Cocobuki really is a goated older brother and mentor. He willingly puts his life on the line for his brother having the confidence that he would be strong enough to tank being drained and total faith in his brothers and you his star pupil to defeat the demon without him AND after surviving the ordeal he uses the experience to drive home the point to his brothers that theyre all talented thamaturges in their own rights and even to finally make Cocobusi realise that even though he cant be a thamaturge like his brothers he has his own talents, talents that ultimately helped save cocobukis life and is something he should be proud of
This is very fun to see, as a seasoned blm main used to all the max level tools and my only experience at lower levels are losing those tools, it’s increadibly fun to see someone tackling the challenge and enjoying the lower levels. I truly hope you keep on playing it:) Blm rotation itself is easy but managing your movement is such a rewarding playfeel when you get it right. And while blm is by far imo the most chore job to play casually it’s very fun to get good at. So keep on trucking

Have you not done the 'My feisty little chocobo' quest to get your chocobo mount as a companion to fight alongside you? Having your chocobo tank the mobs makes levelling BLM way easier. Works for all jobs actually. There's also an unadvertised way to level chocobos all the way to 20 and fully unlock all 3 talent trees (tank/dps/heal), so you can switch to whichever is most useful.

So, the BLM rotation, especially at level 60, is actually pretty simple. Besides the opener, all you have to do is use fire 4 to do big damage, use fire 1 to maintain the timer on the gauge and use blizzard 4 when you go back to ice. That and maintaining thunder, of course. A few fun facts (sorry for all the text i just really like talking about the job 😅): 1) With flare, you mentioned on stream you love doing double flares but... Did you know you can actually do quad flares? When you use freeze, it gives you umbral hearts. And when having at least 1 umbral heart, flare will consume only 2/3 of your mana. The real fun comes in when Manafont actually gives you 100% of your mana back AND umbral hearts, so you can literally just Flare x2, manafont, Flare x2. 2) Fire 3 isn't actually better than fire 1 for your rotation, since it takes too long and costs too much to be worth it, so that's why you should refresh the gauge timer with Fire 1 instead of Fire 3 3) When in astral fire, the cost of fire spells is doubled, and you can only negate that with umbral hearts, so that's why using blizzard 4 is better than blizzard 3 when switching back to umbral ice, blizzard 4 gives you umbral hearts What makes it hard is doing all this while moving as little as possible 😅
yea him hardcasting Fire and Ice 3 really hurt my soul... and though while quad-flare my look nice.. shouldnt he use double-fire2 after using manafont first, before casting a another double-flare?
@@CaffeinatedDad the flow of rotation from level 60 onward would be Ice phase Blizzard 3 (Single Target) or 2 (AoE) to start the phase -> Thunder for dot -> Blizzard 4 (Single Target) or Freeze (AoE) for MP and Umbral Heart -> Fire Phase Fire phase Single Target Fire 3 to start the phase -> Fire 4 * 3 (use all 3 umbral heart) -> Fire 1 to refresh the timer -> Thunder for dot -> Fire 4 * 3 (using the remaining mana) -> back to Ice For AoE Fire 2 to start the phase -> Fire 2 (Unlike Fire 3 being slower than Fire 1, Fire 2 is faster than Flare) -> Flare * 2 -> back to Ice Later, you will get more instant spell and Triplecast (make your next 3 cast instant) for movement. You would still need to plan when to use them sometimes if the fight demands it, though.

there's this achievement in Shadowbringers where if you have all jobs released up until Shadowbringers to level 80, you get a special mount. That being Gunbreaker, Paladin, Dark Knight, Warrior, White Mage, Red Mage, Scholar/Summoner, Bard, Machinist, Dancer, Samurai, Monk, Dragoon, Ninja, and Black Mage. Black Mage was the final job I leveled for this achievement. you can imagine why...
When doing any kind of field content (fates, quests or just leveling) your chocobo is your best friend, i recommend healer skills for it first cause it can out heal most mobs letting you tank regardless of job. Also when first switching to an ARR job (low levels) buy gear from the NPC vendors in any town. Its cheap and super helpful. Lastly if you complete the Hall of the Novice you get a ring that has nice stats but also grants bonus xp below level 30.
black mage is honestly my fave job. Took me forever to "get it" but when it clicks, it all makes sense. And the fact yoshi is a BLM Lalafell doesnt hurt either.
You can actually add a 'slide cast monitor' to your hotbar. Drag an emote onto your hotbar and the moment it goes from greyed out to normal is the moment you can slide cast.
For me I chose BLM as my starting class after downloading the game. I didn't know that it was the slow class to level so when starting I just thought this was how jobs played. Half way through Heavensward I switched to Machinist and saw what other classes could do. I then spent the next months finishing the MSQ and dabbling in all the other jobs before settling on tanks and healers while occasionally leveling up my BLM with extra MSQ xp. I'm glad I did this because for this expansion I decided only selfish jobs for me and picked back up the BLM to main for raiding. BLM with it's toolkit unlocked is so much fun but I have refused to play it when I have to level sync below 60. I know this expansion made some changes to those levels but I'm not taking the bait. Regardless though it is such an interesting job that I would recommend everyone to at least try and see if they like it.
The BLM is no hard or complicated just need time to get use to it, the opener some times can get a bit hectic but is the fun part, i gona leave a tip for gear, if you have no gear and need some to start you journey on a new class, can be buy on the markets on the main city states, you can get gray gear for some coin, is no good no the best but can help you to get to the first leves on all your class, i like to make gear for a new caracter because im a omnicrafter o ask for some one to make some HQ gear for the early levels is cheap and easy for us crafters and you can look on the market boar some times gear can be there too. Just love you having a blast on the BLM hope to se you loved the class like i do too.
Black Mage is definitely challenging, but once you get the hang of it it's very satisfying to play IMO. Even with the changes I don't super duper love with Dawntrail, it's still a fun job.
On the rotation is curse on the early levels but they give us Umbral Soul that make all more easy, you need to Trasnpose alot to go between Fire and Ice, until you get Fire and Blizzard III you now start to use them to change from fire to ice and still castin only Fire I to do damage, Fire III have a looog cast and only is short on 3 Humbra Ice or if you use you proc Firestarter or Swiftcast skill to maket instan cast, some times you hard cast one to get back on your feet. You get stuck castin Fire I till level 60 get Fire IV and change all your Fire I for Fire IV , you get Blizzard IV on 58 and 3 Umbral Hearts, this one help to extent Fire phase doble the cast but the cach is Fire IV dont restar you Astral Fire timer sooo you need to cast one Fire I or Fire III on proc to restar the timer till you get to low mana, i like to use 500 of mana left to Swiftcast Flare on sigle target, Flare hit hard is bonus on low leves and remember Manafont is a second fire rotation so use to reset all and go ham again. Always use you Ley Lines dont forget them i do that alot on my early days on the class, Umbral Soul you can used if boss go away or you are moving on dugeons or close to lose Astral Fire just Trasnpose to ice and use to restore mana and restar on ice and full mana and 3 Umbral Hearts. Hopes this help a bit on the class my master on BLM is @WeskAlber he help me alot on early days the guides 1 to 100 from each class are amazing for the early levels and new players a like. and he just drop the BLM new one so i recoment to check that one, love and hope this help on some regar see ya.

The buff progs slightly before the Fire casts ends, so if you pay attention, you can use Fire III at once without risk of overwriting in the following Fire cast, this is Fire Starter fishing. Not insanely hard or anything, but annoying as hell.
This is the 'easiest' black mage has ever being, with having 2 instant cast spells during Astral Fire that reset the timer. And Umbral Soul being a level 35 skill (it was 75 I think before?) and 'freezing' (get it?) the timer during Umbral Ice, which is a huge QoL for dungeons and downtime in fights. Also once BLM gets Fire IV at level 60 it's like Goku going form KaioKen to Super Saiyan, it's that big of a jump in power.
To misquote JoCat... "To Black Mage is to Suffer." When you're on a roll you feel like the most powerful rainer of hellfire on the planet, but the rest of the time you are a tiny glass cannon one false step from a horrible death.

So when you're still in umbral ice, fire spell cast times get shortened. Fire 3 which usually takes a very long time to cast, gets reduced to about half a gcd. If you're ever looking for a good spot to weave like swiftcast or leylines or something, that fire 3 cast is a very good spot for it. Fire 4 which you get at higher levels has a cast time that is a little longer than the gcd, so things like swiftcast actually makes you deal more DPS. Same goes for Flare, by the way, making that instant cast is very satisfying. Not sure if you already knew any of this, but it's really cool.

The main problem here, though, is mana cost, Fire 3 take more than triple the cost of Fire 1, this cause Fire 3 spam to burn through mana faster doing only about half the damage Fire 1 Spam do, and make you spend more time in ice phase, contribute to doing less damage overall.
Man Im lowkey sad you didnt pick mch, I LOVE machinist and has been my main since I picked it up (complete polar opposite of Black mage, no movement restrictions and a very very fast paced job (has the 2nd highest actions per minute in the game rn)
@@CaffeinatedDad definitely a good idea since bard and dancer’s damage partially comes from buffing other members of the party while machinist does considerable damage on its own. Makes solo content feel a bit better imo.
The most suffering part of BLM for me is when you're doing mob fights in dungeons and constantly having to restart your cast because the mob you were targeting dies. I end up feeling bad and useless due to so much wasted time lol
BLM is extremely fun as well as challenging, which .. is the main reason for it to be on top of my casters list. If you're looking for an easier time doing DPS, probably BLM is not for you.
You shouldn't be spamming Fire 3 btw, its actually horrible damage per mana cost and cast time. You want to use Fire 3 to reach 3 stacks of Astral Fire and then Spam Fire 1 or Fire 4(post level 60) till you're out of mana. At lower levels fire 3 is only for switching between Ice and Fire or If you have a Firestarter proc for a free fire 3.
I wish they didn't name the spells with numbers just bc of the blizzard 4 and cure 3 spammers I see from time to time because people assume bigger number = better spell

@@filipegrandi Fire 4 is Feuka in German. As far as i know they never used a spell with "-ja" . But maybe you mix it up with the SMT Series. There are infact "-ja" spells like Tarukaja or Sukukaja these are usually Buffs while "-ja" Spells are Partywide.
While I absolutely love the ARR Thaumaturge and Black Mage Questlines, I am also convinced that it is the by far weakest Class in the game for quite a long while. Luckily they just get better and better from there imo

If you carry an ether that restores at least 800 mana, you can put a 5th flare in there at the end.

I wish they didn't name the spells with numbers just bc of the blizzard 4 and cure 3 spammers I see from time to time because people assume bigger number = better spell
@@hoisoynonoeasy solution: Tell everyone to put the Game on German 😂😂 this is propably some leftovers from the old FF Games but in German we never had Fire 1,2,3. We always had Fire, -ra , -ga and -ka as Spellnames. And i think JP also uses this Method. So dunno why its 1,2,3 in English
@@DantoriusD pretty sure it used to be "ja" instead of "ka", but i've only played these in english, dunno if its "ka" in german
@@filipegrandi Fire 4 is Feuka in German. As far as i know they never used a spell with "-ja" . But maybe you mix it up with the SMT Series. There are infact "-ja" spells like Tarukaja or Sukukaja these are usually Buffs while "-ja" Spells are Partywide.

While I absolutely love the ARR Thaumaturge and Black Mage Questlines, I am also convinced that it is the by far weakest Class in the game for quite a long while. Luckily they just get better and better from there imo

to do MSQ on BLM is not even challenging, it's just suffering and annoying. Worst class hands down to do msq on.
