- We test out the Maverick Quantum XT Flux and Associated Rival MT10 at a local skate park.
With LEDs, a hair net and 1½mph extra, there is a clear winner! 🤣
"After all those backflips, everything on this Quantum is perfect"..... but had stopped to wonder what is the clickety click from the motor.. :-) I have a couple of Mavericks and they fall apart just by looking at them.
100% the associated is the MUCH better truck. Just the build quality, the shocks actually work
Great vid guys, i have both of these trucks & luv running them both. Bonus is the price on the Quantum.
Good choices! And yes...if you spend the saved money on modifications you could probably do uprated driveshafts, uprated esc and a 2nd battery for the price of a stock rival! But they are both cool :)
I can't even push the full throttle with my Maverick Q' MT Flux
got a 3S 50% & 70% but it keep doing wheelies.. Even when I'm on half throttle
Banging Monster Truck
Actually Maverick is a very good brand, for me it was more for beginners but after I got that Maverick MT flux I understand that this brand is now doing Stronger models, for anyone..
So that's cool
Thanks for sharing guys 👌
Quantums brilliant pal has mine a few months now tuff cookie 🍪
Class vid bro 👌🔥
I can fathom why it's £100 cheaper.....every time you take it out it breaks something. I have done much research and watched a ton of videos and my conclusion is the Maverick is simply unreliable. The MT10 is virtually indestructible. With these MT bashers what you want is a truck you can just take out and beat around time after time after time. This video proved one thing....The MT10 was running for the entire video whilst the Maverick was running less than half the video. That's where your £100 is at.
It's not 100 cheaper. Almost every ride you'll be doing repairs even without jumps and that 100 will disappear VERY quickly. Mine has cost me 400 euros within 3 months with all the repairs so far and you get the bonus of having to baby it and still getting embarrassed and disappointed every time it breaks before it runs through 1 battery pack. Absolute garbage one of the worst purchases I've made.
I only use mine in snow and soft soil now and that's the only way it stays functioning.
WOW! it handled very well.
From what i've see in various videos, the MT10 looks more reliable than Quantum.
Although true, you have to consider the price difference between them ;)
Great video again I have the xt version and its nice to see it get a little bashed but shame about the truck bro 👍
She's all good dude just needed a front shaft...there's not many trucks that wouldnt break something at a skatepark...have had far far worse from way more expensive brands! Just starting on the mods now 😁
My maverick quantum flux xt drive shaft snapped from driving fast on 3s 😥
Front one? If so HD part MAV 150231 is a huge improvement.
Nice vid again. My mate has the MT10 too, comparable cars, both are very fun. I was going to say have you seen that maverick have released uprated drive shafts, but you mentioned it towards the end. Part number MV150231 in case anyone wants to find them
...And MV150232 for the rear
Nice one Kevin!
Fitting those as we speak, amongst other goodies ;)
Wanted both to be stock for the vid, in the interest of fairness!
@@MPRCBBRR what other upgrades are available for these?
@@markymark9407 nothing model specific as yet, but everything is industry standard sorta sizes. On our one I have just done steering servo, esc, rebuilt the shocks with thinner oil (they are 100mm shocks so easily replaceable with aftermarket if you wanted) ... the wheels and tyres can be swapped out to any 2.8 size wheel with a 12mm hex...again common as muck. Could change the body to whatever you fancied, theres a lot of adjustment in the mounts. They are quite a good canvas for mods ;)
@@MPRCBBRRyeah I’m gonna do the shock oil in mine, heard it was like treacle, will eventually upgrade to alloy body shocks with thicker shafts, ... Seen a nice F150 body on modelsports but out of stock, I was wonder what turn buckle rods fit it, as the rear ones seem like there flimsy , also I’ve noticed a lot of play in the steering/front wheels, one wheel kicks out when you take off on full trigger, any suggestions on a fix?
The Maverick is a lot for the money but I don't see any parts for it in the US currently. 12/27/20 🤔
Am sure you will get them soon, the release date for you guys was pretty close to Thanksgiving and Christmas! Here is a link to one of the main dudes importing these stateside :)

@@MPRCBBRR Yeah I asked my LHS and he told me that parts are on their way. Thanks.
✌🏻😎🏴nice video guys. What broke? & what are the upgraded ones you mentioned ?
Hiya! Was just the front driveshaft (the bit I picked off the floor 😅) cheap and easy to upgrade to part number #150231 which are much thicker versions. Other than that everything came back good as new on both trucks...which is good...that skatepark claimed 2 rustlers, an emaxx and a HSP brontosaurus before!
Rival mt10 is loads better.
I will take the maverick $209 usd vs $309 usd for virtually the same performance is a big win.
Where can I buy the maverick for 209.00?
Nice video. I'm looking to purchase one of these for my son for Xmas. It will be our first proper rc car. What batteries can you recommend for this? Will a lipo 3s be too much for a child? I'lle probably buy 2 so we can run for longer. I'm thinking 40mph might be too much for a child
If it's your first proper RC, I'd suggest getting a couple of 2S packs, then once you find it easy to drive move up to 3S.
They also do a brushed version which could be even more child friendly, and could be upgraded later!
Just look for Maverick Quantum, but not the "Flux" version which denotes brushless :)
2s 4000/5300 50 or 60 C, set the esc punch mode to 1 on your kids car, on 4 mine wheelies away and too powerful for a nipper without experience!!!!! Can even run it on a 7.2 NIMH until he learns, bought me a flux and the nipper a brushed version to get him started, I’ll upgrade my motor and esc then slap the flux set up in his brushed one when he learns to look after it 🤪
I’m think off getting the maverick for me and my son he 6 years old would he be ok with this? Is there away to turn speed down? And where is best place to purchase one? Great videos 👍
Hiya thanks for the comment!
2 ways to tackle the speed...
The easiest is to buy the regular Maverick Quantum (not the Flux) this is mechanically the same truck but it has a brushed motor so is slower and easier for a child to learn on, you could always upgrade it later. It also comes with a battery and charger included.
If not you can simply run the Flux on either 2S or an older style nimh battery. But it will still be quite fast.
Not sure where you are in the world but here in the UK my favourite model suppliers are Modelsport, Wheelspin Models or just good old ebay :)
@@MPRCBBRR ok thanks for advice I live in uk East Sussex plenty off fields were I live so be ideal to get out with all this COVID 👍
@@tomtintin80 awesome! Not far off of us in West Sussex / Hants borders! I come your way a lot for racing at Arlington. Have a great Christmas :)
hi tj i bought my 6 yr son the brushed quantum first it is a waste of time he got bored slow and kept burning out motors (3). i returned it and purchased the flux so much better and can handle more terrain. i run the lipo 2s in it and u can slow the speed down with the handset if needed.
nice jump~! good video~!
What lipo batteries are you using in the quantum are they 11.1v 5000mah ?
3S 11.1v absima hardcase batts. Cannot remember if they were 5000 or 5500 but in that range+
I had that motor issue on the maverick strada mt brushless and it was new out the box. Is there anything I can do, I’ll take it to the model shop where I brought it from and see if he can do anything. Does anyone know if it’s normal for mavericks or do I need to get it fixed/different truck altogether?
It was the esc making it stutter. They are a bit under-specced. They come with an 80A one now I think (as an option)
I just swapped it for a cheap hobbywing 60A one and it was perfect and way happier for 3S bashing.
both done well there but I think id save the 90 quid and get the maverick myself. enjoyed the video 😃👍
I own the maverick myself and when I run a 3s battery it over heats thats what caused the car to shut off but the steering still worked it's definitely a great car tho I'm in Australia and it's $380 without a battery and charger
@@jaysdailyvlogs976 you need to run a 12v fan instead of a 5v fan on the ESC when on 3s.
@@jaysdailyvlogs976 with an ESC upgrade you'd end up with one hell of a wee truck, fan the motor and gear her up
The Quantum doesn't have centre diff or slipper clutch, how does it affect its performance/ reability vs one that has like the Mt10 and Granite? Thanks
Seems ok as yet, have just stripped it down to fit the first lot of upgrades and there is no gear wear. It also makes it super responsive in the air, and means it doesnt have the issue of excessive power being sent to the front wheels under power like a lot of center diff cars as stock. The gearing is all metal...the only thing that may have more stress are driveshafts but again, uprated ones are now fitted and ready to test :) most people tend to super-stiffen or lock a centre diff anyway!
Thanks for the comment.
@@MPRCBBRR thanks for the reply.
How do you find HSP's? Like Savegary v2 1/8, if you have experience with them? Thanks
More power to the channel!
@@rcast3763 have no experience with that model but I know which it is. My personal experience with HSP was terrible, but that was with the Brontosaurus. The thing is, that truck also became the Maverick Strada series. As with a lot of brands, they mostly rename and resell other models...even these Quantums are sold under a different name! The luck of the draw is wether the original model is good or bad! Same with FTX, great crawlers (based on RGT brand) but below average bashers! Anyway sorry for essay. Long story short, do some research before buying any budget brand, as you can win or lose.
@@MPRCBBRR true budget brands don't have consistency as name brands. And very true is a toss between losing or winning 😆
@@MPRCBBRR thanks for the advice, ordered the Big Rock just waiting for delivery. They get sold out quickly here in Australia!
The maverick quantum is weak as piss. Spent 40 quid in a week repairing it.
Lol no way the cheaper one was slower and broke 3 times and slower on pull away pay more stay safe other one no brakes lol
Should be compared to quantum+, thats what i want to see. Basically the same price
Well...we now own both! This was long before release of the Q+ though. First impressions of the Q+ are that is more of a driving set up than bashing, its super stable and fast, but we will see how it does!
@@MPRCBBRR, awesome. Would love to see a decent comparison vid of quantum plus v associated mt10 as im stuck between them both. Associated has better heritage but quantum+ parts are cheaper and is powered and partnered with hpi, difficult decision.
@@MrHipeople111 we just released Q vs Q+ vid which highlights differences. I'd say if you are bashing focused then the Rival. If you are track/driving focused then Q+...such a stable rig.
So, ur running the Rival stock on 2s or was it 3s?
& are u happy with the purchase so far👍🏽
It's stock, most of that it was running on 2S, the speed test and some later jumps were 3S, need 3S to do back flips. Had it a little while and it's been great, proper little jump monster.
@@MPRCBBRR thanx for the feedback🤝🏽, having to wait till xmas b4 i get to bash😔and sourcing sum Helion Avenge front A-arms, as i hear it's a needed upgrade🤷🏽♂️.
Keep up the great work with your vids👍🏽
Nice quick as shit 👌👍Keith
Yes both rapid as stock! I would say no extra power needed...buuuuuut that's not how we roll 🤣
@@MPRCBBRR upgrades untill can't any more ha good job 👍
