Best way to use archers: give Canopus a bow lol (I'm always talking about this guy). The man was using a shotbow up to chapter 3 doing insane damage. No for real archers feel pretty good. They do their job well without being insanely OP like in the original game.
They do, and yeah, it's great to see basic weapons lasting way longer. Currently I'm blazing through Coda 2 using Scorpions on my spear guys like it's just normal 🤣

Yeah I read some of the negative reviews and it seems like people are jumping into the game and expecting it to play like FFT where you can just blast through any scenario with almost any build within reason. Tactics in a tactical rpg? Whaaat?
Do you have any advice on the fight in Xeod Moors there a lot of opportunities in this fight to get a griffin, a dragoon and it's mostly a water base map and I been having a hard time getting past it
There's a lot of fights in Xeod Moors, but I'd say your easiest answer is, oddly enough, homicide. If you kill the dragoon (if this is the one I think it is), you can get 3 of their classmarks, while Phorampa Wildwood should open up as soon as you read the Warren Report entry for it, which spawns low loyalty griffins in bulk on the very first map, it's far easier to get there.
This is all well and good, but once level 2 area spells and spell range +2-5 and engulf, casters are better damage and status applicators, and they can do it well ignoring elevations.
Different approaches, but not better. Casters can't guarantee, they can be resisted, even at max hit odds. Archers have two ways to guarantee the debuff gets applied, and can later also damage with debuffs through walls and height. I'm not saying either is directly better, but they both have that on hand. Damage wise, archers can quadruple whatever their normal hit is by chapter 4. They're basically the same ideas, but in reverse. Right unit for the right situation, but they're a lot better than they first seem. Like...I still have my good ol reliable poison casters and such for general purpose use, but when I want specific things done, the feather heads are very reliable.
@@CoffeePotato I've been experimenting with archer ninja combo. It's been interesting. Using archer for guaranteed pit knock offs is fun. My charmed out Cressida never misses a charm / poison and I don't abuse chariot other than when recruiting units.
Hello My friend I got a question for you, light Spoiler ahead. I'm stuck on the fight with the two twin lodissian knight in the castle Phidoch. Their set up deal way too much damage to me and I need a new unit build for that part of the game (is it mid or late game?). I'm looking at your build on this video and it's doesn't feel like my style. Do you happen to know a couple of build that would be great for this battle and feel a less gimmicky. I miss the old GBA title with my Alphonse who dealt crazy amount of damage with snapdragon weapon and molten weapon on top of being untouchable.
picked up some skill trigger cards with my white knights and hoped to trigger their auras when resurrecting them. that felt pretty great. reminded me of deaths door in darkest dungeon. think i brought a beast tamer who could toss %heal pots, mostly intended to recruit the dragon but i didn't manage that in the end, poison blow darts probably helped a bit as well, probably brought arycelle as well. had some issues with enemies ranged units jumped on top of some high pillars which made it hard to deal with. something that could deal with mages and clerics would probably be great.
I try to diversify my weapons as much as possible, but have been running with a hawkman longbow archer and Arycelle as a ninja trick archer (like your ninja in this video). It's funny because once you hit Ch2 and crafting is unlocked, you gain access to stun and breach on so many weapons that it's kinda unfair. Meanwhile, the discussion board on Steam is full of people who keep running like 3+ berzerkers complaining about how "OP" the cards are. Like yeah, the scaling damage on cards is going to be a problem when you're running high risk, high reward melee units like berzerkers. Doesn't mean the card system is broken...
The card system is still broken nonetheless, using this example to claim it isn't is wrong ^^ It's a flat +50% damage to whatever your unit's dealing for the Magic and Physical cards, way too much. I would have nerfed it to +10%, and it would have been a huge boost for the remaining of the encounter. I also diversify my weapons as much as possible (not running the same weapon twice) as well as playing only one archetype of each class, and i agree the moment you unlock the +1 weapon with all the debuffs with them is the turning point where the game becomes slowly easier =) ! Can't wait for Reborn to be moddable to fix some stuff in a better way One Vision did ! Allowing us to choose which overhaul we want to add will definitely made it the best version ever !
@@Rathalos23 Eh, I still think the damage on cards being OP is debatable. If an enemy is 1-shotting you after picking up 2 cards, they were doing 50% of your hp before any cards, which is more a problem of stats than of the cards. For example, I was in a battle before where with 2 cards, the boss was able to do 80% of my ninja's hp in 1 hit, but did like 8% to the knight the next turn. The problem there wasn't that the damage was OP, it was that my ninja was out of position and got punished for it.
@@CoffeePotato We still needing to make an undead unit to do it or a regular unit going to do just fine? Got a couple units in mind to transform, just want to make sure before I invest
I have a question. I am fighting leonar and he using rending gale or whatever and the number it shows is 347. I have 1200 hp and it takes like 750 or so off. How is it displaying 347 but actually taking off 700+? I dont understand what im missing here. Hes two shotting my max level denam guy. Its a little buggered because up until this fight i have been rather overpowered.
It's a multi-hit move, he's just cutting twice. If he's hitting that hard, it's also possible he has an elemental advantage. Store has Brands of the sacrifice that take 20% off of the attacker's scaling, and Basins of Time to do the same defensively.
Random question : is it normal to be chasing the level cap in late Ch III and early IV but still being ground into the dirt by the story and Nybeth fights?
Yup, it's the game saying "please learn my mechanics, I have a lot of them, we worked really hard on this". But no, levels mean very little past the very early game. You want to be shutting down units before they act, anticipating then denying damage dealers, and applying debuffs liberally. If a fight ever feels impossible, there's something being missed, in other words.
All those units feel so useless when you come for a2 where everyone is a terminator. You videos helped to make the units feel more useable. Showing me the breach + fear combo with strengthened archers really helped. But I feel like going for the highest damage 2handed bows for my archers is the best way for them to make progress.
The trick is to see past damage as the goal. They excel at delaying, denying, exploiting, and harassing. Their strength is in the hit that didn't happen because they took a piece off the board more often than the crazy scaling shot that did.
@@CoffeePotato If I want a cc unit I would go for a blowgun ninja with stun+silencebringer and eagle eye support and not a "skirmisher". The game really rewards units that are highly specialized. I just dont see the point for running a unit that does 50-150 damage a round, sometimes drops a stun or a knockback and mostly does very little progress. A ninja that can drop 4 debuffs or a full damage archer will have more impactful turns than a unit that tries to do a lot of different things at once (crossbow knight/terrorknight/skirmisher). Also death is the best cc.
@@CoffeePotato It obviously works for you. I just want to exchange ideas on how to make the best out of your units. So I wanted to know why you like them.

@@KLOTEROLEROTAR About there. After the northern push, read about the forts being attacked. Then go and clear out the forts. Then read about the Apocrypha. Okay I recruited her xD thanks I waited all the way from 30 minutes ago from now for the answer I'm a patient man. PALACE OF THE DEAD IS WICKED HARD. For me right now I'm only 32 x.x
25 hours into this game, overall a great game. However, the level cap is such a bad design. I get it why they want avoid having your party overlevel and stomp through the battles. But I've had so many battle where I already hit the level cap thus not getting rewards. Sometimes I had to run through 3-5 battles before the cap is raised again, so for those 3-5 battles I feel no progression. Needeless to say, progression is a pretty important aspect of a RPG. Hopefully they come up with some fix to bypass this badly designed mechanic.
I think you may be assuming some things here. I've consistently been able to early level rush with no issues, what rewards do you think you're not getting? If you're following a PSP guide, some drops opened at 30 on that version, but they're fixed this time. Aka in the PSP version, crafting books were from specific units that only sometimes spawned and only could drop them if currently using the high level drop table, triggered at different levels for each area. This time, it's all just on the boss of the area and randomly, if frequently, from Palace of the Dead instead. I think you're misreading something and attributing it to levels. It happens, it's a complicated game like that, this happens with every mechanic every day, but it's not the levels.
I would argue being able to progress the story is rewarding enough. But if you feel unrewarded, try bringing another character along. I have about 18 characters in total that I use. And switch out between, depending on the map layout and enemy comp. Try recruiting a lizard or 2, some more mages, a lizard. They also make good replacements if someone dies.
@@CoffeePotato By reward, I am talking about looking at tens of thousands of experience goes to waste. It's nothing gaming breaking, but the feeling of seeing your hard earned experience does nothing is not great to say the least.

Depends on the task you're asking of them. They can reliably do many tasks others can't, and can do them safely. It's all situational, there's no "5 times the effort" when the task varies in it's situation every few seconds.

I'm trying but I suck at this game lol but made it to chapter 4... could you do a tower stage tutorial? I.e where you're at a major disadvantage and the boss is surrounded by healers haha
Can do, this somehow won the vote, but any particular ones giving you trouble that you'd like to see?
@@CoffeePotato the 3n battle where you can save Cerya (she died on my run), notoriously difficult battle apparently...
Hello My friend I got a question for you,
light Spoiler ahead.
If it's the one I'm thinking of, I'm making a video on that soon.
People definitely see what they want to see a lot of the time 🤷
The card system is still broken nonetheless, using this example to claim it isn't is wrong ^^
It's a flat +50% damage to whatever your unit's dealing for the Magic and Physical cards, way too much.
Not sure if you went over it at some point, but is unlocking Divine Knight the same this go around as it was in the PSP version?
It's easier, the Rood just transforms them anywhere.
@@CoffeePotato We still needing to make an undead unit to do it or a regular unit going to do just fine? Got a couple units in mind to transform, just want to make sure before I invest
@@Felrika I think they just transform now, I'm not sure, haven't gotten to testing it yet.
mans out here defending archers like his life depends on it.
I just like my feather hat buddies 😂
I have a question. I am fighting leonar and he using rending gale or whatever and the number it shows is 347. I have 1200 hp and it takes like 750 or so off. How is it displaying 347 but actually taking off 700+? I dont understand what im missing here. Hes two shotting my max level denam guy. Its a little buggered because up until this fight i have been rather overpowered.
rending gale attacks twice. With most classes you can't facetank him, you have to play with speed and kite him accordingly.
@@shdzin o no wonder. It wasnt showing the second number.
It's a multi-hit move, he's just cutting twice. If he's hitting that hard, it's also possible he has an elemental advantage. Store has Brands of the sacrifice that take 20% off of the attacker's scaling, and Basins of Time to do the same defensively.
sir i want ask ? is this version can be finish using just one man , like the psp version , i kindda bored to finish it again normal way
It can. It's the same system, just better handled.
interesting! How did you change Denam's name though ... ? I thought it was set in Reborn.
Nope, you can change it once you beat the game.
@@CoffeePotato Can you also rename any other unit? I want to rename one of my winged.
I just have Sherri charm the enemy healers or big hitters. Easy stuff.
Yup, there's a million ways to do it. I just wanted to show that they're perfectly capable of carrying themselves.
@@CoffeePotato Yeah, love this game. Also, what's with the crystal dragon? Can it be recruited?
Interestingly enough an arrow has far more focused power to rip through armor than swords.
Dragon slayer only works on melee attacks right?
Slayer works on anything, that was a miss on someone's part. Bane is melee only. Ninja buffs also apply to anything.
Off topic because I can’t find the info anywhere, where can you find enchideons ? Please I looked on Google forever
Palace of the Dead, ballpark Floor 11-30, they just drop at random everywhere. See post game video a few days ago.
@@CoffeePotato last question so none drop from the woods or pirate dungeon
@@georgebrown2459 So far as I'm aware
@@CoffeePotato thank you sir love the vids I appreciate you responding quickly
@@randoomingnope7574 Then do that. I like the dagger finishers due to how consistent archers are with them. Especially the second one.
@@CoffeePotato It obviously works for you. I just want to exchange ideas on how to make the best out of your units. So I wanted to know why you like them.
@@randoomingnope7574 They're just fun to play with. Good range, consistent, and good tools on hand.
Superb 🙏🏾
I didn't know my boy Hektor got a model update, generic no more I guess
Yup, dude became all regal.
Wait you renamed Denam? That's an option in this one?
Yeah, it unlocks once you beat the game once.
question not really relevant to this video but I figure you're the best person to ask"
what happens in the event you save Catiua but when given the option to let her join the party you refuse to recruit her? does the game treat her as dead for story purposes?
She refuses to leave at that point.
@@CoffeePotato really, so you can't pick no even when you're given the option?
What's the best method to farm stat charms?
Elemental Temples
@@CoffeePotato When do I unlock elemental temples? I'm currently at the part of the game where the level cap is 32
@@KLOTEROLEROTAR About there. After the northern push, read about the forts being attacked. Then go and clear out the forts. Then read about the Apocrypha. Then go visit the left center castle to talk to Mreuvra. He will ask if you're a bad enough dude for some elemental nukes. Say it's fine, and he will open up the temples where the forts were, as long as one of his daughters is still alive. Usually you'll at least have Olivia by this point.
@@CoffeePotato thanks for the tip. also I just got tier 3 finishing moves and their power is night and day compared to tier 2. I had trouble dealing with enemies around the 2k health threshold, but tier 3 moves melt them.
@@CoffeePotato btw if I wanna make an absolute chad archer, what should I train them as? I assume different classes get different stat growths
and we are going to go ahead to go ahead and stop listing to you keep saying we are going to go ahead.
No, first you need to go ahead, but before the ahead end after the unbefore therefore maybe sometimes occasionally.
how to check weapon effect?
with the weapon in hands, in shop or craft tab, select the weapon and then switch tabs (there are many info tabs) until you find it. In PC it's ctrl + d
Dunno if anyone's in chapter 4 already xD but I forget which choices to recruit her princess kat.
Those choices depend on other choices. If she doesn't show up at the fight, you didn't leave her.
Okay I recruited her xD thanks I waited all the way from 30 minutes ago from now for the answer I'm a patient man. PALACE OF THE DEAD IS WICKED HARD. For me right now I'm only 32 x.x
Would have been more fun with a beast tamer ans his blowgun 😂
Very true, but I wanted to show off the ones folks usually complain about.
Yooo
Aren't all those Basin of Time a waste on such a low level battle?
Look for the latest cheat table on the fearless site. With that you can change the lvl cap, remove buff cards altogether and do other good stuff.
Its a mock trial. Since you will fight enemy with 20+ later in optional dungeon.
@@CoffeePotato By reward, I am talking about looking at tens of thousands of experience goes to waste. It's nothing gaming breaking, but the feeling of seeing your hard earned experience does nothing is not great to say the least.
Archer needed a nerf from psp ver but this is ridiculous. They need 5 times the effort to perform less than average. they are probably one of the weakest class in the game.
Depends on the task you're asking of them. They can reliably do many tasks others can't, and can do them safely. It's all situational, there's no "5 times the effort" when the task varies in it's situation every few seconds.
Thanks for the video. Love all your tips, specially zweinander +1 @Tk
