In the original song "Torna a casa", they deleted the phrase: you reflection in a mirror to be perfect. replacing it with the phrase: Because life, without you, cannot be perfect
The argument was kind of along the lines that Damiano felt Vic was making objections to the song but wasn’t proposing her own alternatives. Then Vic explained the times that she had gotten involved in working out alternatives and it went back and forth from there. It’s a really interesting look at the creative process from a team perspective and I think it’s cool they were all secure enough in their relationships with one another to include this kind of content in the doco. The song they were arguing about is called Niente Da Dire, by the way, and it’s worth a listen! I get it stuck in my head a lot actually, the chorus really sticks with you.
The argument between Damiano and Victoria in this video was that according to Damiano, Victoria was saying she didn’t like a certain part of the song but wasn’t really giving her own input while the rest of them immediately tried to make it better. Damiano is essentially telling Victoria that if she wants to say no to something in the song, she can, but she must give her own input on how to make it better if she does. I get why you sort of misunderstood the argument there, I had to rewatch it just to fully grasp what was being said.
What I love about how they work together is that they do argue, you can see they're so young, and to have your stuff criticised can sometimes feel very vulnerable- even when you're all trying to make something together- but they all are present for the argument, and they have it out, and you see Ethan sort of directing it towards a conclusion. But then we immediately see Damiano self reflecting and being self aware, and then we see him and Vic cuddling and them hanging out together. I think it says a lot when a band as young as they were here can clash but then also not get bull headed about it and make up, it's quite a sibling dynamic, and it means you can probably risk being more vulnerable or more experimental because you know that an argument won't end it all- an argument is a problem to address as a four and resolve. I'm pretty sure Ethan specifically wanted them to include the arguments etc to show the truth of a process. And I think it makes their bond even more admirable. You have to work out the kinks in relationships as well as songs, and they did. (Also it's fascinating hearing the earlier versions of the songs as they are being put together and I love your enthusiasm for the music making process).
When I watched it, I had to pause it especially during the argument to see what they were saying. Is it just me, or doesn't it say a lot about them that they show those arguments? Like, I think most groups would have hidden that from the public, but they have only shortened it, not removed it. Thank you once again for doing this, Måneskin is amazing and so are you!
Hi! I just wanted to clarify that when they are arguing, Damiano is saying that Vic should have tried to find a solution to what she didn’t like, because in his opinion she just expressed her opinion (which is fine) but without trying to find a better progression, when instead the other “three heads” (aka Damiano himself, Thomas and Ethan) tried to figure it out. They talk really fast and it is something we all tend to do in Italy when we are arguing ahahaha. I hope I was able to explain myself. Anyway, thank you for your reactions!! I love them! Love from Italy✌🏻
i'm italian and yes, the italians talk really fast hahahah. i know that all the members of the band can play the instruments of others, in fact they exchanged it in their old concerts
Great reaction bro! Don’t worry if sometimes you don’t speak, we focus on their video too cos it is like watching a movie with a friend and sharing comments real time every now and then. Of course we will be there for part 3! Btw the first song they were creating is ‘LASCIAMI STARE’ , then you saw them creating ‘NIENTE DA DIRE’ which is nice, missing from your collection. The third song is of course ‘TORNA A CASA’ which is the first time that Marlena their muse comes into their songs. You probably have noticed that the intro is basically the same we find in the official song, whilst the chorus is very confused, and fortunately was almost completely changed even if it was nice too. Can’t wait for part 3 then. It gave me the most beautiful emotions when the riff of ‘LE PAROLE LONTANE’ came out from Thomas guitar… and btw a great live version of LE PAROLE LONTANE/distant words is available with English subtitles and Jesus you can’t miss that, the voice of Damiano is so passionate there, pure magic
Hey bro before I listen to part 2, want to inform you that TOMORROW is going to come out a featuring of Maneskin and IGGY POP!!! As far as I know it will be a rewriting of I wanna be your slave
Damiano can play a bit of guitar but usually only does it to fill in the texture of the song like when Thomas is doing a solo or something. He plays it in the live versions of vent'anni if you look at any of them
No, Damiano is saying that even if they all like the first option as she said No, I don’t like it, they all get to try and find other options while she didn’t do anything. Thomas even said You know what? I like the first option better! But Damiano answered No, forget about it. We meed to find something new because Vic didn’t like it. It wasn’t even an option because it’s a band and they have to like everything. All of them. But she replied saying even when Damiano didn’t like some part of a song she worked hard to find other options. In the end, Thomas or Ethan said ok, you’re arguing about it for half an hour, I think it’s better if we look for a solution now.
Great reaction...damiano was saying that it s ok to disagree about something, but you have to try to come with something else. Damiano and vic are also different, but like vic said he is the most important person from her life and you can also see how damiano is always very protective of her. Also...the birth of torna a casa,my fav song and i think is also very special to damiano.
I'm loving watching you watch these... it's always fun to watch people learn about artist on a deeper level. Can't wait for the next part. Damiano and Vic get into it a lot. They are both strong personalities so they tend to argue a bit during this documentary lol. But you can tell their bond and friendship is so strong that they respect each other and are able to argue without bad blood.
This is the final version of the song they were talking/arguing about 😉 🇮🇹 "Niente da dire" Victoria is always right for me by the way 😉 Link: ua-cam.com/video/KAKKThhKbbg/v-deo.html
Once you finish watching "This is Måneskin" you should watch the San Remo version of Amadoti. It was a duet with Manuel Agneli who was their coach and mentor on the X Factor.
I'm really happy 'cause you liked the video. A lot of people find the "making of" a little bit boring but personally I love it! I'll wait for part 3 :)
Really enjoying watching their creative process, and your response to their creative process! I'm not musical myself, so seeing how much work goes into it is really enlightening! Regarding the argument, it just reminded me how young they all are. Damiano is 19 here, Vic is 18 (and Thomas and Ethan are 17! They were babies!). They both had good points and bad points - Vic pointed out when something wasn't working but didn't offer alternatives (but had in the past), Damiano wanted her to offer an actual alternative but I felt he was being a bit defensive as well. And that's okay! They're kids working out their first album, and they both seem like very strong personalities, and the more they work together, the better they get at that kind of conflict resolution. Just really fascinating to see that process.
Nice reaction Ang, as always! We can feel you're a passionate musician too. It's a pleasure to watch this documentary again, this time through your reactions. Don't worry, I think it's better not to pause the video too often!
I guess Damiano was also kind of saying if Vic wants to change something everyone tries to do that (Niente da dire session, clip before the discussion), and if Damiano wants to change samething he feels the band or vic did not immedieately try to improve things or try to come up with something he also likes.
Thanks for your reaction I can see you start to know måneskin more and more. Please if yiu think it wort it have look at MELANCHOLIA them cover are GRAUNDS or LEON or ALONE one of them beautiful songs. They are different and very special like måneskin. Hugs from London 🖤
Hey, beautiful speech there in the end, yup, thats what music is about.. And I love Maneskin lyric from La paura de buio "You will come back to me with your hands joined (in prayer)" - and its about the intense relationship between the artist and his music cause it can get hard, but in tje end youll come back
No actually Damiano wasn't saying what you understood at all (but it's perfectly reasonable that you didn't catch it cause italians talk really fast and even more when arguing lol), he said that it was perfectly okay for her to point out when she doesn't like something and that in fact when she did immediately all three of them (even if all three of them liked it instead) dropped the version she didn't like right away, without arguing, and tried to come up with something else. What he was "scolding" her about was that if she points out something she doesn't like she shouldn't just say that and then let the other "fix it" but also suggest an alternative (kinda like "you need to help fixing it too instead of just saying you don't like it"). And Vic was arguing back that she does try to give alternatives and help coming up with new versions when she doesn't like something, but there was not enough footage of the playing session they were talking about so we don't know who was right lol

Si, condivido. Mad è un grande amico, uno dei pochi "credibili" in circolazione!

3:40 Thomas says "Cool this thing" (upside down view)...
then they used it months later in "Vent'anni" VEVO official video (minute 1.50)

You could also watch Maneskin - Il ballo della vita tour (English subtitled). First episode is here: ua-cam.com/video/t3vstoFWBXo/v-deo.html
"Niente da dire" is on "Il ballo della vita"
We can see you long for that feeling, that experience of creating music again. Do it, not as a job, not for fame but to feed yourself.
I am actually currently almost completing an album 💯🔥🔥🔥

Totally take Victoria's side at this argument .
Could you enable subtitles ? You speak clearly but it could be of help to many Italians. TY
