- A one-hit-wonder relic of the '90s "jam band" era, or a pretty good band with some really bad luck? Why did the Spin Doctors fade from relevance in such a quick and spectacular fashion?

I was a devoted fan of the Spin Doctors. The skill of the original musicians was phenomenal, with solid jazz and Blues training and experience. It was reported that heroin was factor in their poor live performances, which were awful towards the end.
I saw some great performances in the 90s, and another in the 2010s when they played a free outdoor concert in Pershing Square in L.A. If there were any drug issues, it definitely didn't show at any of these shows.
No, their misfortunes started when they endured a major backlash, after Two Princes was a massive hit! ALL popular jam bands suffered a backlash later in the 90s. They couldn't get another hit, no matter what they tried.
I was a teenager in the mid 90's so I definitely remember the Spin Doctors.... honestly I wasn't a big fan of theirs, but I did like a few songs from them....there was a radio station in Philly bk in the mid 90's that held a concert with various bands playing and Spin Doctors was one of them.... actually, they were great live!! After they played they sat at a table and signed photos/ t-shirts etc and I remember the lead singer being so very laid back/cool/and so down to earth!! 😊
2 Princes played alot on the radio even to this day in 2023
I still prefer, Little Miss Can't Be Wrong!
I dig 'em both!
We will always support this channel. We wish them further success.
not one mention of "Just go ahead now"!!!!
That was the first song they talked about?
@@SecretWars98 sorry, must have been doing a bong hit and missed it!!
@@davidyoung518 Haha! Hey now sounds good to me! 😂
I must be one of the few who still have their debut album. What happened to atomic swing?
You mean the album that is 5 times platinum?
Yeah you're probably one of the only ones...
@@mikeygraves16 I bought it in vinyl back then, so that's what I didn't mention
@citizenVader Ah, ok yeah it's much different when you leave that part out lol
Spin doctors also featured on Sesame Street too.
These guys rock Eric Shankman is an awesome guitarist especially when they did The Hendrix tribute with Spanish Castle Magic
Fond memories
And you’ve got to believe in something and here comes the bride. I wonder who owns the sessions of you’ve got to believe in something and here comes the bride and pocket full of krypotonite and even turn it upside down too?
They lost me when they fired Mark.
Totally disagree with this...'Cleopatra's Cat' was a great very original sounding song. But, for me their jam band performances material is their best stuff. 'Homebelly Groove' album is a great example.
Lol better then Nirvana or Nickle Back
“If you or somebody you know still listen to music by the Spin Doctors, you can call for help at…”
I loved their debut but the follow-up was terrible. Not one memorable song on it.
One song 😂, but yehh agree rest were crap.
Never a fan, could never understand why the singer was prone to doing roundhouse kicks on stage. Boring music. JMO
That damn song still haunts me to this day
Who cares
