To be considered that then I think a team has to prove they can win these tournaments, and then follow it up again. There's not been an international team like that since Spain with Xavi and Iniesta and all them. England could win if they hit form, progress to the later stages and then have players that step up in the big moments (as per France, Portugal, etc). Traditionally, they haven't tended to do that right at the end of tournaments but they might find that this time, as the women did recently (it's absolutely possible, just not more likely than not). Conversely, teams like Germany and Italy seem to convert semi final appearances into tournament wins more regularly so I'd look out if either of them bumble through to the semis. It'd be typical of them to stink the tournament out, wrestle a win in the last group game, then sneak through unconvincingly. But it's O'Hara and hyperbole is what he does so best to view it more like chest-beating than objective analysis.
Gareth presser 1) He said squad has been better than players dropped (this is new from Gareth) 2) He said Kane is the starter. Why is he saying that? It will bring down Toney/Watkins 3) Gareth did not seem to understand he can change squad until first game. (Injuries - players getting back in)
Still getting excuses around Grealish …?? He has NOT been injured most of the season, he has not started often for MC because he is not good enough, slows the game down more than attacking defenders….. Southgate has shown he has got balls…? I would not be surprised if Grealish will be moved on from MC by the end of this season ..?
Gomez has been great for liverpool this season if shaws not fit he should start on the left, he's played a lot of games for Liverpool on the left covering for Robertson when he was out.
The Only thing I would change is Branthwaite for Dunk and Grealish for Bowen (or drop one of the centre forwards for Grealish), Bowen is very good and it is sad, but there are 1 or 2 games in a tournament you will wish you had Grealish.
Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard, Beckham, Owen, and Rooney might beg to differ. Think the current squad has a decent starting 11 but in this modern era where 5 subs are used we're a bit light, especially given some of the omissions.
I not actually convinced its not the best starting 11. I think its close.... its weaker at the back than the Terry/Ferdinand/Cole days but I think the attackers are better, and the midfield players on par.

Euro 1996: Seaman, Pearce, Neville, Adams, Southgate (he was in the team yes), McManaman, Anderton, Ince, Gascoigne, Shearer, Sheringham. Haven't seen a better one in my lifetime AND they actually operated as a team with chemistry, not a bunch of names loosely pieced together. O'Hara should know, he would have been 9 or 10 at the time. But he needs to pander to the usual rhetoric about how great England's squads are.
This is not the best England squad , the biggest deficit is power in defense & set pieces one of our strengths in the past You are correct about Branthwaite especially with McGuire going as well. Pickford/Tarks/Branths solid all season in defense and the odd goal with the second clean sheets in the premier league last season after Arsenal.
Apart from Kane and Foden can’t see any world class player. I know people will question about Henderson with an Engine(Bellingham)but he’s just decent.
Because you are watching Sky Sports, obviously they will support England and talk about England continously... Granted English is a global language which automatically propel Sky as one of the biggest platform out there, same with BBC.
Trent is only there because Southgate's been pressured by the woke media. He's sloppy on the ball & I watch every LFC game at least once. Check out how Liverpool's season fell off a cliff as soon as Trent returned to the side when he recovered from injury..
Squad is strong. But it depends on how Southgate lines them up. Does he force the saka, foden, bellingham selelction or is he bold enough to drop one of them to create that balance in the team? Will foden be as dynamic on the left or should he play in the 10 with Bellingham deeper alongside Rice. Or do you need some creativity from midfield and select Trent and move bellingham in the 10? Gareth has some headaches
Can’t believe Southgate couldn’t slot Jack in! It’s madness! He looked sharp as fk when he came on the last game! Taking Gordon over grealish! Madness!
@@anthonycampbell2151 or maybe chemistry is an issue. Players might perform better depending on their position and the players they're surrounded with. England lack that chemistry it seems
@jesss7438 chemistry is the issue the past nearly 60 years you think they would have sort that out by now. England have never beaten a major world or European nation outside of England in a knockout game? Why is that? Just simply not good enough
If Jarrad Branthwaite is the biggest mistake in this England squad, then Garath has done a good job in my opinion. Grealish flatters to decieve and Maguire actually plays well for England but is out with a calf injury and Maddison has not been producing for the last 6 months. So all in all an fair squad. I do think this is the best England squad as far as talent goes we've had for quite a while, let's hope it translates to good performances.
Southgate has picked players on form in the attack and midfield but then he still would have picked Maguire without the injury and Dunk hasn't been in form. Branthwaite would have been perfect as there's not enough height at the back!
I wish the best to this england squad. I hope their win the tournament because he make big decisions with rashford ,grealish,James , and maddison out of the team, picking young inexperienced players all the best. I got my fingers crossed already .and by the way, the most strong team in this euros men by men is Portugal by a mile.
This gentleman I think hasn't watched kobbie mainoo play this season both for club and Country.. he never mentioned him, but I think kobbie should be in this starting eleven.
Fair play absolutely best squad that could have been picked..can’t have any negativity here…finally Southgate has learnt what he must do (he’s obviously listened to the criticism) and is really going for it - I THINK WE CAN DO IT NOW!!!
Fair play to Aaron Hunt. Went from chilling with Simple Simon and Luke Bennett to kicking ball with Wayne Rooney round his gaff. Genuinely sound geezer as well
If England don’t somehow mess up in the group stages ( and not win it) then it should be an easy road to the semis where they’ll probably face France. In a rematch of the World Cup Quarter-final, this could be the match of the tournament. My bet would be on France to get through mostly because of the difference in Managers.
I wouldn't start Bellingham upfront, I'd rather start a proper No_10 ( Foden) and start a proper winger on the left Bellingham/Gallager and Rice in Midfield.
Germany: Rudiger and Tah. France: Saliba/Konate and Upamecano Portugal: Ruben Dias and Danilo Pereira Stones and Guehi don’t fill me with a lot of confidence.

Gareth presser
1)
He said squad has been better than players dropped (this is new from Gareth)
2)
He said Kane is the starter. Why is he saying that? It will bring down Toney/Watkins
3)
Gareth did not seem to understand he can change squad until first game. (Injuries - players getting back in)
About time players picked on performances.
I think England will do well to get to the quarters lets be realistic guys 😊
Still getting excuses around Grealish …?? He has NOT been injured most of the season, he has not started often for MC because he is not good enough, slows the game down more than attacking defenders….. Southgate has shown he has got balls…? I would not be surprised if Grealish will be moved on from MC by the end of this season ..?
Never rated Grealish
2 goals in 35 caps and people still think he should get selected.
Completely agree!
Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard, Beckham, Owen, and Rooney might beg to differ. Think the current squad has a decent starting 11 but in this modern era where 5 subs are used we're a bit light, especially given some of the omissions.
O'Hara is thick as mince. As an England fan I find him an embarrassment. England will be out around the quarter final stage.
So who is going to beat them in the
Quarters if as you say we are going
Out
Or 2nd round, because our defense is now weakened
@@martinmoore7074Germany could beat them in last 16
@@neilbatterbee9122 Germany?
Thick as mince😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
love how this vid is beside Iceland 1 England 0 vid hahahaha
I would of included Branthwaite,Grealish, Elliott and Sancho.
Who you taking out then ?
Sancho is a braindead take 😂
Good thing you are not the england manager then
Some people talk utter rot. Elliott and sancho 😂
It’s not the Best Squad in terms of Starting XI but it has the best squad depth
I not actually convinced its not the best starting 11. I think its close.... its weaker at the back than the Terry/Ferdinand/Cole days but I think the attackers are better, and the midfield players on par.
@@paulmapp8306ngl Rice and Bellingham are amazing. But compare the midfielders to the likes of Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham.
The old midfield was objectively better but in attack this England side is amazing and far better.
@@paulmapp8306For the first time, I AM SURE that England will NOT do well in this major tournament because of the state/health & choice of defenders!
@@benhayes5396 yes and no.... we couldnt play those 4 together - we tried but it never worked. I dd say midfield was on par - andI think they are. Those 4 I think were the same level as Bellingham and Rice - and I think others arnt far away either in truth - certinly not as a team (v individually). Play a 3 with Rice, Bellingham and Foden - and I think thats a better team than Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes for instance.
@@paulmapp8306 I think there is more balance in this side (all the older midfielders were very attacking without a good holding player like Rice) but on paper the players in that midfield midfield of Scholes deep and Lampard and Gerrard in front with Beckham as a box to Box RM is better.
Branthwaite should be in for Dunk and one of Chilwell or Mitchell should have been picked in place of Shaw.
Southgate blew it with Ben White situation
Euro 1996: Seaman, Pearce, Neville, Adams, Southgate (he was in the team yes), McManaman, Anderton, Ince, Gascoigne, Shearer, Sheringham. Haven't seen a better one in my lifetime AND they actually operated as a team with chemistry, not a bunch of names loosely pieced together. O'Hara should know, he would have been 9 or 10 at the time. But he needs to pander to the usual rhetoric about how great England's squads are.
That tiger tattoo is a disgrace
This is not the best England squad , the biggest deficit is power in defense & set pieces one of our strengths in the past
You are correct about Branthwaite especially with McGuire going as well. Pickford/Tarks/Branths solid all season
in defense and the odd goal with the second clean sheets in the premier league last season after Arsenal.
Dunk is a proper old school Donkey. 🤣
O'Hara will say anything for a few bob. Iceland sends their best regards.
If Maguire is injured then it makes sense taking dunk over Braithwaite just for experience
Like any squad it has its strengths and weaknesses. The back line with Ashley Cole Terry and Rio was the best.
9 forward players. Southgate going all out before going to Man Utd
Agree, I would have taken 9 defenders, 7 midfielders, 7 forwards.
Best England squad. Jamie has had a knock on the head.
Yeah gerrard scholes lampard Terry Rooney beckham Ferdinand seamen cole Neville Owen overrated..
“in the last minute of the semi finals” will be hilarious when they go out in the quarters😂😂😂😂
😂All I see is just bunch of overhyped mid to decent players nothing more 😂
English PR mannn! 😂🤦
Rent free!
I think Trent will make more of a difference than Palmer to be honest, but it does depend who we are playing.
Trent is only there because Southgate's been pressured by the woke media. He's sloppy on the ball & I watch every LFC game at least once. Check out how Liverpool's season fell off a cliff as soon as Trent returned to the side when he recovered from injury..
@@ph8077 blah blah blah
Best squad 😂😂
France have two players for each spot. A third side in reserve!
@@finfog4590 Well that team only lost wc finals on shootout even with half of therevfirst team injured.
@@vatsalsingh1555that was mostly all mbappe. Argentina outplayed them pretty much the entire match
@@yocool9883 true tho it wasn't only him but others substitutes like camavinga coman thuram as well
Squad is strong.
Madness!
I'm telling you people. We will win the euros. This is one of most exciting team England ever had. And our odd of winning is off the roof.
But wokegate is the manager
still won't be enough to beat the refs
We look really light in defence. The midfield and attack are great. But I can't see us coping against the top teams
England always have the best players but like to exit early
Spain 2008-2012?
Best overall record in recent tournaments, semi, final, quarterfinal.
That kind of suggests that they don't have the best players just over hyped ones.
I thought it was Ricky Gervais talking footy .Not kidding
Trippier, Walker, Stones, Ezri Konsa will made 4 defending be solid.
Something is wrong in the world when Jamie O'Hara is on youtube and he isnt clashing with someone about something
The key is to get a winning combination on the pitch out of these players. That’s on southgate
Soooooooo nervous and excited at the same time
Southgate has picked players on form in the attack and midfield but then he still would have picked Maguire without the injury and Dunk hasn't been in form. Branthwaite would have been perfect as there's not enough height at the back!
Jamie O' Hara, take a bow. What a take. Probably the only guy who made the most sense 🙃
Genuinely sound geezer as well
It is nice e to see 4 Palace players picked,
If England don’t somehow mess up in the group stages ( and not win it) then it should be an easy road to the semis where they’ll probably face France. In a rematch of the World Cup Quarter-final, this could be the match of the tournament. My bet would be on France to get through mostly because of the difference in Managers.
JAMIE OHARA SAID THAT DECLAN RICE IS WORLD CLASS HAHAHAH
I wouldn't start Bellingham upfront, I'd rather start a proper No_10 ( Foden) and start a proper winger on the left Bellingham/Gallager and Rice in Midfield.
wheres all the 'he always picks the same players' crowd
Now moaning about Braithwaite
Germany: Rudiger and Tah. France: Saliba/Konate and Upamecano
Portugal: Ruben Dias and Danilo Pereira
Stones and Guehi don’t fill me with a lot of confidence.
Best set of attacking players ever yes, you could argue that but defensively absolutely no way.
England win Euros and Arsenal win the Premier League. Screenshot that
