This is not the Elf Renault team car from #formula1 #formulaone
It's in great shape. And the car, too.
I'd love to ride from the back seat.
I wonder how this baby behaves in be-
I mean on the road
You’re not the only one 😂
What car?
I owned one of those 1n 1971. The jack handle doubled as a crank handle, there was a hole in the back, and a slot on the end of the crankshaft pulley where you could crank the engine manually if you had a dead battery.
What a beautiful chassis!
😎
Je suis bien d’accord ! 😂❤
Yo!
❤❤❤😄😄😄👍👍👍
Made in France
That was a pleasure to see. I haven't seen one of those in years. So nice to know that some people care enough to restore these treasures.
I am a fan of the R8. Any that are still left in Australia are spoken for. Renaults were interesting cars . The R8 in Australia had 4 wheel disc brakes. Good restoration.
I'm about buying One. A 1962 Gordini gold. 🥰
@@city7919 Where is that car . I knew a similar car, Good paint job , many years ago.
The car ain't bad either
When I was young, many, many, many years ago, a neighbor had one of these Renault Dauphines. Nice blast from the past.
Now that's the way to treat a car. I was half expecting it to start purring at some point. Apparently, even for the car the experience was jaw-dropping :)
😀👍
I had one of those during my military years stationed in France. Even that color. Brings back memories...
Blonde ?
Pinaples?
🤣
Never wanted to be a '59 Renault Dauphine more than now.😊
Yeah... that's a fine ride!
My uncle had one in Suriname, 1949. He would load 7 of us in the car at once. No A/C, lots of sweat. Great car, glad to see one is this condition, thanks…..
Such lovely bodywork; I then had to re-watch the video to notice the car.
I suppose you would. Because simple minds amuse easily.
Haven't you heard? Men are visual and appreciate good
looks. It's only natural.@@peteness9550
Rewatching the video I noted there’s a beautiful Renault Dauphine in display.
Looks like the car's not the only classic beauty in this video!
I had it! with 4 disc brakes!!! pioneering for its time.
Beautiful body work , car aint too shabby either.
excellent shape, car not bad either
I'm sure the blonde was put in thee to enhance the video. Not much interest in the car by anyone.
@@1940limited missing the point that you need to clarify your own remarks,French cars during this era are excellent,
@@1940limited Speak for yourself I am in love with that car. Yes, I noticed the pretty lady to. She'd be a nice addition.
what car?
Neat - I can recall the Renault Dauphin as being a popular car plastic model - at least where my parents shopped. I ended up assembling several of these as a child in the early 1960's. It is great to see a tour of the actual car!
The kids not liked these Matchboxed models, so they kept them in stores..
When you found your first Hot Wheel DieCast ?
@@lucasRem-ku6eb HotWheels, huh? I didn't start buying hotwheels until about 1968 or 1969
@@edsherrod5216 lol, before that it was all Corgi or Matchbox, you are right. Europe models !
Beautiful classic looks. I like the nice natural curves, you can tell it’s all original and hasn’t had any aftermarket work done to it. Just lovely.
Apart from the false nails 💅
Body work looks in pretty good condition , if only women lasted as well as this classic then in my old age I would be quite happy
The lines flow very nicely . Amazing attention to detail . Color combination as well as flawless body work . Beautiful proportions .. Now, , about the car .
Fifties and sixties french cars have really great styling , it’s a shame that modern cars look so boring now, very stylish presenter ,
The Citroën DS is still one of the most beautiful cars ever built.
Very true, modern days ost cars looks like eggs
@@jw582 Aerodynamics. An unfortunate necessity.
@reffoclcnu The German built 1959 model Opel Rekord Olympia four door sadan was a much better car than this. It was a much better equipped and better featured slightely bigger car than this. My late father owned one in the 70's here in South Asia.
What? You looked at the car!
I learned to drive in this car. Great fun to double-clutch due to the non-synchro mesh transmission. That skill is still with me today.
my first vehicle was a pickup with a manual. i had to "double-clutch" when going down through the gears. i haven't heard that term in decades.
Most of them had synchromesh on the upper gears. By the mid 60s they were fully synchronized, so you either had a very early one or the synchronizers were worn out.
@@vanceblosser2155 1961 Dauphine
A high school friend of mine bought one of those for 75.00 back in 1972. It was a fun car.
My parents had one of those when I was born. We drove around with a family of six in that thing. I don't know how. Thanks for the video!
I always wanted a Renault Dauphine. In 1968 I saw one for sale at a Car sales lot. Price £25.00. I paid £5 and was allowed to take it home promising to bring the rest of the money back the day after. I was 18 at the time. I drove it home, but I was a bit suspicious of how it drove. I got it home, and proudly showed it my dad. He took a look under the pedals under the drivers side, and noticed a lump of wood holding the brake, clutch and accelerator in place, the metal had rotted away. He told me to take it back. I sheepishly did so, and the lot owner gave me my five pounds back without a word. I never did get another, but at least I owned one for two hours!-I still think they look stunning!
Simply ingenious..👏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
I have seen this nice popular car in the sixties.
a beautiful car!
Such a nice simple practical car.
Thanks for the video which brings memories back to me . That model was popular in my country ( Vietnam ) during the sixties because it was used as taxi cabs .
I had one of these -a Gordini version second-hand, around 1966. It wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding - but it made a lovely noise driving around town at around 30mph.
I’m reminded by that old Moto Guzzi advert “long-legged and easy to live with”.
Des années 50 jusqu a 1975,l age d or du design automobile ! !
A colleague of mine had one of these. The gear selection when worn consisted of a jab into each corner of a circle to select the gears!
Most perfectly restored piece of jewellery, congratulations. I loved this car, it was my first, given to me by my father who drove it for 10 years. Unfortunately, massive rust meant that I had to part with it in 1969.
This was my 1st solo car ride at about 16. Had a 4 speed ( automatic clutch ) I believe. No foot shifting. It was great fun to drive. Never will forget those days.
It's interesting to note these facts.
French cars were so innovative. My friend had an early 70s Renault in college. It was so much more chic than our Bugs and Mercury Capris and other college kid cars of that era. His roommate had a Vega which was just sad next to the Renault.
A cute car. It's hard to believe that these were once sold in the USA. This one looks excellently restored.
I'd honestly consider taking a ride with her.
That's a blast from the past My sister in law had one when she met my brother in 1962. She was a very pretty blonde who looked a bit like the young lady in the review. My dad kept the car going for her. Not an easy job.
Good memories for you!
Phenomenal curves with dinky little headlights, 😉 actually one of the first cars I ever drove around a friends parents farm in the early 70's.
We know where the phenomenal curves are.
No fake headlights for the win!
Our family had one in the 60’s and 70’s, my mom drove it everywhere
My dad bought one of these in '62. I was 3 and still remember going to the dealer (in Orange County, CA) and especially the smell. Coming back from Riverside in the Santa Ana Canyon, the original Michilin tire blew out and we spun a few times, bouncing off a set of duels on a big belly dump truck. As far as my mom was concerned, that was the end of the "experiment" with small cars and good mileage. I had bounced off the doors in the back seat a few times too, so wasn't really sad to see it go. It was '64 and Jeep had it's first full production year for the Wagoneer and between that and a couple of Cadillacs, we never looked back even once at small cars. Lol!
Ils etaient necessaires.
This girl is so inadequate to presente this gem!
You must be joking
@@captainedc She had my rapt attention. I followed every word and watched every move.
Beautiful, and the car looks nice too.
My dad bought one for a work car. It would seat four people but by the time I was nine I wouldn't fit in the back. It was an interesting car. This was in Kansas. At times it would rain alot and flood the streets. The front floated but the wheels still steered. That was really cool.
How wonderful to know that this small car ever existed in Kansas in USA among all those other big and powerful American cars!!
@@janath9118 Those were the days! Free enterprise meant free enterprise until the EEC tried to protect their auto industries with tariffs... Or the other way about.
@@angusclark8330 Yes, I agree with you. Those days were simple but nice. I live in South Asia and here also it's like that. When time moved on, there came more rules and regulations which complicated everything.
I love the way she pronounced Renault ! 😊
Alors!
Trop belle cette Dauphine. Et la petite blonde va bien avec. Amitiés.
An exquisite presentation by a beautiful woman! Thank you!
She did a nice job showing this car! just real careful with it, hard to find a girl like that, nice job! nice video!
Thank you!
Bonito..Resistente..
When I was a kid, my dad always threatened to get one of these to make us behave lol.
I remember these and built the Airfix kit too. However they were notorious for rust and dissolving in the rain.
Sadly they were too early with using the same gauge steel the Japanese (especially Honda) started using later (and they also had a reputation for rusting away). By the 1980s they licked the rust issue with complete galvanization.
My uncle had one and I got to drive it once. I remember the TV commercials highlighting the country/city horn: "Renault Dauphine ".
Back in prehistoric times in Argentina, there were used as taxis and the name was Renault Gordini.
Great editing. Really concise video that presents mostly everything I'd wanted to see.
Excellent
Even the car found this review Jaw Dropping.
The Good-looking gal and the Old Dame Dauphine.
Quite a good show, old chaps!
Gyönyörű autó, gyönyörű hölgy.❤❤❤
What an angel 😍
Years ago I was driving down a street in San Francisco. A Black Dauphine pulled out of a specialist car repair place right in front of me. Wow, I thought, I haven't seen one of those in decades. Seconds later those slots in the back lit up orange and flames started coming out. Obviously the fuel line hadn't been tightened. I don't know how far the fire got but if there was no extinguisher aboard the whole thing would have probably been toast. Pretty sad particularly if they had just rebuilt everything.
If it was a recent incident I may know the fellow who owns that car.
Great show..nice model😍😍
Love it! The car is nice too!!
But total junk.
I fell in love with both.
I love that model! And the car is cute too.
Remember my next door neighbor had a maroon 61 Dauphin when I was at school. Certainly one of the most distinctive looking cars around at the time.
I used to get a ride to school in one of those. My neighbor owned one. Remember my friend's Dad using the crank to start the engine. We are talking 1970s Spain. Ours was front engine if I recall correctly.
Looks like a hell of a ride.
I was at a car auction in 1970 and looking at a well preserved Dauphine out of curiosity. There were not many around because most of them were scrapped because of rapid rusting. A local s/h dealer came over and told me not to buy it, which I had no intention of doing anyway. I asked him why ans he said the Renault Dauphine was the biggest pile of junk ever assembled to make a car. He added that no dealer would but it because they avoid them like the plague.Still it's nice to see one still surviving which has obviously spent most of its life indoors and probably has many patched welded on it.
But they took Vegas in trade. Go figure. The Dauphine looks like real quality besides the Vega and the engines lasted longer too.
Smokin hot. And I’m not talking about the engine.
Very nice rear area.
My family had one of those back in the 60s. I remember riding around in it as a kid. Ours was dark blue. There aren't very many of those around any more! I haven't seen one in 40 years.
The last time I can remember seeing one on the road here in Michigan was in 1971 or 1972.
That spoon shaped switch look funny as hell. I wish you have shown more about driving it tho.
Nice video! A couple of comments: 1) "Renault" is actually pronounced "REN-oh"...not "re-NALT"; 2) The 1959 Dauphine was equipped by the factory with a 3-speed manual, not a 4-speed. I have to assume that the transmission in the video car was changed during restoration.
You are correct with both. This one had the 4 speed fitted during restoration.
Oh my gosh, you are amazing!🦋🕊🌹
I think her dress is just beautiful!
Renault should make these again with updated materials..they would sell well.
Just loved the Dauphine when I grew up in the sixties.
Wonderful vidéo👍👍👍😎.., a very pretty, stylish young lady, presenting a legendary popular french car..💃🏼🚗👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟😎🥂🍾 !!!!!!!...... .My dad had this car, in the 60's, in the south of France....., only color was différent..., our car was light yellow.....Bravo, congratulations for this excellent présentation... 👍👍👍😎 !!!!!!....
Salut from France 🇨🇵😎
I have a ‘64 Dauphine. I purchased 7 vehicles, and parts that are compatible with the ‘64. For about $400.
The attention that this car has received, where ever we go, is pleasing, and humorous.
It does grate my nerves to hear people mispronounce the company’s name. It’s ren-no. Not ren-alt.
Renault pronounced it ren-alt in their US advertising...blame them.
Oh my godness, the first car of my daddy ,thank you for exhibition 😢👍
OMG that's a beautiful dress!!! You wear it well my dear.
That's a fine ride!
Ótima demonstração e fácil entendimento. Muito mais durável que os carros atuais. Gostaria de ter um, assim, bem original.
Moving sculpture, but these Dauphine's are delicate machines. 35 years ago one was parked in Alexandria, Virginia, and it looked like a flaky pastry made of rust all around the bottom of the car.
Would love to see ride along test drives from her! :)
Layout similar to my old Fiat 850s. I'm a sucker for water cooled rear engine cars from the 50's and 60's. Presenters tropical Pineapple themed sun dress for a car named the Dolphin (translated) was a pleasant touch.
This was my family's first "second" car. We called it a RenaulT also. Hit that T Americans. It was so slow it couldn't get out of it's own way. Dad didn't keep it long. The next second car was a 1964 Chevy Bel Air. Talk about all American. I loved that car. That was sold for $200 when my folks bought their first brand new car. A 1974 AMC Gremlin. That purchase must have had something to do with the oil crisis.
My uncle had one when I was a kid. The engine over the rear wheels made it a good choice for snow.
I remember seeing those running around when they were new. Back then you didn't see many foreign cars where I was raised in Texas so it was noticed.
Love the body lines.👌
