Imagine going back 30 or 40 years with something like this...people's minds would be absolutely blown. We kind of take the whole "amp, cab, effects, everything in one box" thing for granted now but it really is pretty damn amazing if you think about it. Moore's law at its finest!!
This is how to demo a product. Excellent. I had a Headrush Gigboard for a while but moved it on because I wanted to build a traditional pedalboard. This is tempting though, having their looping tech plus all the vocal processing in there too, it's pretty comprehensive. And the guys did a great job in Lee's absence.
@@ElizeMusicChannelgreat job with this. Did you really feel the harmony sounded good and tracked clean? I’ve read mixed reviews on the vocal harmony but you made it sound incredible. Did you have any complaints about the harmony?
Wow, great demo and product. And Nate and Elize are really skillful musicians. Was a pleasure listening to them, and a nice change in style on this channel.
Great video! I think Nate and Elize were great guests to bring on, they knew their stuff and the demo sounded amazing. I want that Toxic cover on Spotify. Love HeadRush's stuff, I have a Prime and it's killer. Core seems like a neat desktop-version of that, much like the Gigboard was to the Pedalboard - fewer buttons, no expression pedal built in, but much easier to fit on a desk and with pretty much the same internals. As an added bonus, unlike Pedalboard-to-Gigboard, the amount of connections seems to be the same as on the Prime as well - including the all-important XLR outs. So that right there is a reason to upgrade from a Gigboard.
Superb idea to bring in working artists to demo and live run through the features of a product like this Headrush Core. This aspect needs to be explored much more on Andertons. Don't just show us the new stuff and basic run through of features. Everyone does that. Supplement that with musicians live building a set of tones and effects. Show the practical application of crazy capable devices like this Core.
I just got one (from Andersons - great delivery!) after watching this review. I'm not connected to Andersons or Headrush, I'm totally impartial but I've got to say it's great. I've never been a Headrush fan and I love my pedals but I had to get something compact and easy to transport. This thing is a marvel and it takes my backing vocals a dream. As a player who needs all the help I can get I've got to say that I'll be using it even when I don't need to. Nice job!
I wish i would have had equipment like that growing up. I was always in and out of bands as a kid but stuff like this would have for sure motivated us all to stick it out. It just makes it more simple and enjoyable
I front a power trio playing guitar and singing; this is a massively helpful product for such role - all in one value proposition. Enjoyed so much one the best videos from Andertons in a while, great product demo , full of musicianship. Kudos to Lee, Nate, Elize and team!
Only issue I see is that apparently BOTH xlr outs have to be set for guitar or vocals, or both. The manual does not show a way to use the right xlr for guitar, and the left for vocals, for instance. This seems like an obvious omission to me to me.
I front a 3 piece too, and the main drawback with the vocal section is Headrush give you 14 effect/amp blocks total, if you want to use guitar and vocals they split it 7 each.. you probably won't need 7 effect blocks on the vocals, and you will want more on guitar, a 10/4 or 11/3 split would be much more usable in a live scenario. I have chosen to stay with the original pedalboard and an external vocal processor for that reason.
I love how Headrush doesn't cheap out on the DSP on their smaller/cheaper products. You can run the same exact patch on their bigger boards and their small MX-5!
I am late to the party here, but this was an awesome demo. It was cool seeing the musicians put it to the test in a realistic situation, not to mention seeing them perform on the spot. I would watch every Andertons review if they were like this 😁
I've been searching and searching for my next pedal to buy. I think I'm in love. It's got all I need. Vocoder, that 4 part harmony is epic, it has a Jacob Collier vibe, I love it. Guitar tones, profiling can't say enough. Wow just wow.❤❤
I got this pedal a few weeks ago, and got the expression pedal yesterday. I have so much to learn about how versatile this pedal is. I've used the bass presets at my gigs so far, and played around with the guitar presets at home, but I need to really dig into this thing!
Awesome video and demo, and awesome performances from the guest artists.... I think I'm finally getting around to picking up an MX5 , but these look realy awesome! The ability to do all of the vocals with effects, and to have both guitar input and vocals go into the looper ... I could see this being really awesome for a duo or solo singer/musician. The larger Prime board with more switches definitely makes more sense for live performance. Maybe some day this MX5 will lead to one of the people in my house ending up needing something like this or the Prime
It’s table top in the studio and then once all worked out for the gig it goes to the feet. So versatile. I’ll take that over the massive Prime version. Then just add a separate pedal.
darnit, I was set on getting the Quad Cortex, had discounted the Headrush Prime because of the sheer size just for home use, but now seeing this I am back into decision mode again, would love to see a shootout on this with the QC on stock amps and cabinets being close to the originals, I don't have amps to model so rely on others providing the goods.
My problem with all of these all in one pedals is you really need to have them on a desk. The ability to use a kemper or Fractal with a PC saves my back. I've played with the Prime and original pedal board. Touchscreen interface is quite easy to use. But for the hours and hours of tweaking you get into with these, a pc or tablet connection is almost required.
I think I want one of these as I really need a modeler/multi fx for a band I recently joined. But I still have ptsd from trying to use a Helix LT i just never got any good sound out of the thing. What appeals to me is how straight forward the interface looks to use
Is the vocal setting for the key fixed (In the example shown Key C)? I know it from the Boss VE500 so that you can set it to "Auto" and then the guitar tone is the basis for the voice key adjustment performs!? Is that also possible with the Antares Auto Tune?
Great demo as always. A compact multi effect for guitar AND vocals is exactly what I've been looking for.. and now there's finally one ! One question though: Is it possible to put guitar effects and even amps in a vocal fx line ???
Revalver is an amp sim developed by Peavey. I've used it for about 10 years. It has a nice variety of gear including all the great Peavey amps. The product was sold to another company and there hasn't been any development for some time. I have no idea what's going on with the software. So, maybe Headrush have bought Revalver.
Hey! Great demo, but I didn't get if the vocal harmonizer needs to be programmed or if it can pick the key by reading the guitar chords. And is the Core suitable for acoustic guitar? Thank you!
I really want one of these units to be controlled off a phone or tablet app that syncs with the pedal. When the unit is on the floor, it's not the easiest or most comfortable thing to get down and start adjusting settings etc. especially when you've only got a relatively small touch screen. It surprises that this somehow isn't available already, given it seems like such a basic piece of software.
this is interesting , however could you explain how to switch on and off " pedals both vocoals and guitar whilst playing a track in the background as a duet ? Ie chorus changes / dry wet on both guitar and vox .. this is a game changer for the likes of me if possible as i'm sure it would be for backing tracks ect
Woah! What a beautiful voice Elize have... and I would've bought this Core-board hasen't it been for the fact that I am saving for another thing atm. -But maybe down the road :) -tnx for the video however! - Regards from Norway. 😀☀
It it possible to use it as a looper in live setting to play whole song such that I can kick in intro, verse, chorus, bridge, outrow etc whenever needed?
Yes, there is a handsfree mode that will allow you to change patches and tweak parameters of individual patches. Basically the handsfree mode allows you to edit or play while standing up but with something like this, it's easier to build or edit rigs with it on a desk or chair while seated because you'll be able to use the knobs.
@@AndrewJacobowitz I'm only talking about changes patches with your foot while playing live at a gig cause that's what's the main purpose of this device is. (editing is of course already done before) I mean, can I assign for example clean signal/ distortion on/off on button 1 for guitar, clean signal/ delay on/off for guitar on button 2, clean vocals/autotune on/off on button 3, clean/whatever effect on/off on button 4 for vocals etc..
