Nice video. Do you know if there's any difference in the material of this thin tape for curves and the thicker Tamiya tape? I recently got some 40 mm Tamiya masking tape from amazon after hearing such great things about it, thinking I could cut it into strips and use it for curves. But the stuff has been a nightmare to work with. After I've cut it down into extremely small slivers (1mm-10mm and everything in between) I still can't get it to easily form a curve like you show in your video. It will only take a curve with the thinnest pieces, but it only does that by forming many wrinkles on the inside edge that can extend to the outer edge, and the curve usually isn't even. What's more, it often comes up from the other end while you're trying to lay it down. Even when cut normally the edge doesn't seem to want to stay down well and I got a very ragged, unacceptable edge. Admittedly I was using thin coats of spray paint and not an airbrush, but I was anticipating having problems from when I was trying to mask off based on how the tape was behaving. Do you have any thoughts on why this tape isn't working as I expected? It's been pretty frustrating and I'm not sure what to try next.
Nice review, my friend. I've been using both the 2 and 3 mil tape for about a year now. Great stuff!
thanks mate. I will be grabbing some of the 2mm stuff as well.
