    Love your work and ideas from a fellow eNC resident. I've created workbenches in my attached garage with countertops and 15 inch shelf brackets and mounted them to my walls with some GRK lags. I do want to make a workbench like the one your making on casters as well.

    Love your videos and your presentation, we all make mistakes and when you do you correct them you don't go back and refilm to make everything seem perfect. Watching you feed the wood through the table saw I shudder since for the most part you aren't using a push block or push stick, I have used my 5hp table saw for 35 years and thankfully I still have all my fingers but have learned that a push stick and or a push block has saved me many times over the years. Can't wait for more videos , thank you

    Nice job mate. For the little clamping blocks, I guess it didn’t work because of the tape, glue it directly to the stretchers, it will come off with a lateral hammer tap with a little sanding afterwards… my 2 cents.. 😉

    • @brs3932
      @brs3932 Рік тому

      I think it's because CA glue has great tension strength against pulling apart (remember the old ads with the guy hanging from his hard-hat glued to a beam?) but poor shear strength, the direction your clamps were pulling. Directions on the old bottles would say that if you accidently glued your fingers together not to try to pull them apart as it would rip your skin, but twist your fingers instead.

    I think this video is brilliant 👍 The supports/bearers are the skirt, not being comical either. I have to say a bit disappointed you didn’t use a push stick putting timber through the saw, sorry had to be said. I appreciate you not using the blade guard for visual clarity of the video. No offence intended by my comments it’s just that a lot of DIYers watch your videos and gives them the idea it’s okay which is not safe.
    As I said brilliant video and I’ve subscribed and will watch all your videos soon without making safety comments lol

    No expert but looked to me like you were attaching the tape to the stretcher and then CA glueing the block to the tape so when you apply clamp pressure you are simply relying on the strength of the tape glue bond which is not going to hold well at all. Hell maybe I missed something. Anyway great video. Always thorougly enjoy your posts.

Stretcher plates to fix base to top cos any expansion is gonna split the top, even more so with if it’s re engineered timber. Using the domino do 500 for this is scary, tenons not long enough, unfortunately you need to use ds700 in my humble opinion more so cos there’s no casters fitted. I’m only trying to be helpful
