Delhi's WORST Neighborhood? 🇮🇳

- India, Delhi, Paharganj. A lot of people kept telling me to avoid Paharganj as it is the worst neighbourhood in Delhi, so I went to find out for myself!
I walked around the neighbourhood and found people to be very friendly and hospitable. As I walked around for a couple of hours, I also got hungry so I decided to sample the local selection of street food!

As an English tourist who takes regular extended trips to India I can categorically state that Paharganj is nowhere *near* Delhi’s ‘worst’ area.

Fly into Delhi from London about 0130ish, out of the airport, into a dodgy taxi and in bed by 0330. up at 10 for aloo paratha and chai in the Madan cafe before a stroll up the Main Bazaar to see who's hanging around & what's occurring. Then f**k off up the mountain for some herbal stress relief :D
@@unklemunky8992 Ditto except it's Varanasi and 'herbal' milk drinks for me :D. The place I used to go to for lassis in paharganj has closed I've noticed (on the corner opposite Subway), you (or anyone else) know of any alternatives? Eternal gratitude awaits!

I had no doubt that people were gonna be friendly and nice to you as you are always smiling. If you go in there expecting something bad to happen then it probably will, but you have a great experience, and great video to watch. People are nice everywhere!
Paharganj in Old Delhi is worst place in the country where most foreigners go when they land first in India. Paharganj is heaven for scammers and outrageously dirty, close to it there is huge red light area full of drug addicts. foreign people go there have bad experiences and then that's their impression of the country. it is the worst place in India. it's a pattern that worst places in India are most visited by foreign tourists and best places are least visited by them. India's tourism ministry is not doing enough to make foreign tourists know about best places in India. by the time local Indians recommend good and beautiful places foreigners are already gone.
I love Paharganj. I ended up staying a week there in the end ❤️

There r so many awesome places to visit in Delhi but what surprises me is that why do foreigners mostly end up in such areas..this is what western media show abt us . Like seriously..

It's technically curiousity and first hand experience that tourists look for. If I were in USA, I would try to go to California, Skidrow and Figrow street and document it. Those two places are the worst there, with ghetto gangsters, slums , drugs , prostitutes.. you name it and it's there. It's like a totally dangerous place. Look at some docs on YT and you will know. There are some other places as well in USA , another place is Kensington.

I agree, Bro Ali is such a nice and generous person, but he ends up showing only poor and dingy places and streets in india one after other with repeating patterns , he can be a little creative and resourceful and can see historic and naturally breathtaking places in india which are in plenty, unfortunately if he continues showing chaotic and extremely poor areas as a pattern ,he would not be able to add many Indian subscribers who don't enjoy to much of only such representation of the country

I think the perception is sometimes misconstrued because of what may be expected. If you are outgoing & polite you encourage the same response. Not in every case of course but most often. Ali try paneer its yumyy its made from tofu some time with milk its vegetarion but its delious try it with naan or rice(my mom has worked10 years with indian family so i know lit bit know indian foods)!!!! Defintly try buriyani from estate to estate its different gulab jamun, milkpayasam, kheer, carrot halva.... Try these foods..... 💕🥰

This is my favourite place in Delhi. It’s where i base myself when I’m there. And when i miss india i watch vlogs just like this! Like you said,you just need not to be stupid. Just like many other places. I’ve always found the people to be polite and welcoming. Plus it’s great shopping!

for best sweets in the world you need to visit Kolkata. best time to visit there is December to February the winter time. during this time the sweets there are made from date Palm jaggery instead of sugar and taste heavenly.

i think while most western countries have culture of tipping we indians never had this thing it's ingrained in our brains that we have to work hard to earn money and we will only accept what we really earned and deserve. Some Indians even consider tipping as an insult or like someone is looking down on you so most Indians don't accept tips. And that's why you will rarely see any Indian tipping anyone.
There might still be some people who are open to tipping so for foreigners it's gets kinda confusing.

Even most Delhi locals would not dare to visit the Paharhanj area 😂😂….a very sketchy place even for Indians. Bro you gotta check out Gurgaon area especially Cyber City…or visit the Hauz Khaz village that’s where the most locals go to hang out…

Very sketchy? Not in muliple visits have I or my wife ever felt in danger, not even when arriving for the 1st time at 2am and had to find our hotel after fleeing our scamming taxi driver. We love the place.

Yes they looked delicious, but the seller took them without gloves so with his bare hands and handled money in between. Seems nobody's worried about hygiene.
@@loislane7958 you use gloves to protect your(seller's) hands and not food 😅. If your hands get dirty, your gloves would too, also you might actually not get ill rrom these,

Go to Lutyens Delhi or south Delhi, instead. It’s the best part of the city. Locals usually stay away from old Delhi or Paharganj

Hi Ali ☺️ loving your India videos. My husband and I always stay in Paharganj . I can't remember the hotel name but its a 3 ⭐ about 30$ USD very clean, cute, free breakfast, and nice staff. I've never had a problem . We once arrived by bus around 3am because we were coming from a rural area. I love my India and have no problem staying and walking around this area. Take proper precautions as women and know the country your visiting etc.. Jai Hind and Shukria Ali ☺️🥰God bless
