno’s passing. Hearing this song yesterday, I thought there shoul d be a photo montage video to go along with this great, great song…AND HERE IT IS. Thanks.
People - god knows why - rave about Bruce, but it was Paul's voice that put them on the map with that first EP and two LPs. Personally, I remember my disappointment at hearing their new singer when Number of the Beast came out. I met Paul on a few occasions and he was always so humble and down to Earth. Last time I saw him live was about 18 months ago at his return to the UK. He actually cried on stage at the audience's welcome for him - that was at KKs Steel Mill. RIP Paul, you really will be missed.
