I currently own this car.. Guy in video handed off to friend and friend sold to me. Car now has plates and on the road. So far fixed power steering issues (Converted to manual), Adjustable A arms (Front end damaged possibly), ripped out old wiring and rewired completely, fixed exhaust leaks, New carb, Rear end input seals replaced, installed 69 mustang seats, new shifter, replaced headlights, new electric fan(s) and radiator, New tires all around (Back tires 1/2 way worn from burnouts!), fixed frame damage, cleaned up dash, installed 20 gal fuel tank and more that I am forgetting. Its a fricken blast. In the future will be new rear end gear with posie (Limited slipnow), mustang II conversion, and engine rebuild.
Those 429s were the best running stock Ford motors ever built! My uncles 69 LTD would burn rubber from a stand stop yhrugh all three gears on that chili. My cousin used to drive it around when we 16 .It had 250k miles on it n still ury the needle pass 120 mph ! And we were all smoked up to boot ! Drove it to Fla n back I. 1976!
I love those Mavericks and Comets. That big block sure looks massive and heavy in that engine bay. Aluminum heads, intake, carb, water pump and a fiberglass hood would lighten up that front end some.
Amazing.... my step brothers old project car! As soon as I saw 429 grabber and mismatched panels... cobra emblem on rear firewall and smiley on the trunk!
Had a 70 Grabber, built 302 with ported 289 hi po heads, built C-4,and a ford 9in with 3:89 trac loc gearing, it was a great daily driver and would run 12 flat all day...lost it in 2002 due to a blowout on some old bias ply tires, rolled the car but I'm still alive ,I just drive a little slower now
Some of the stock intake manifold on the big block Ford's are better flowing than the aftermarket ones. Especially when it's the doove heads and intake.
They definitely put stock manifolds to make fitment better. It's hard to get headers to fit on a 351w in the Maverick. I just bought a 1970 Maverick with a 200 in it for $1000 and it looks AMAZING, has a cracked exhaust manifold but that won't matter since I'm getting a 4 door Maverick with a 302 as parts car for a V8 swap.
I sure would like a closer peek at the shock towers. If the car had been parked in reverse direction, it would have showed off the under the hood goodies much better. Can you post an updated video of it?
if it doesnt already have headers good luck putting them on there i had to develop a whole new set of cusses for putting the headers on my newly 302 powered 75 comet it is a very narrow engine bay
That is when the cars, were true cars, now I don*t know if your car was a 6 cylinder or8 cylinder, cause th add t 429 looks good in that maverick, if you try that now with a new car, it*s not going to work, due to all the wiring, computer items that it uses.
Probably about the same as Ford had to do in order to shoehorn the Boss 429 motor into the '69 Mustang. I remember some years back seeing a Pinto with a 460 under the hood.
You can see the driver's side shock tower at 3:14. It's cut back and plated. Impressive stiffening brace in there too. But damn that valve cover is close to the master cylinder, if the motor mounts are a bit soft there might be contact there!
ive had 6 mavericks and one was was a 72 6 cyl grabber, 4 lug car with the grabber hood and original grabber decals and I now have a 71 grabber , huh that's weird
Yeah that is cause I have a 74 grabber and I wanted to learn more about them and I saw a documentary on them and it said they didn’t introduce the grabber until 73 I guess they were wrong

I think he meant INTAKE manifold...
Never knew the Maverick could accept a 429. My friend's brother put a 351 Windsor in a 73. It was fast
You can see the shock towers have been modify.
I love Maverick man I had a 70 grabber and I wish I never sold it. Got any new videosof the car I would like to see them if you do

Adam Largent cut in to the shock tower's and reinforce them

My brothers grabber was a 72 that had the 302 5 lug wheels he cut the shock towers out and put a straight axle and put in a healthy 460 in it
that's a lot of cast iron up front....
It looks fast ...
