    Option 5: Sell blood plasma, because all of those other methods are a crap shoot.

    As always another great video. I've always struggled with being able to get my hobby to support itself, it takes a lot of effort and time, the best I've achieved is supplemental income. I'll never give up my dream of actually making money in this hobby.

    Somehow, whenever I try this, I always end up spending more than I make. My wife reminds me of this every time I try to explain why I "needed" to buy this new coral.

    I’ve made money already with a single 20g cube. Im going to start on more tanks soon but I have so many euphylia growing and splitting already and have gotten big colonies for so cheap. So many people buy basic color corals for 20 a head no problem. I’ve sold the nicer green wth blue tips at 30 and people also have no issue and I make profit, I also live in Miami where there’s a good 4 salt water stores within 2 miles of my house. The hobby is huge in south Florida

      Where do you sell the corals? Like what app or source and do you have any tips for selling them.

      @@hamidinagamov3540 OfferUp honestly. In my area nothing gets more views than fish stuff for me, and I try to sell video games and other electronics too. I’ve gotten corals dirt cheap too. I live in south Florida though and as you can expect the reefing community is huge here. Nearly every supply for our reefs comes from here besides live stock

      @@Jp-gc6bh thank you very much. I also use offer up to buy and sell, mostly fish and aquariums. Im in orlando and the fish community is huge. What corals sell the best on offer up and to a store.

      @@hamidinagamov3540 euphyillia man, I’m new to reefing and don’t grow sps. I know sps sells a lot for sure bud euphyillia really sells. Hammers,frogspawn,torches. Just could be a little hard to sell big colonies so it’s always break them down and sell them by like 1-4 head frags for nice prices

    How about breeding fish, and sell them similar to selling frags on a small scale and relatively easy but highly sorted breed (certain clowns, Banggai)?

    • @tidalgardens
      @tidalgardens  7 років тому +1

      That is a great one I totally forgot! If you are good at breeding fish, that's certainly a route you can go with your system to generate some funds.

    Hi, Tan
    You mentioned that a combination of MH and T5s is better for Coral growing!
    Why do you think other companies like WWC use only Radions?

      In t5 fixtures, the bulbs will decrease in performance so they have to change the bulbs. And if you have more than 50 tanks and changing all those bulbs will be hard labor and time-consuming. plus if it's a big company with money they can afford to buy all of them and to pay more for less work.

    I run a reefer 170. No problems until now. My filter sock is clogging up with some kind of clear slime. Brand new socks clog within 8 hours. Water quality appears to be good. Fish and everything are fine. Test kits show no ammo or nitrate. Any ideas?

      Also the tank is about 6 to 8 months old. Change 5 gallons once a week. Very confused. Please advise

    • @svenhoeppermanns5629
      @svenhoeppermanns5629 7 років тому

      5 gallons is way short of what it should be. at least 10% should be changed a week , or 20% every 2 weeks

      Have you checked phosphate levels? Hanna checker is best to use for this as it gives a digital reading. Do you know your micron rating for the filter sock 10 micron is small and fills up quick where as a 150 micron sock would last longer

      A reefer 170 is a 43g system

      James Towns using 225 micron socks. Used to not have this issue. I could run several days before needing to clean it out.

    I have a carbon fibre tank which is about 80 gallons and I'm thinking of converting it into a saltwater pond but only have live rock and fish in there. No corals. I already have a reef tank but I feel like buying cowfish and lionfish to keep in the pond. Is that a good idea? Cause of I do that I can move my green spotted puffers to the pond as well. I can't decide between keeping some predator fish or just keeping clowns and a school of chromis I can't decide ahhhhh
