- The Bible has some pretty grand and amazing stories: a great flood, a talking donkey, people rising from the dead… It all sounds a bit fantastical, doesn’t it? But does that mean the Bible is a fairy tale?

Not strictly a fairy tale of course, but it clearly has a number of characteristics that are the same as fairy tales.
Exactly! Which is why some people seem to confuse the Bible with a fairy tale or myth. God has some some pretty amazing things!
@@412teens Thanks for your reply. I realise my comment was very vague, and could easily be misinterpreted, so I apologise for that. I will now clarify my view, and then you can choose whether or not you wish to engage with me in dialogue.
I agree with the scholarly concensus that the Bible is a human book, containing both factually correct information as well as plenty of errors (scientific, geographical, historical). No credible historian on the planet holds the view that the Bible contains exclusively accurate history, including many historians who identify Christians. It is simply impossible for any informed, intellectually honest person to claim the Bible is entirely accurate when that is demonstrably not the case.

@@412teens I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to push back on the "respectfully disagree" option. Because it is true that no credible historian (which includes many CHRISTIAN historians) accepts the claim that the bible is entirely accurate historically, then your starting point should be to acknowledge that fact. Specifically, you should find out WHY professional historians hold this view, WHAT specific claims in the bible are considered to be inaccurate and WHY. I realise it would take time and effort to educate yourself on these topics, but if you as a Christian claim to value the truth, then you need to at least know is true. Simply dismissing or ignoring inconvenient facts is much easier of course, but that choice is (in my opinion at least) incompatible with intellectual honesty.
