      I definitely test my water also, but I also observe as data on a test doesn’t tell everything. I send in an ICP test every 2-4 weeks

    these videos are incredibly entertaining.... never stop! John says he doses only bacteria, I've been seeing more and more people have success with this... do you know what brand he's using?

    He has some beautiful corals 💜 I love his approach to Reefing. Oldschool. He goes by feel mainly and sight that's how I would do it in the 80s & 90s when I had my Saltwater Aquariums. Love that big tank . Vice can you make a video in the future about all the Corsls you've picked up from all these visits? If you could it would be really cool. Thsnk you another banger video bro. 🎉✌🐟🐟💙

    9:51 Usually WWC gives great advice, but I think maybe Vic was just a little over caffeinated. Saying good reefers don't test their water often? 🤯I understand being in tune with your tank and understanding that there are issues by spotting coral behavior, but that statement feels a little extreme. John was just saying he didn't test par, in fact 14:36 he goes into his history of monitoring PO4 and he knows all his water parameters off the top of his head.. now that's a good reefer. 🤓

    Nice video…what does he do to maintain alk and calcium?

    • @thirstyjay305
      @thirstyjay305 Рік тому +1

      I mainly do kalkwasser via a stirrer on my top off.
      I also run a calcium reactor but I’d say Kalk is 90% of it

    My mentor passed away in 1995 and his wife gave me a pile of fish crap that I still pull out of. I was running 6 foot long VHOs up until LEDs became the norm. I still have some unused 6 foot VHO bulbs because he stockpiled actinic bulbs.
    He got it in his head actinic were going to be illegal for some reason and that they were the secret to growing coral. He was right about the actinic growing coral well. He had one of those homemade 500 gallon tanks made with livestock troths and a thick piece of glass silicone to the front. I still wish I had gotten that thing somehow. His tank in '95 rivaled anything today except we just didn't have colors like now. Bright brown SPS was the norm even with 600 watts of actinic.
