- Today I am testing out some DIY Homemade Natural Cleaners that you can make at home against chemical cleaning products. Some natural products worked really well and one didn't work at all :-( I hope you enjoy this video. Thank you so much as always for watching x
Most of the products used in the recipes were from my local supermarket and Holland and Barrett.

Cleaning supplies: Bleach, washing up liquid, soap= ❌
Cleaning supplies: Lemon, essential oils, vinegar, warm water, cream of tartar, baking powder= ✅
You can get natural soap and it's been used for thousands of years and is super effective, biodegradable, and harmless so soap should be used at least the natural soap as it is the same as the chemicals loaded stuff.
Hey Emily, just want to say you are an amazing mom, I am a mom myself and do everyday my best to be like you!!!!! So thank you so much for the amazing videos. Lots of love from New Zealand.🤗
Aww that's so sweet, thanks so much for watching! :) xx
Vinegar plus baking soda is more or less fizzy salt* water.
*It's actually carbon dioxide-which is the volcano bit-and sodium acetate, which is apparently sometimes used to make salt and vinegar chips.
Interesting! Thanks so much for watching :)
Thank you for sharing this!! ❤️ always on the lookout for natural cleaning products 🙌🏼
I love that you did natural cleaning products! I use white vinegar as a fabric softener. It works well, deodorises an actually helps against limestone in your machine. Vinegar also helps against limestone in de shower. Hope it helps!
Thanks for a great video. For cleaning glass you need nothing but 2 microfiber rags, a wet one which you use first and then wipe the window (or any other glass surface) with a dry one. Thats all. Something about the way the microfiber cloths are made cleans everything, just like the magic eraser on the wall.
As always, I love you videos. Take care.
Great tip, thanks so much for watching! xx
Seconded, just water will do the same thing as long as you use the cloth
So handy Emily! Thanks a bunch for helping us again with a more sensible option to get good results at or home cleaning 🤗🤗👍👍💕 Bless you🙌
Aww thank you! xx
Thank you so much for this amazing video. I love natural cleaning products so this was very informative and inspiring at the same time. I admire you a lot for your passion and enthusiasm! I have found in you a role model when it comes to parenting and taking care of your family. I am a first time mom of a 15 month old and have been watching you since I was pregnant. Lots of love from New York!
Great video Emily! I have started using vinegar a few months ago and I am sooo happy with the results! My recipe is very simple: just equal parts of white vinegar and water. I have also found a recipe for a cleaning paste you can store. It consists of baking soda with a little bit of dishsoap and some drops of essential oil, mixed together until they become a thick paste. You can scrub the bathroom with it, although I don't think that it disinfects.
Yay! I’m SO glad you are giving this a try...we swapped so much over and Im so glad to be free of harsh chemicals that really aren’t necessary and are expensive.
We use vinegar and baking soda for everything. We also have a wonderful stream cleaner for the rest. We use bleach if it’s truly necessarily.
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this video. ❤️😊 I love making my own cleaners and laundry detergent. A UA-camr by the name of Clutterbug has 2 recipes for laundry detergent and fabric softener. And they actually really do work. Thank you I love your videos!
I've been looking for natural cleaning products so thank you for all the recommendations!
Thank you so much for watching xx
I love your cleaning videos. So many times i just play them while cleaning, and it's such a great company :) I loved the multi-use, I will definitely give it a try. Thanks for sharing 💙
Wow this vid is def one of my favorites! Too bad about the laundry detergent, but I will make the others, they look amazing !
Definitely need to look at other recipes she did not do it right
Thanks so much, glad you liked it! :) I do think it might be because I substituted the Borax, but I'm not sure whether to try that or not.. the others were great though! xx
@@hellototheworld My daughter is highly sensitive: allergies, eczema, sleeping problems... I don't know if I dare use it (Borax), since it can cause irritated skin eye/digestive/respiratory problems.
@@mrsemilynorris they are, thanks so much! xx
Mona Keulen
Nonsense. It’s safe. You’re not ingesting it!!!
Thank you for a fab video, I’ve made the window cleaner before and love how it works. I’m definitely going to try the surface spray next!
Thank you so much for watching xx
YES EMILY! I want to do this all! Thank you x
Awesome video Emily! Super useful! I’m inspired to make these 👍🏼 Much better for my baby and family 💕
My favorite room spray is easy. I take 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol, then you sent it as heavy or light as you want it. Little tip on this one... Give the bottle a little shake before use to make sure the oils are mixed in. I use 91% rubbing alcohol because that it is also a nice disinfectant 😊 but the alcohol helps the water to evaporated quickly leaving the good smell behind. I will spray on my comforter, drapes and throw pillows and blankets. My favorite fragrance oil is blueberry cobbler 😊
Rubbing alcohol isn't a thing in the UK. You can ask for it in pharmacies or order it on Amazon but it's certainly not common.
You may use vodka instead rubbing alcohol- that's the way I do and it perfectly works.
@@sylwiasadowska1635 . Yes vodka works good as well ❤️
I absolutely love your cleaning videos Emily and I love you and your channel
Thank you so much! :) xx
Loved this and definitely going to make the surface spray and fabric refresher!! Xx
Yay! Hope you like them! The lavender essential oil is honestly such a gorgeous scent! xx
I can’t speak to the detergent, I just buy a natural one. BUT the best stain remover ever is 3 parts hydrogen peroxide to 1 part natural dish soap.
Ooh great tip, thank you! xx
love this!! definitely going to be trying these😍 thank you xx
Thanks so much! xx
My mouth literally dropped open when you put that paint on the wall 😂 lovely video Emily xx
Love this video
You always make something which is useful and informative..
Defo gona try the surface cleaner! Hope you are having a lovely holiday x
We are thanks Bear. Let me know how you get on. Thank you so much for watching xx
Excellent video! Thank you for all these amazing tips xx
Omg it's like you read my mind.. I've been looking for these diy recipes and was like wish Emily did some and here we are now!!! :-D
Check out "clean my space".
She is a professional cleaner and has great recepits for cleaning supplies
You can use baking soda and vinegar to clean your bathtub also! We just recently got a new cast iron claw foot tub that is not supposed to have harsh chemicals on it or it will ruin the finish. The company actually suggests using baking soda and vinegar! It works great. Nice video Emily
This video was so useful! I tried the surface spray and love it!
I loved this video Emily! I am constantly testing natural cleaning products, since I feel pretty much the same like you about using so many chemicals around the house.
I am totally going to try that surface spray! I love the look of it!
Thank you for sharing this tips ❤️❤️❤️ I will definitely try this 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
needed this sooo much! thanks!!!😘😘😘
Looooove this one! If you find out any natural detergent for the laundry please keep us update. Happy anniversary week and thanks for your content xx
Great video Emily!!
You look so lovely!! I love that dress! Definitely going to be trying some of these!
Love this! Saved it. I'm also trying to be more mindful of the products I use. I have kids also and I'm sure all the chemicals aren't good for them. 💕 thanks for sharing this
Emily this is an incredible video and I love the concept of replacing chemicals in natural although sometimes it is a serious challenge... so I hope you do more like this in the future 👍 by the way I clean/fix scratches on my car with Paraffin Oil
Aww thank you! Do you really? Will have to try that! x
The national glass cleaner is great! I use it all the time. I would not use the recipe for laundry but I do share one super easy laundry hack in my “laundry routine video” that I think you might like. I definitely need to pick up a couple of magic erasers after watching you demonstrate it on the wall! 😱🙌🏼 Thank you for a great and motivating video as always! Much love from Spain 😘
I love that natural cleaners are becoming much more popular. I made a video earlier this year on natural V chemical oven cleaner and was surprised at how well the natural cleaner did on my dirty oven. I also like the Tesco version of Method cleaning products.
Loved this video x
u have made me love cleaning and ur happpeniess always makes me feel so much better so thank you I love u x
Love this video, the chemicals really bother me so I am always looking for more natural methods! x
Me too, I hope you like some of these ideas! xx
What a wonderful video, Emily! Xxx
I loved the video!! I usually make the surface cleaner by the gallon lol and also use it for my floors. I sometimes change the scent on it to peppermint or lavandería or something more floral with the essential oils
Yes. Love natural alternatives. Also means less plastic bottles are being purchased if you can make it at home and reuse the same bottle over and over again.
I loved this video thank you Emily. I do wonder if we can find an alternative to plastic spray bottles though Would love to see if anyone has any solutions.
Also by putting the bicarb into a spray bottle it'll clog the nozzle. For a room spray base I use vodka or witch hazel xx
Ooh thanks for the tip! xx
@@mrsemilynorris You're welcome xx
Oh! And magic erasers are the coolest! Especially if you have very young children!! They are great for walls, coffee stains in the sink, all kinds of doors! I discover new uses all the time!!
I use mine on my glass shower door to remove soap scum etc and also on grout between tiles
They really are magic aren't they! xx
Love this video! I always wonder if these natural recipes work as well as the regular chemical cleaners. The multipurpose spray seems like a good one to try. :)
I love your channel so much 💖
Just come across this video! Absolutely love it, only weeks ago I was told bleach was a no no for the toilet. Since cleaning with simple antibacterial spray and toilet brush. It’s so much cleaner.
So nice to see you try out DIY cleaners that are better for health and the environment! :) For washing clothes you can try natriumpercarbonat instead of borax. However it'll work from 50degrees up and you'll need a product with activator (TAED) for lower temperatures. I use it to soak whites with for a bit before throwing them in with the light wash. I make my own washing liquid with chestnuts. It's free and works great.
Love that video! I am so into natural products at the moment and have already been using window and surface sprays but also have a problem with natural detergent 😬 it's a difficult one
I use white vinegar for everything lol it works perfectly on everything IMO. Great video! P.S pink is so pretty on you 💕💕
Ah thank you. Thank you so much for watching xx
Loved this defo gna use some of the tips xx
Really liked this video! I use water and vinegar for all my hard surfaces. Even just plain water and a good cloth leaves streak free windows, Windex somehow convinced us we needed a special product for that. I also love vodka and water as a fabric deodorizer; it works amazing and the vodka smell disappears when it dries. A really great bathroom tile cleaner is dish soap, vinegar, and water in a spray bottle; it works amazing. The smell can be overpowering though so I would only use this in a well ventilated bathroom. I agree with another commenter on here that dish soap and hydrogen peroxide is a great stain remover, especially for food and or oil stains.
This is another great video Emily !
I Do use vinegar and baking soda, time to up the game 😀
Thanks so much for watching! Maybe try a couple of these recipes - there are lots more online too, I might have to try out some more myself :) xx
Loved this! Thank you!
Love this babe! Such a good topic and video 😚❤ i am always worried about what i use around the kids and the short and long term risks of harmful chemicals. Love it babe 😘❤ keep up the great work ❤❤❤ from your fellow youtuber 😘
Thank you so much! I know, I worry about chemicals in the house too xx
@@mrsemilynorris you are very welcome babe 😚❤
I saw many ways with the marseille soap, that is natural! For the detergent and other things.. but TOP for clothes.. you should try! And also the scent is so good 😊 very beautiful video and thank you to share healthy products, for us, and for our world! 💪🏻
You would love norwex and splosh, both are zero waste and completely natural x
Great video, thank you for doing it! One thing I cannot quite understand with most “natural” recipes I find...doesn’t vinegar just cancel out the baking soda and turn it into basically salty water?... I don’t understand the concept at all since they would cancel each other out. Is it the actual foaming reaction that cleans while it’s happening or is everyone seriously just cleaning with salt and water?
Love this video!x
I love your content.. keep up the great work
Thanks for this video. A couple of years ago, I tried the homemade laundry detergent with Borax and it did not work. The vinegar based cleaning recipes works for my home.
Love this video! I made a surface spray and used orange rind but still stinks of vinegar! Will give lemon and rosemary a try!
Oh no! Yes maybe try lemon, but also essential oils are much more potent and mask the vinegar scent really well x
Hey Emily I love your videos soo much, I'm not a mum or even near being a mum but I just want you to know that you are one of the best mums ever. I am also new to your channel but I have watched so many of your videos already. Love from Ireland. Xx

Hey Emily, I love all of your helpful tips and hacks so much. That's one of the things I love about your positivity planner. I'm already getting anxiety at the thought of it being the end of the year and not being able to use it anymore!!!!!!! Are you planning on doing another planner for next year? Pleeeeaase say you are. X o x
Love this!!
Awesome video! How long will these cleaners stay good for? In particular the surface spray? Just curious if I’m making a larger batch! Thanks!
Nishie Nish now that is something I don’t know 😬🤔
Ah thank you for replying just the same! Will look into it, thanks again you’re awesome!
Hi! The reason why homemade laundry detergent doesn’t work is because they lack surfactant while store bought does. They help in lifting off the dirt.
Just buy natural detergent rather than trying to make your own.
Hi Emily! Loved this video. Where do you buy your black labels for your diy products?
Fantastic video. Would certainly like more of these. Currently use Ecover products including laundry as they are mostly plant based and Cruelty-Free. X
Thanks so much :) xx
I really love that surface cleaner, i will try it too 👍🏻
Thank you so much for watching Nikoleta xx
So helpful thank you!! Xx
Loooooooooooved this video!!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video, Emily! I was wondering though how long these sprays with the lemon last? When i leave a lemonade outside for a few days the water gets a funny smell and taste. thank you ;)
Great video! The bottle that you made your lemon rosemary cleaner in...is it glass or plastic and where can I find it in that size? I really have only been seeing 8 or 16 oz bottles but yours looks nice and big.
Lovely wholesome content from Emily as always! Great tips for the environment conscious viewer such as myself and things I will be trying now I have just bought my first home. I really enjoy Emily’s videos. One of my favourite UA-cam creators and I never miss a video. Well done Emily ❤️
Love this video!
I can't believe you smeared paint all over the wall, I had a mini panic and it wasn't even my house 🙈
Haha Hannah. Thank you so much for watching xx
Love your videos 😍❤️
This is so inspiring! as a first time mum, I started making my own products also. I’ve been following this channel for a while now and love your channel 😊 I’ve just started my channel I’ll be showing my recipes soon. Hopefully it comes out as good as yours...
Love the lemon cleaner. Gonna try it.
Very helpful, thanks x
I find even with all the chemicals my boys can really ruin some white clothes. The sun does a fab job of bleaching out the stains :)
Lauren Brazier were in the uk.
That's so true! Yes the sun is great for bleaching, we just get so little of it here :( xx
Love the eco content! Would be interested in a video on reducing plastic packaging waste
Great video Emily, shame about the laundry detergent. I love magic erasers. Will try some of these, thank you for sharing. 💖😊
Thank you so much for watching Jo xx

I love this! I've recently started a channel about life and sustainability and I feel like this type of video is so helpful for everyone! Thank you xx
Soda and peroxide (1:1) make wonderful stain remover. It works on both whites and brights. No discoloration. Works best if you leave it for a day or two. Btw I absolutely love your hack with putting stains in the sun, it definitely works if stain is carotene based
Thank you for doing this! I always try to use natural products where possible! :) maybe you could try eco egg washing pellets for the washing? X
Hi! Love your chanel! Great video! Their is a tip, with the toilet cleaner, put the baking soda in a shaker, and the vinegar mix in a spray bottle, and keep it in the bathroom, and when you need to clean, just sprinkle the baking soda, and spray the vinegar mix on to it!
Nonsense. That makes sodium acetate. What good is that? Did you sleep through chemistry class????
Thanx a lot for this video..it's really useful..😊😊
Don't know if you can get in the UK, but I use Molly's Suds for my laundry detergent. I have been loving it! On my 3rd bag of it.
I'd love an update on what eco friendly cleaning products you still use x
Love this ♥️ is there any news on your next year's diary? X
Love your content and rewatching your videos! You look so beautiful in this dress ! Lovely greetings from vienna
Try the window e-cloths, its just the cloth and water and works amazingly!
I’m so glad you have tried it, well done 👏 loved it ❤️❤️❤️ we have swapped to most of the products you used as well as Norwex and loving it.
I wonder if Mrs. Hinch would ever try it, I always think about our little ones breathing in all the chemicals in ☹️ that’s one reason I started changing what we use X
Ahh that's amazing! I'm so happy I tried it xx
I love norwex to x
