During the attractions brief history as a theme park, Discovery Kingdom has accumulated close to 40 different rides, including a total of 8 roller coasters. People really hate this park and ignore it, but once you watch this, it changes your opinion on this. It’s my home park and I’ve ridden all coasters, it doesn’t get old to me, every enthusiast should see this.
IKR it's original intention was to never become a thrill park and just be a park for the families unlike the ones coaster enthusiasts look for, but when they realized that getting six flags to own this park was a great option, they just went with the best they can and continue to learn on what could be a good fit to the park when it comes to thrill rides and roller coasters. Overall they are getting better and better on it, and while six flags is facing so many problems when it comes to debt and bankruptcy, the park overall was a major success and I as a coaster enthusiast enjoy this park a lot, it may not be the best coaster lineup, it's pretty unique than most parks in the country and even the world. And I still do hope their coaster collection gets higher and better tho
Yes, it is also my home park, and i think it extremely underrated by many. It has some pretty good rides, and its just an overall fun park to go to.

FINALLY!! bout time this one was made lol. This is my home park!!! i have a personal record of 17 rides in a day on medusa, definitely the best coaster in the park IMO, btw pro tip for those who haven't gone to the park; go for medusa in the inner seats, the outer seats tend to have a noticeable rattle and tends to jerk into the zero g roll with little to no airtime, while the inner seats execute everything perfectly. This is just what i noticed having ridden it 17 times in a day lol. Glad this video was finally made!

One day I rode Joker 4x, Medusa 7x, Kong 5x, Boomerang 2x, Superman 3x, and the flat rides aren't too important. This was on an empty day on Fright Fest.
+Nick D Cr8tor I love marathoning Kong and even the operstors ask if I'm okay as a joke. It is always empty and it holds a special place as one of the 2 coasters (roar and Kong) to be my first 48" coaster! Also, Ninja in magic mountain was one of my first coasters too. sorry I love talking aiut this stuff.

Discovery Kingdom has a great collection of coasters. The nice thing about having a combination theme park/zoo is that on busy days you can look at the animals if the ride lines are too long :)

This my home park, and I feel this park is underrated. People just look at the lineup of only 10 coasters and think its a small bad park. The Joker is a great RMC hybrid, Superman is my favorite (and first) skyrocket two, V2 I feel is actually better than most coasters of its kind, because this is unique because the twisted part isn't straight up, Wonderwoman is a great frisbee flat ride. Daredevil chaos (not) coashter is my favorite larson looper. Medusa is an amazing B&M floorless and the sea serpent roll is great. Kong is a Vekoma SL, so meh, but its one of the better Vekoma SLC's. Road runner express is bad tho. Cobra is a good family coaster. Boomerang was my first coaster with an inversion, and I like it.

Road Runner should be called whiplash express, honestly. Roar was my first roller coaster ever, and it was pretty shaky. Other than that, it's a very well-rounded park that has something for anyone. Besides, who other than Ssundee doesn't like aquariums. Bonus: Its right by a cool train, and large food court. Best theming of any six flags park.
They need to get rid of kong/boomerang and make something better
There's 13 six flags parks. That's a whopping 73 flags!
13 multiplied by 6 is 78? Which parks lost a few flags along the way? ;)
Don't forget the great conflict of '11 when many flags just went up in flames

Great video on Discovery Kingdom! I would say it's the lesser of the Six Flags parks in California despite having some good coasters like Medusa, Joker, and Superman: Ultimate Flight. :)

Fond memories going to Marine World as an elementary school field trip in the mid to late 90's. I always loved the water ski show, which he didn't mention. I remember when they installed that animatronic T-rex for the Jurassic Park too. That thing was sweet. Also surprised no mention of the killer whale shows.

I really love this park not just because it's my home six flags park, but because of what they've done over the years and I don't understand why people like to hate on this park and ignore it a lot. *HQCC (the skywarp) had a change in mechanics. The ride is no longer a tire drive ride as evident of the lack of motors next to any of the tires. The ride is (supposedly) powered by two hook and chain lift systems incorporated into the sides of the track much like 4D free spins.
Oh right, that's interesting to hear! I'd love to know more about the ride system itself.

I remember when Pandemonium closed... It was a sad day. Also Roar closing was a big big let down. :/ I still enjoy the park today though! Nice camera work and quality btw.

I have so many passions for this park as my childhood and homepark. Another park is Magic mountain. I love these parks with a huge passion. :')
The worst is I went when it was tony hawk and saw how long the line was and told my self I would check it out next time. Never did get to ride it

The last time I remember going there, in Redwood City, it also had waterslides Tiger Mountain Rapids. I never got to go on the slides since the day care (or maybe the bus driver) didn't want a bunch of wet kids on the seats for the hour-long ride home.
A few years prior to Shouka being moved to SeaWorld I would visit the park multiple days a week. After witnessing multiple days where she would be swimming in water so filthy you couldn’t see her, I sent a letter to the AZA asking them to look into the issue. A couple of years later, a woman came out with a petition to have Shouka moved due to the fact that she was alone which was a violation of federal law. This was not entirely true. Shouka had been housed with Merlin, a bottlenose dolphin and they were getting along fine. Soon after however, Shouka was moved to SeaWorld and that woman has been patting herself on the back ever since. However, when I asked a former SixFlags trainer, who had been employed at the time of the move, told me that it wasn’t so much a case of Shouka being alone, but that the tanks filtration systems were found to be unable to handle the waste produced by an orca and it was deemed unsuitable to house Shouka. The reason why Six Flags didn’t set the record straight is because they didn’t want to draw the negative attention from animal rights activists who would have then realized that Six Flags had knowingly been housing their orca in a facility with poor filtration systems. Had this knowledge been made known to the public sooner, then animal rights activists would have hounded the park for criminal negligence and demand further investigations into the park’s care for its animals. I support SeaWorld, I don’t support Six Flags. I have seen and heard of numerous cases of criminal negligence and suspicious animal deaths at the park. I would actually love to see PETA turn their attention to Six Flags and leave SeaWorld alone for a moment. I want to see Six Flags Discovery Kingdom lose their rights to house animals.
And Batman I didn’t new Zonga was a ride there even I’ve been there like 8 times

This park is the closest to me. I live in Northern California. I really like Sky screamer and the cobra rollercoaster but when I go back I’m gonna try the bigger coasters.

6:37 MY FAVORITE RIDE lol not really but it used to be. funny story, last time I went to discovery kingdom with my youth group there was a big sign saying the hoppy frog was closed, a couple jr. high guys were sarcasticly yelling about how upset they were it was closed, so i went and did the same thing but not sarcasticly and they felt so bad that they were laughing at the ride cause they thought it actually was my favorite😂

Funny story: Kong was my first SLC, and I loved it for a long time until I found out that coaster enthusiasts hate them. Then suddenly, I felt the headbanging and stopped liking it as much.
Not all SLCs are bad, and you should form your own opinions. I like most of the SLCs I've been on! :)

thanks for the video, a word of warning six flags seems to have a problem keeping their rides going at this park! (my personal nickname is six flags temporarily closed as most coasters when they are operating will break down while you are in line I go once a month and it happens at least once a visit) or will just not open (they cant keep wonder woman running and it's their new ride!

Zonga was the worst coaster I've ever been on. A bunch of my family went when it opened, went on the ride first, then we all went home because it made is all feel terrible.
