*My husband and I own a flooring company*
As much as I want to love the mop mixture (tide, cascade, and fabuloso), it is TERRIBLE for hardwood floors, especially if you dont rinse it well- if there are bubbles/residue, mop again with just water!
Using the mixture can also void warranties on LVP and LVT, as some companies only want you to use Bona cleaning products. Always read the box your floor covering comes in to be sure. Happy cleaning 💙

I used Bona for years and started noticing dullness. I grabbed a mop and bucket with just water and couldn't believe all the cloudy water that came from my floor. Nope I won't use it any more.

That mop mixture is kind of ridiculous, imho. Dishes and clothes have different kids of issues, so the chemicals formulated for them have very different functions than what's needed for a floor. Plus, mixing chemicals is never a great idea in the home "laboratory." where accuracy and consistency are much more difficult to achieve.

My mom has LVP and was told to not use Bona on it when she purchased the home - it was a brand new home never lived in. She already had bona products, but now almost exclusively uses vinegar and water. She’s done a lot of research and has decided to play it safe as much as she can. I’m not saying Bona is bad… but I think it’s unnecessary in most cases, just like most harsh cleaners aren’t necessary most of the time.

The Dawn Powerwash is great for my teens because they actually USE it, lol. But I refill with a copycat formula I modified - 104 oz water, 8 oz dawn, 4 oz alcohol. Mix gently in a gallon jug. Makes a LOT and works almost as well as the original!

I'm not sure how I feel about the recipes that use rubbing alcohol with the water and dish soap. That would be safe enough for counters, cook tops, cleaning grease in the microwave or on the oven door, etc. But isopropyl or rubbing alcohol shouldn't be used on food-bearing surfaces like dishes, utensils, or cookware. According to the experts, even a small amount isn't safe. You could try substituting an equal amount of vinegar or vodka. Or just use the water and regular Dawn dish soap. I'm pretty sure it's the bubbles and the fact that you're leaving the soap on for a while, that actually makes the Powerwash so easy to use.

Yes, and I find it’s great for places where rinsing is harder, like my gas stove cook top or the top of the hood. With the spray, I can just wipe it with a wet cloth as a rinse. The regular dish soap requires multiple passes for rinsing, at least for me.

The Dawn powerwash is refillable with regular dawn dishwashing liquid. I bought a bottle over a year ago and have refilled the same bottle over and over. Works exactly the same. Just make sure you only put a little dawn in the bottom and fill with water but not too full or it won't pump correctly. You can actually find out how to do it on here. It's simple

Dawn dish soap with baking soda makes my oven door sparkle! I appreciate you trying these for us! In defense of Dawn Powerwash, if you lightly spray with water to wet an area and then spray with powerwash the KEY is to let it sit for 5-15 minutes and come back. I love this stuff but I think it is the alcohol content that boosts the power and there are tons of recipes for cost effective versions! If you want TRULY clean floors always add a quarter to a half cup of white vinegar to the mop water along with whichever version you like. We bought the spin mop that you have (fluffy one) and use liquid clothes detergent and white vinegar and it smells like sunshine after mopping!! And my hubby noticed that our old worn out floors actually FEEL cleaner and YES when men notice the mop and cleaner gets an A++, RIGHT?! Thanks again, Cass! XOXO✨✨✨

The test of the two different mops wasn’t a very good test because you didn’t keep them “in their own lane” but went back and forth across each other’s path! I also don’t think looking at the water is a great test. If you compared the two buckets of water before mopping you’d probably see more “stuff”/dirtier looking water in the one with all the chemicals.

Consider switching to the Breeze litter pellet system. I switched a few years ago and never looked back. The start up is fairly expensive, especially now, but I think more economical in the long run. The pellets last for a month before needing changed. Honestly, I have went longer when I couldn't get the pellets when needed. I change out the pads twice a week. There's very little odor as the urine goes into the tray with the pad and the solid materials can be easily scooped. No more heavy litter and scooping wet clumps. I'm older and just can't handle traditional litter anymore. I'm so happy I switched.

All cleaning products require some working time. (sitting on the item for 5-10 minutes in some cases) and then you wipe them off. It also comes down to is the stain made of grease or something else. I find Dawn and baking soda work really well together and if you want something clean and or shiny using scrub daddy and power paste after the dish soap has been wiped off really works great. For cheap sponges, try O-Cedar scrunge multi use scrub sponges! They are less than $1/each when you buy the multipack at Walmart. I saw an America’s Test Kitchen episode where they tested kitchen sponges and the O-Cedar was their pick for long lasting and odor resistance. They also rinsed out the best. They are non-scratch, but clean like the normal scrubbing sponges. I will not go back to the ones I used for over 20 years.

I use power wash for the convenience, but I also refill it with a homemade version using blue dawn and rubbing alcohol. I have issues with scents (even the nice all-natural kinds), so I avoid strong scented products. I’ve noticed strong chemical scents bother me too.
DAWN all the way. I’m trying to use up my method refills so I can use what seems to be my go to cleaner. (Just so you all know, I don’t have precious wood furniture in my home. Or real wood floors.) I use a spray bottle with 12-16 oz. of water and a drop or two of regular Dawn dish soap. I use it EVERYWHERE. For daily “swish and swipe” in bathrooms and daily cleaning in kitchen. I spot mop with it and some generic microfiber or old T-shirt rag on my old swiffer. I dust with a spritz on a cloth, AND I just realized my mirrors and windows are very shiny when I use a microfiber cloth and Dawn-water. I’m not sure how it would work on really dirty windows, like from smoking, but it has degreasing properties so it might work.
I do use a vinegar to clean hard water residue and such. I use baking soda to scrub burned food spots on glass cooktop. Rinse with vinegar. I do have a bleach cleaner I use on the sink when I’ve handled raw chicken, along with disinfectant wipes, etc. I like to use foaming shower cleaner once a month to keep shower tile clean, but thinking about trying the Dawn-water and/or vinegar. A magic eraser works better on our tub basin(?) than soft scrub with bleach, but it’s like a one use application though. Tears up that spongy thing. I like baking soda for carpet refreshing too. I’ve used a little eucalyptus or peppermint oil in my cleaning, but have to do it sparingly.
All that to say I use a lot of Dawn dish soap. Lol 😆

I love to use a combo of dishwashing detergent and vinegar (1/3 detergent with 2/3 vinegar) to clean the shower - gently mix, spray liberally and give a light wipe and let soak for a bit. Then a light scrub and rinse clean - gets the hard water stains off with minimal effort! And only the smell of vinegar.
I also love the “miracle spray” - recipe from lectric washing soda. It has dishwashing detergent, vinegar, water, washing soda and eucalyptus oil (which is optional if you don’t like the smell!).

What a fun video! For floors, counters, oven glass, and especially windows, I love Norwex. Hint: Use the microfiber cloth first on your windows/mirrors. Then simply "polish" with the window cloth to remove any streaks. The window cloth is not meant for cleaning. With no residue on the floors, counters, windows, and mirrors, dust is not attracted to it and you get to clean less often. Bonus, the silver in the majority of their products keeps bacteria from growing on them. No smell or need for washing for at least a week if you rinse well and hang dry.

Norwex is only "popular" because of the MLM structure of sales. On social media when someone asks "What's a good "non-toxic" cleaner, or what's a good cleaner for cleaning xx?" ALL of the sales reps will shout "Norwex!" So they can make a sale to you. Not because they are actually good products. Reps make false claims about not using cleaners because the silver makes them germ resistant, but truly the company says they are silver lined to help the cloth not smell, not so you can wipe raw chicken juice without cleaner and expect your counters to be clean and safe! They are just overpriced microfiber and there are many other brands that are just as good without the MLM prices (because everyone above you gets a cut of that sale). MLM's are predatory and 99% of all sales reps actually LOSE money. It's sad because they prey on mothers and families that need the money the most, and in the end they alienate their friends and family.

Ah I do the pillow tuck too! It's super quick if you lift it up and lean the pillow on your legs as you do it. Pinch the fabric in the middle of the bottom side of the pillowcase, push it down inside (pillow should be resting below this tucked in fabric now). Push both forearms down, then spread them back and forth from the sides and back to the middle. That motion brings the rest of the fabric inwards, and eventually you end up with a really clean, no-wrinkle tuck!
    I hope that made sense!!

#1=Scotch brand green scrubbies. Never sponges. Also, dish soap, baking soda, vinegar. Regular (not microfiber) cotton washcloths (typically cut down from towels). Old toothbrushes. If I'm feeling fancy I use "flavored" vinegar made from white vinegar and citrus peels and herbs (strain before using). I have an old foamer for liquid soap but typically use the dregs of the shampoo with water for refilling it. I grew my own luffah "sponges" last year which you can actually use on pans besides your skin. (but I just use it on skin) Really, not too impressed with all the fancy concoctions, haha. But, whatever makes a person happy while cleaning seems fine to me.

Wow….so on point! Here’s the thing, we did rescue in our neighborhood, spay/neuter and we were lucky to work with a no kill adoption place that helped. They took all the kittens, but not the mommas and daddies. So, we were left with many pets…14 cats at one time but NO CAT HOUSE smelling of cats, EVER! as I made sure to supply enough litters and scooped regularily. People were impressed at how well we kept things, they turned to us for advice. Now,…fast forward 15 years, I’m in middle of divorce of 21 years, (no, it’s a good thing, that’s all I’ll say). When he bailed, again, 1 week before pandemic started we had 10 cats. We lost 5 in one year, my son with Aspergers/autism was crushed. 2 1/2 years later? I asked myself the same questions and had same thoughts. They ARE a lot of work, but were a God send during difficult times AND helped my son out a lot with his needs. Now down to 5, and the only thing they stop us from doing is getting an apartment, (limit is 2 cats). So, we are staying in home, market is terrible to buy anyway and we have learned to not take them for granted and appreciate all the unconditional love and comfort they provide us. My son is better for having them, and loves them, it’s helped with many social issues, learning empathy, compassion, and taught us to be grateful for their snuggles and enthusiasm when we get home when they ALL want our attention. Remember, you can do lots of things to minimize the work, setting up outside contained areas for them to run in, condos, the right litter and products make it so much easier. And the down time we share with them, is priceless! You're not crazy. If I could have another kid, I would, (post menopausal), I’ve thought about adoption, now’s not the best time. Here’s the thing to keep in mind, pets TEACH your children so much, how to care for others, how to think of others needs, etc etc. They provide us with so much…so don’t focus on the work, rather than what comes out of having them, how they enhance your life, force you to slow down and breath while enjoying a good purring cat on your lap, or snug with your dog! utilize products/things to help minimize the work…it’s a win win! Sorry so long!💕

I use dawn dish soap too, but I like the orange scented one. I bought the power wash one. I use it on food that is stuck to a pan. I just spray it and let it set a bit and the food comes off so easy! I would highly recommend it for that particular purpose.

I mop with white vinegar & baking soda; make a paste with baking soda for a scrub solution. I make laundry detergent, general purpose cleaner, etc...

Thank you for doing this I never thought off using Dawn to clean my oven glass. I just always used oven cleaner. But I hate the fumes. Thanks for the tips I'll be trying them.

The very best glass cleaner I’ve ever used is a solution of 1 cup water, 1 cup white vinegar, and 1 tsp corn starch. Spray on and wipe off with a good microfiber cloth (I prefer the Nano Cloth). You have to shake it before each use because the corn starch settles, but it does the most amazing job, especially on exterior glass that’s actually dirty. My glass literally sparkles when I use it!

Hi Cas! I noticed the same thing with the Norwex glass cloth. I told my friend about it and she told me to clean the glass with the regular Norwex cleaning cloth and water and then dry with the glass cloth. OMG.... way better results. And I have 2 dogs that leave nose prints all over my sliding glass door in the kitchen.
I also love my spin mop. I just use a bit of laundry detergent in the water. Floors get so clean! Love all your videos.

A couple of pointers for you....
You had way too much water on your microfiber cloth. If you are dusting with it, you should ring it out to almost dry.
The Scrub Daddy Duster works great for dusting the baseboards.
The point to Dawn Powerwash is that it is thicker and will stay on the item for the dwell time. You spray the item and allow it to sit for a little while before you clean the item.
For the Scrub Daddy sponges they work best if you follow the instructions. If you use cold water they get harder and can scrub harder things. If you use warm water they are more pliable. This is part of the reason they are more expensive.

I mix a 16 oz bottle of 3% peroxide and a1/4 cup of dawn in a spray bottle for general cleaning. For extra tough jobs, I use the same solution but add 3-6 is of totally awesome to the mixture. You have to let the bottle wit open for 10-15 minutes to release any out gassing but it works great on super greasy stoves and as a stain remover on clothes.
