    We visit Sanur at least twice a year and have tried most of the places you mentioned in this video. The two stand outs for us is M’bok Luh and Nasi Tekor. We try to visit many eateries when we visit but these two always have to have a few visits each trip. Just too good……

    We visit Sanur 2x a year and have a rule that we can't eat at the same place twice. This has meant we've discovered some great Warungs that we would have over looked if we ate at the same places. We do have a few that we visit every trip but only once 😊. There are so many that we are yet to discover and you keep making our list get longer 🙂. Thanks for all the great videos.

      From what I’ve been told, it will open up between Prama and Puri Santrian. At the moment, it’s still under construction and a building site that looks a good few months away from completion.
      The bad thing about the new location is that the beach out the front of it has just been washed away. A good 4 metres has simply gone and it’ll need to be rebuilt and reenforced. Even the trees there are under threat and the local massage ladies’ tables are under threat/not viable anymore.

    Thanks Adam for another great video. Money talks in Bali and now another great dining area has been destroyed in Pantai Duyung. A beach front resort that will replace this area will not compliant it. Out of protest we will never frequent this resort as I am sure the many frequent Sanur visitor will as well. I hope this will never be a winner.

    • @SanurDiaries
      @SanurDiaries  18 днів тому

      I definitely know how you feel. That little stretch of restaurants was fantastic. The new development can go one of either 2 ways. It either caters to the current Sanur crowd and offers what people really want such as a good beachside dining scene or goes all bold and flashy and tries to go upmarket and expensive which is not what Sanur people generally want.
      Let’s hope it sticks to what people who visit Sanur really want. Otherwise it might be a white elephant.

    Q. G’day Adam, is it true 12 businesses/cafes/ restaurants all around Coco Bistro on the beachfront have closed down to make way for a new resort? This area has always been our Sanur beachfront go to location for food and drinks…… If in fact it’s true, would you still recommend staying at the resorts in this immediate area, or would you now head further north or south for an accomodation base camp?

    • @SanurDiaries
      @SanurDiaries  17 днів тому +1

      That’s a tough one. It’s true that all the businesses are gone and as of today most are a pile of rubble. There aren’t many areas along the beach now with a cluster of restaurants except at Pantai Sindhu.
      For me, beachside dining isn’t important, but if it is for you, you’d be better of staying in the north near Pantai Sindhu.

    My faves are Wg Mbok Luh, Warung Lilla on northern end Jl Danau Tamblingan (not Lilla Warung in Bumi Ayu) Saigon Cafe for banh mie, PATIO Cafe for brekky and lunch and Malaika Secret Home resto for something completely different.

    Loved this one! We visited a few of the Warungs you highlighted but the video also highlighted that we only touched the surface. We fell victim to going back to the same places a few times, nothing wrong with that of course but on our next visit which we hope to be in mid October for a month we plan to open our horizons and try as many different places as possible. Think we are now over our fear of the "very local" Warungs. These videos are so informative, thanks again for your hard work.

    • @SanurDiaries
      @SanurDiaries  18 днів тому

      Fantastic to hear your perspective on local warungs. We’ve all been there and we sometimes forget that there is a big imaginary wall stopping us from visiting some of these places.
      I remember the first time I visited a Masakan Padang restaurant. It was terrifying. But as you get to understand what food is being served, what the cultural norms are, you become more comfortable with trying these places out.
      That doesn’t mean you have to like every place you visit either. I’ve visited plenty of local warungs where I didn’t like the food. You just need to figure out what you like and what you don’t like and base your decisions around that. For example, I don’t eat guts.

      Lilla Panta is apparently moving to between Prama and Puri Santrian and Coco Bistro is moving out of Sanur completely. To be honest, there is very little available land down that end of town and you kind of set up there at the whim of the land owner.
      I could imagine a few places along the beach front being converted to cafes and restaurants and there has been some of that in recent times, but they don’t seem to be popular… thinking of the avocado place and Costa by Monsta. Even The Beach down near Retro Beach isn’t as busy as you’d expect given its great location. May all this will change with the closing of this batch of restaurants. I hope so, because some of those places deserve a bit more love.

    Great video, would of loved to give our favourites but 12 of them closed the other day and the magic of sanur beach dining has left at the moment for us and was the reason we stayed in Duyung.
    We have 2 stays booked in Duyung but are rethinking the stay as we don’t want to be in the middle of the construction.
    Will they close Pantai Duyung while construction is going on . Will they close the beachfront path in front of construction.
    Sad day for sanur the beachfront dining was a big part of the magic for us.
    Once again thanks for your videos

    • @SanurDiaries
      @SanurDiaries  18 днів тому +2

      Yeah it’s sad to see those close. I think you can still get good beachside dining, just in a different area. Particularly up near the Sindhu end of town there is a large selection. Maybe that will be your go-to area from now on.
      There’s no denying that the construction in that area over the next year or so is not going to be good. I don’t know how big the next project is going to be, but it is a large piece of land and there is going to need to be a lot of trucks going up and down Jalan Duyung carting all the construction materials.
      I can’t imagine the beachfront path being closed at all, but I can imagine the decks overhanging the ocean coming down. They’re under threat as it is from the ocean itself, so it doesn’t take a big leap of logic to say that they will also be taken down.
      Let’s hope something fantastic is created there!

    Hi Adam, is it true that all of the beachfront businesses at Duyung Beach will be closed permanently and the area will be replaced by a big beach club business?

    • @SanurDiaries
      @SanurDiaries  18 днів тому +1

      Not really. As you come down Jalan Duyung and hit the beach, everything to the right is gone. So that includes places like Coco Bistro, Oomba, Lila Pantai and The Nest. They are the most popular along that stretch. Some along this stretch were on borrowed time anyway because they had no customers.
      So while it’s sad to see these businesses disappear and that area of the beachfront gone, there are still some places around. To the left is Seagrass and La Playa. Lilla is moving further south. The Nest has already opened further south.
      So while it’s true that what is happening down there is terrible news, there are some slivers of light. If you stay on Jalan Duyung, I don’t think it’s going to be as good as it was. Changes are afoot.
      I’ll try and give my best update to the situation in my next Sanur Sessions episode.

    Hey Adam great vlog as usual! Do you have any information on all the restaurants that have had to move (around lilla p 13:22 antai)? What are the plans for this area and any idea of timelines? We are planning on staying nearby on July and was looking forward to exploring this area so we are a bit disappointed that it will be completely dead ...😢

      It will still be dead in July it’s fair to say. I’ve read a lot about the plans for the beachfront there and most people don’t have first hand information. Most people are either saying it will be a beach club or a resort which makes sense.
      There’s also a lot of talk about who owns the land and the politics behind it. We just need to hope that the land holders have the best interests of Sanur in mind.
