There’s a ton of tutorials on this car for changing the belt. Yours was by far the most straight forward and showed EVERY step which a lot of people missed. I was having trouble figuring out the order of loosening the two 13mms for the tensioner. You covered it perfectly by showing the timing and direction for it. THANK YOU.
4 years later and I’m needing this video. Watching a bunch of other videos I didn’t get a clear understanding until I ran into this one. Now I feel comfortable doing it and not paying the $400+. Appreciate your time and quality of the video! Great Job!
Thank you so much for this, I just got this replaced on my girlfriends car and got her back on the road in less than 30 minutes. Your video made this whole job painless and again we both thank you! Cheers!
very straight and to thr point and the directions are clear and most of all you don't miss steps... which is much appreciated. Most channels miss something and then you get lost when doing it yourself and you think, "oh no... this wasn't in the tutorial. Now what do I do??!" Great video.
Your video helped a lot, just changed the belt on my 2018 no problem using this vid, car runs so much better. I’m a visual learner, You pressing on the belt and bending it to show tension really helped me gauge the tension, thank you!
Just did this myself , was pretty hard core haha. This video makes it look like Legos. You cant really see very much its mostly feel, but the video pointing out where to feel was a great help! The pully bolt was on pretty dang tight. Very good camera angles, getting those clear images is no joke.
Yup, the idler pulley nut on my 2013 Versa very tight. What did you use to break it free? I had to go get what Harbor Freight calls a Go-Through style socket set and ratchet.
Thank you for your video. Your angles allow great visibility and your explanation is concise. You also explain how to gauge the tension to the belt. Great tip!
Great tutorial. I really knew what i was getting into because of this. I did mine yesterday on my step-sons car. Alternator and belt. Took me a little over an hour start to finish and i was able to do everything from up top. i would say this it only possible if you have long skinny forearms. It was tight but doable.
Hey man! The pulley was insanely tight on there lol do you recommend tightening it back up like it was? Getting a little bit of a squeal noise at startup for like 3-5 seconds….
Great tutorial on how to replace the belt! but I’m having trouble with the belt making squealing sound when I turn the car on be then it goes away a few seconds later but then when I turn my ac on it squeals a lot and goes away after a minute
They recommended I should look at replacing this belt and quoted me $170 for parts and labor. All I need is this UA-cam video and the belt costs less than $20. Only thing I don't have is a car jack, but even buying one would be cheaper than getting it replaced for $170
Yea a jack would be very useful and im sure itd pay off over time if u do other things like brakes etc..u might also try turning the wheel all the way to the right maybe it might give u enough room to do it without lifting it
Hi, nice video thanks! The compressor pulley in the end of your video is not spinning, however. Is that not a problem? (My compressor pulley also doesn’t turn for a couple of seconds and then starts turning, not sure if it means I did something wrong.
So great video by the way. I just replaced the belt on a 2018 Nissian versa and it's squeling pretty good. I've done many belts without an issue. I thought Maybe I over tensioned it
@@backyardchevy328 I over tightened the pulley I think that was main problem. Basically I got it back to good bye playing with the tensioner and the pulley bolt until the car didn't squeal anymore.
The pulley part is spinning, the clutch which is the front part of the ac compressor doesnt engage til the ac button is pressed..so if i had turned on the ac, the pulley plus clutch would of been spinning as long as it had enough refrigerant
Good video. Seems same layout of my March 2013 except mine takes a longer belt the 1165. A mechanic tried the smaller belt but couldnt get it on then put old belt back on, 1 week later belt broke in 2 and it broke the AC coil wire. Got a temporary 6PK1165 and a different mechanic put that on, said the pully bracket was bent so he bent it back. AC company changed coil and its been running bad and noisy since then. Waiting on Nissan factory belt - 7PK1165. Would slimmer belt possibly cause rattling noise as you gas it and more if the AC is on? Plus lack of power and extreme lack of power with AC on (before belt broke there was a little loss of power but not like this). Checked computer and no error codes or misfires. Engine does shake too much though. I might try and put the right belt on myself this time. Its very hard to reach though.
You're lucky that idler pulley nut came off so easily. Mine was tight and a open end wrench wouldn't do the trick and almost rounded it off. My Kobalt 3/8 drive ratchet wouldn't fit over the nut with the socket attached because the sheet metal of the unibody was too close to the pulley nut. My 1/4 drive fit but it broke when trying to loosen that nut. I ended up going to China Freight Tools to buy a push through style socket and ratchet set. It looks like a ratcheting wrench with sockets that are shallow and have a hex flats on thr outside. Spent more time messing with the damn splash shield and putting the wheel back on than changing the belt lol.
Well the bolt in the middle is what holds it in place and keeps it from moving so u gotta loosen it to be able to move the pulley with the adjusting/tensioner bolt when ur removing tension or applying tension
Anyone have any tips/tools on how to get that tensioner bolt off if it’s too tight? I used a 13 mm wrench but it felt like Hercules couldn’t even get that loosened.
The one on the pulley? Or the long adjuster bolt?...youll want to loosen the pulley bolt first..this will allow the long adjuster bolt to move back and forth bringing the pulley forward or back.
Great video, been looking for this, followed your instructions and successfully replaced my serpintine belt, tensioned the belt so I can flex 90 degrees like you did, started the engine and there was squeaking coming from the belt, took it for a spin and the squeak stops at high rpm but it's comes back at a low rpm, so I tensioned the belt a bit more and the squeak is not loud as before, I don't wanna over tension the belt, can you please advise on what I can do to stop the squeak completely, thanks.
Thank you🙂 how far can u rotate it..if it goes past 90 it would be too loose or does it barely reach 90 degrees? I do it so i can barely reach the 90 degrees..if the rubbers new it shouldnt squeal if its at proper tension and installed in the pulleys properly
