dude, I main luigi, and I have seen this video like 8 times, and every time I see it I hope that abate wins lol. it is really sad to see abate loosing the first match because he sd :/
I'm laughing because just over a year ago at KoC3 while Shroomed was playing Lucky, the commentators were like (paraphrased) "Yea, Shroomed could be another Sheik" and well, look at him now. No shade though. Shroomed is a great player.
And I wonder why eBay and such are out of good gamecube controllers.... cos I wonder why every player's controller is white and has to get disconnected to get reconnected with another controller again (bad for the ports but okay...). And if it were their own controller, why all white ??? Is there something for gamers? Better buttons?
Excuse me? You try playing luigi and see how he makes you better. If you actually think that luigi doesn't take skill you need to be disregarded completely. That's like someone saying fox is an easy character to master because he has shine. There's so much more than that to the character. Get melee educated before you comment like a fool
+Phoenix1212121212 Just like Samus. I can't believe that OP character is even allowed. Clearly a crutch for bad players- Think about it. Insanely long grab range, unlimited bomb-recovery, spammy missles that you can't dodge and That fucking OP Up-smash. Every time I see the Top-tier Samus or Luigi barely beat the bottom tier Fox I just shake my head. This is not the game based Sakuria wanted. }Kappa
Maybe I should explain myself a bit better. I'm not saying the character is OP in any way. Neither am I saying he doesn't require skill at all. The thing about Luigi though is that there's only 2 things that makes him win. First off is just the fact that you punish people from not executing their follow ups 100% correctly. Someone times your hitstun wrong and you punish them with a nair, or someone thinks you'll fly in a specific direction but you don't because you're floaty as fuck. This is why he isn't OP, as a pro player who has a rock solid punish game wont make those mistakes, but lesser players will, which makes him really good at little effort until you reach pro level. Secondly he's got a very easy punishgame on you, combined with his (for the most part) unpunishable wavedash approaches, and the fact that you don't have much of a combo game on him makes it so you have to have a lot better neutral game than him. Ofc again, pro players can just fuck up most luigis in a flow chart manner, but lesser players who haven't practised that wont be able to do that. So yeah, in summary I'm not talking about the absolute highest level of play here, hence why you can't call him OP. But it is true that he boosts a lot of players by just simply abusing the fact that they don't have frame perfect maneuverability. In short, you don't have to be better than them, they just have to have to be not extremely good.
Phoenix1212121212 There are going to be things that make characters good off mistakes anyday of the week. Play and counter-play applies to all characters. There are plenty of floaty characters that cant be easy combod like falcon, fox, falco, etc. Easy punish game? that could be applied to any character in the A-S tier range. Sheik punish game is brutal and not that hard to execute. At least from when ive played her. Also wavedash in is super punishable but people dont play against luigi enough to know how or care. But thats almost all low tiers. I have no idea how to fight a ness because Ive never had to play one on a competitive level. May I ask you who you play as? what character you main? I've mained luigi for 3 years and I promise those are not hte main two things that make him win. Frame perfect wavedashing and techchasing, DI mixup combos, and above all else mixing up his piss poor recovery. Sure you can take advantage of the things people are ignorant about but again that applies to all characters. If i didnt know fox had a shine spike then I wouldnt work my way around it. I encourage you to enter a tournament as luigi and tell me how easy it is at low levels. Ive had kids spam marths c-stick mindlessyl and almost beat me because I couldnt get in.
The year is 20YAYA, where everyone has mastered Luigi's JAP (Jank Ass Physics) to TAS levels of perfection. Every match is decided on port priority.
+Doctor Hotel Mario We need THIS Luigi in ssb4. Would be hilarious af.
*20YIPPEEYIPPEE
+Andre W Smash 4 sucks, why are there still some people who don't understand that. better would be a new melee game

Man, that was hard to watch. Abate just melted after that SD....
Good games from the guy. Dat Luigi in top 8 is nothing short of tasty.
Abate was really nervous, been in top 8 must feel weird for a Luigui player.
such an impressive performance by Abate that just shows that you don't need to play a high tier to get far in a tourney.
I'm laughing because just over a year ago at KoC3 while Shroomed was playing Lucky, the commentators were like (paraphrased) "Yea, Shroomed could be another Sheik" and well, look at him now.

I love how Abate does with Luigi always makes me laugh
I want to see the Luigi vs Doc match-up from these guys.
Good commentary/game. Learned a few things.
ryan lockwood streets 112 reference at 5:49 lmao
This set would've been so much different if Abate didn't sd in that first game. Sucks that he crumbled after that.
Toph, it's called the "tournament winner" because it wins the game for the other guy.
I always thought it was called the Tournament Winner because it lets your opponent win the tournament.
I feel sad: After that awesome show in the best of 64 melee singles, Abate should have won the big house - that would be the most awesome thing ever!
Luigi's Mid-Tier, not Low tier...
+Thegrovylekid Person Their way of thinking is if your character isn't in the top tier it's low tier.
scar and toph with the OFFEST of off days. scar was standard scar, toph was on some shit.
+Nate watson they were both sick
Lol toph gave the most botched explanation of the invisible ceiling lol
Abate reminds me of a rugged, less jacked Liam Hemsworth...
I always thought the joke about tournament winner is that it wins the tournament for the other person :D
+Jake .Upton That's exactly what I think.
I could just continue watching 10:03
It cool.
Sup, Donnie?
I main weege my personal smash name is B3TA
I had an apple this morning
Yo. What are these two dudes think they're talking about? Luigi. Is. Wack.
what the hell is up with the giant baby head? lol
It's a cutout of Mango's son
10:12 Abate didn't even want that misfire to happen I think. He nodded.
I love to see luigi

Shroomed looks like donkey kong

Teeth, I'm black myself lol

+Naji Holland nope
Honestly, Luigi is just a disgusting character that makes bad players place higher than they actually should. Glad to see shroomed taking him out.
