Just ordered this boat from arkmodel with stock settings and finished assembly last month, while the experience is not very good, the boat nose tilts up if I give thrust, I have to keep the dive panel down to keep the boat in a balanced state. I tried adding some triming to the dive panel and also tried moving the cg forward but not working, I'm wondering if there's a solution for this. :( Is it necessary to replace the stocking WTC ?
If the boat is trimmed in a balanced state while stationary, then there are dynamic forces overcoming the boat's stability when underway. You need to increase static stability by adding weight low in the hull and then offsetting that with foam high up in the hull (below the surfaced waterline). This will increase static stability and help to overcome the dynamic forces acting on the boat when underway. Check your control surfaces such as dive plane orientation as well.
Wow. Very impressive. The motor seems overpowered as the real sub could never maneuver that quickly. It looked the most realistic in slow motion so I guess it's up to the operator to control the realism just like most model trains, cars, and planes. Thanks for sharing.
Do you find that the twin rudder configuration on the Type VIIC gives you a shorter turning circle than a single rudder? Also, was the twin rudder incorporated on the Type XXI?
It's all about total surface area rather than number. XXI was a single rudder configuration. Compared to modern subs, the old WW2 boats were pretty nimble. Modern subs with their tiny rudders (with exceptions such as the beautiful and very effective x-tail configured boats) take AGES to turn around.
Hirmh... You never showed it fully diving... Can it even dive below the snorkel inlet and resurface? Seems like a key feature is missing if it cannot do so. :x
he explained it at the end of the video, the sub is trimmed light so you don't lose it until you get used to controlling the sub. Once you get more experience you can add weight so it will submerge fully.
For a first RC sub, which one would you recommend? The Revell 1/72nd or this model? I understand the Revell is made as a static model and is basically converted to RC so I assume you would need to improvise more compared to this that is made for RC and the planes are already set up for that.
Bob, mabey you could help me out with a problem. I have a old type VII C model from D K Models that has been sitting in dry dock for some time, and I would like to get her running , problem is that the kit did not come with any of the deck hardware , deck guns , hatches ect , and I know that Dan doesn't produce this kit anymore . I was wondering if you might know of some other source that I might obtain these parts in 1/48 scale . Any help would truly be appreciated , and bye the way , your reviews are the greatest , keep up the good work ! Gino
Regarding "flat deck breaking surface tension" - I suspect it isn't about surface tension. It's about flat deck being a big plastic part. Styrene plastic is lighter than water, it has similar density to that of gasoline. It just floats.
I'm really impressed Bob, it even dives like the real boat. You are the sales rep here in the States for that boat, am I right? How much you're selling it for? Thanks, Brian
Lol I know I started this one and bought a lot of stuff to do it, most of the basic work is done I just dont have the time or knowledge to install the wtc and set it up
There are two Russian diesel subs for sale in the west indies . Or there were last time I looked . Don't know how much they want for them . But I think 32 mil would be more then enough !
“ALARM! FLOOTEN! TOUCHEN DAS BOOT!”
(Great job. I’ve never seen an RC sub before. Guess I should get to my 1:350 scale VII project - lol)
BEAUTIFULLY WEATHERED,FABULOUS SUB.
Amazing job Bob built this for me
It’s cool to know that someday I might get a notification saying, “12 foot RC U-Boat.” On your channel. Hahaha! You would be the guy to do it!

@@RCSubGuy Thank you...I served aboard a Baleo Class Converted Fleet Sub- USS Sablefish (SS-303). DBF.- Hence my interest in submarines.

Glad to see someone actually watched the video through! Thanks!

Great work...that is really cool
Are we going to see that model in any movie soon? Awesome looking
Does it actually sink under the water and still move underwater
Are there any models of the I-400 class of submarine?
I don't know of any I-400 kits, but there are a few B class boats, notably the Lindberg model kit.
RCSubGuy awe :( well thanks for the reply though!
you should put a camera attachment that synchronizes to your phone so you can navigate under water better
Wireless video operates on GHZ frequency. No transmission through water. Sorry.

You are lucky I wasn't there with my rc antisub albatross.
What kind of remote do you use with this
Magnífico, si señor. Este cabalero me hace pasar unos magníficos momentos. Gracias.
If I get back to it can I email you for help/questions

What is your average price to build or finish one?
Each project is different (radically). A basic build might be $2000. An involved one... $10,000? These are not cheap toys.

Pertemba40 - You can order directly from my site at www.nautilusdrydocks.com at a price of $395 plus shipping!
Are you also selling them in dubai and India

Do you still build? I have an un- finished gato class
