15:40 Ah yes, the good ole Rage accuracy glitch
When a Pokémon uses Rage and misses due to failing an evasion/accuracy check (not from the 1/256 glitch), the move's accuracy gets inverted, and from then on it will only hit 1/256th of the times.
Because clearly Rage needed to be made even worse.

Fun fact: you CAN catch Raichu in Red/Blue! A very rare encounter in the power plant, but people have probably told you that already.
Raichu is also available in Cerulean Cave, but obviously postgame.

Did some people really try to tell you that there are no dual types in Gen 1? Bulbasaur is grass/poison! Literally pokemon #001 is a dual type!

Fun fact: There is hardly any pure flying types, Pokemon like Pidgey and Taillow are normal flying type, there's technically only *3* pure flying types, Tornadus, Arceus with the flying plate, and Silvally with the flying memory

That's not actually what's happening.
The "Super Effective!" message text is actually bugged. It SAYS "Super Effective" because of the Flying Type, but Fire DOES resist it, so the damage in Neutral and is still calculated correctly. Only the message text is bugged.

The Exp. All was actually pretty good in gen 1 because of (surprise) a glitch
It gave the Pokémon battling the Exp it earned, and then split up a copy of that amount among everyone, including the battler, so your battler actually gains more than it would otherwise, and then everyone else gets some too.
It also deleted some exp from existence if you switch pokemon while the enemy trainer has one out, which is not good

Even this game works for that. It kinda sucks at the beginning because you only have bulbasaur and Magikarp (the only good way to do it) but then Celadon city changes everything with eevee and the pokemon you can buy from game corner

critical hits do not occur 4x as often in gen 1 than in later gens and it most definitely is NOT a programming error. critical hits are determined using the following formula: base speed * 100 / 512.
so looking at that, lets plug some numbers in for mr. mime who has a base speed stat of 90.
90 * 100 / 512
9000/512
17.578125
17.58%
meanwhile there are slow pokemon like snorlax that have a speed stat so low (his is base 30), that their critical hit chance is actually lower than the 6.25% that is in later gens
30 * 100 / 512
3000 / 512
5.859375
5.86%
the only pokemon that achieve that ~4x higher crit ratio that you mentioned are pokemon with a base speed of 130 (25.39%), which is Aerodactyl, Jolteon, and Mewtwo. Electrode takes it a bit further with his crit ratio of 27.34% (base 140 speed)
Also if a high critical hit ratio move is used, like slash or razor leaf, then the following formula is used: base speed * 100 / 64. This means that any pokemon with a base speed of 64 or higher (the closest would be machamp's speed tier of 65 as there are no pokemon with a base speed of 64) have a 255/256 chance of critically hitting (for the same reason that 100 accuracy moves only have a 255/256 chance of hitting).

@@vicentekiekebusch3392 idk what he meant, but it most definitely is not the average. it just seems like mis-information. there are only 4 out of all 151 pokemon that actually hit that ~4x critical hit ratio. 6 if you think that the base 120 speed tier's crit chance of 23.44% is close enough.
btw, i did the math. the average speed between all 151 pokemon in gen 1 is 68.37, which is an average critical hit chance of 13.35% or only 2.13x higher than other pokemon generations on average. if you read my comment and realized that mr. mime is actually one of the faster pokemon in the game (or googled the gen 1 crit mechanics and googled the base speed of all pokemon in gen 1) you would've known immediately that it isnt the average

@@juanxtr3711 thats not accurate. if you look at how crits are calculated, high crit ratio moves are actually 8x more likely to happen. 512 / 64 = 8. if it was only 4x more likely, machamp would not have a 255/256 chance of critting with a high crit ratio move, as his base crit chance is only ~12.7%. 12.7 * 4 = 50.8

well isn't goint to be the hardest challenge since Gen 5 has some of the strongest bug mons in the entire franchise
A much more difficult challenge would be beating gen 2 specifically with only grass types. The gen 2 remakes have more TM's which means more moveset potential.

A note about the Bug attacks you showed for this game: Leech Life was only 20 power back then so it was basically useless. But if you wanted to win based on type matchup, your best option against Psychic in gen 1 was Jolteon because it learned Pin Missile, the best Bug move at that point.
15:45 Not really surprising that Charizard missed so many times. In Gen 1, when you are in the middle of using Rage and you miss, then Rage's accuracy drops to an absurdly low amount, something like 0.4%. Since you used Sand-Attack on it, it was bound to miss eventually and have it's accuracy drop even more.
Just another reason why Rage is so bad in Gen 1.

One Smeargle (other Pokemon are fine for HM's)
Cannot replace any sketched move (can reset to get the move you want initially, but can't replace a sketched tackle with sketched blizzard later in the run for example).
Sketches can be saved as long as you want by wasting its 1 PP sketching a move you already know (which will fail).

@@RiddleOfLightning I mean, if we're nitpicking here I'll join in and say that Cerulean cave isn't really a place for wild pokemon. The place is basically under quarantine and pokemon that roam there are about as wild as dollar store chinchilla's.
In Blue only, you can run into Wild Raichus there.

Man, I love the gen 1 Charizard sprite. Never saw it back then, because I never picked Bulbasaur as a child. x)
Maybe I'm a little late but there actually is an ace-trainer with a charizard in Kanto Victory Road in RB and the remakes. But it's not a mandatory fight if I remember right. So picking Squirtle as the starter is the only option to end up with nearly all 150 Pokémon seen at least (150 caught is impossible without trading anyway) in the Dex since there are no trainers with Blastoise or Venusaur except you or Blue depending on your starter choice as far as I know. The only other Pokemon that are impossible to see ingame without actually optaining them are Golem, the fossil you don't pick, the two eevee evolutions you don't pick and Pinsir/Scyther and Magmar/Electabuzz depending on your game version.
But gen 1 had definitely some really nice sprites. All 3 starter sprites looked really cool in my eyes. Even Blastoise. Also Mewtwos Gen 1 sprite was the best one it ever had. Other noteable examples for me where the whole Gengar evolution line, Zapdos, Gyarados, Alakazam, Nidoking, Machamp, Arbok or Muk.

Honestly I think this would have been much better in Fire Red or Leaf Green. You'd still get all the same trades and whatnot, but the amount of fights you just skated through because gen 1 is buggy, broken and shit is insane. Doing it in a game where the AI isn't quite so broken would have been a much better watch.

I'd love to see more of these trade challenges. I've tried them before, and they're actually fun and unique. Most of the other challenges are solved by the problem of just overleveling whatever you have on your team. Doing mono type teams on PokeMMO is a fun challenge as well since you have level caps based on where you are in the game as well.
If you do future multi-pokemon challenges (which I think is a great idea, by the way!), you should include the modifier of no switching to add to the challenge and mimic the limitations on the NPC trainers.

4:44, this has actually been happening in the later generations. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, you can end up with two Tsareenas by In-Game Trade. In Sword and Shield, there are two In-Game Trades for Kantonian Mr. Mime, one on the Isle of Armor, and one in Spikemuth.

You can get the roms in lots of webstites lol and he doesnt use randomize....
I use romsmode to download all of my roms (original roms) and i use pokkessaves for hackroms

Hey, I found this channel recently. The first video I watched was your run through Emerald without healing at Poke Centers. That was such an epic challenge. I thought of another challenge. It will be called "Impossible NUZLOCKE Challenge!" You can't heal at Poke Centers or use glitches or exploits. You can't white out. Furthermore, if your Pokemon faints, that means they are dead.
