Gosh it's absolutely horrendous that poor girl, and people who try to insist to doctors they feel so ill are just disregarded still to this day 😢
My 15 month old son died 22 years ago. april just gone, and he died from meningococcal septicemia he was seen by the gp 7 hours before he died. My doctor told me it was a virus which was making him sick and told me to take him home and give him calpol. That was at 12 noon, and my son died by 7 pm that night. This brings back so many memories. I am so sorry for the families loss. 💔💔💔😭😭
I am sorry to hear that Emma. May you find some peace in due time in the knowledge that your little boy is at peace - his soul lives on - and one day you will be fully reunited with him. In the meantime know that he is still with you each day in a special and very real way, not merely a memory.
@@GordonSou thank you very much. Beautiful words.
Oh Emma i am so so sorry for your loss😥😥😥😥
So sorry for your loss. Its a terrifying infection and is definitely not caused by a virus! My little grandson had viral meningitis. He was admitted into hospital too and antiviral intravenous meds were given. He made a full recovery.
@wendymae2286 Thank you so much ❤️ ❤️
WHY not give antibiotics just in case? What an absolute tragic waste. I'm so sorry for this family. NHS is not working well overall. As a non-EU citizen, I'm guessing a big part of the problem is funding and best practice issues -- like not giving antibiotics automatically. The doctor that refused to be given antibiotics and arrogantly misdiagnosed the red spots should definitely be sued.
He will have professional indemnity (medical malpractice) insurance. Won't have a bright career and will have to live with his conscience. More to the point, is this the criminal offence of manslaughter - behaviour so reckless of the consequences that it caused her death. All the others should be held accountable according to degree of culpability.
Because giving out antibiotics willynilly has caused the surge in antibiotic resistant superbugs currently scything through the population.
It's because there aren't enough doctors.
@@Gooders478 she had a very high fever , extreme body aches , headache , dizziness , vomiting and couldnt walk , that is hardly "willynilly" .
smdh
Not working well, that's an understatement!
Mia's parents deserve answers . Mia's case should get a full enquiry into the failings that led to mia's tragic death . Professionals should be held to account
i am 68 yrs of age back in 1973 i was suffering with what i and my family thought was asian flu which was raging at the time it got worse and i went to my gp while i was in the waiting room i collapsed after being checked over my doctor phoned my parents and told them he wanted them to take me to the hospital immediately he didn`t even want to wait for an ambulance to arrive. on arrival at the hospital i was seen to right away thanks to the speedy action of my gp i believe my life was saved. but in this young ladies case the opposite has happened its a disgrace,.on top of the sorrow, these parents are rightly outraged and deserve to have their case to be heard and those responsible to be held to account
I begged for antibiotics for my 8 year old now she has arthritis in her legs absolutely shocking the doctors just ignore anything you tell them.
I am so sorry, I grew up sickly.
I suffer from pain from 8 y.o. til now. I'm 54now
My heart breaks for those poor parents
If there is a protocol and it was broken in this case then the Dr's should face disciplinary action. This is malpractice.
Unfortunately says it all about NHS, needs a complete overhaul as not effective and NOT fit for purpose in its current structure
Has anyone tried to ring an ambulance lately? You can't get through?! I'm genuinely scared now. If your poor you are as good as done
Yeah I was told an ambulance would take up to 4 hours, it took 16 hours to come. I'm 73 and had a fractured hip. I did get seen pretty quick once I was in hospital xray, a ct scan, given pain relief. Was sent home in the evening with paracetamol lol. I had a superior public ramus fracture which takes about 6 to 8 weeks to heal. Also I had a fractured wrist.
I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. Thank you for campaigning and raising awareness in your beautiful daughter's name ❤️
I hope to God they sue the hospital. It is clearly manslaughter, please find the energy to pursue this claim. Please accept my condolences.
I believe you are right. Especially the doctor who later insisted on refusal to deliver antibiotics - his behaviour seems clearly to have been thoroughly reckless about its consequences.
I’m pretty certain they are, I went to primary school with Mia and from what I’ve heard they’re very likely to win against frimley park hospital, my mate went in to hospital not long after Mia’s death and it took him 5 days to be tested for meningitis, only reason they did was due to his brother being a doctor himself
Then the NHS have even less money and staff, increase the chances of it happening more
Heart. Breaking. Another symptom of a broken health system
Having been under the NHS since birth (:1988) I’ve definitely noticed a huge shift in the level of care patients receive. Back then the common response was to ‘over- react’ but now it’s swung dangerously the other way with doctors ‘under-reacting’……..and I’d like to know why!
Is this all due to a lack of funding?
Are staff being quietly encouraged to limit the care provided to patients in order to lower treatment costs? Because there’s no good reason why so many people failed to diagnose it was meningitis.
Personally, I’ve noticed how it’s harder to access specific treatment now, even the ones recommended by a physician.
Whatever the root cause, cases like this have to stop.
"Is this all due to a lack of funding? "
What lack of funding? Its annual budget is £170 BILLION.
It’s also the growth in population too.
@jimmoynahan9910
Only a few billion short of what it actually costs to run the NHS effectively
@jennychurchill2716
Exactly, that’s so true. Thank you for adding that.
Yet so often mentioning the phrase ‘over population’ triggers a barrage of hate!
@MoonlightForest - Yes. Due to them, NHS, stating they are worried about antibiotic resistance, they refuse to give antibiotics, claiming they can find nothing wrong with you. My 82 year old dad had a UTI, he was told by his GP to go to A&E as he had a UTI. A&E said he had nothing wrong with him, and didn't give him any medication. They gave no guidance and just left it at that - nothing wrong So, we had to home-treat.
I had a severe infection that I knew I needed strong antibiotics for, yet I was also told I had nothing wrong with me. I had to contact a previous medical department in a different county, to ask what I had before. I then had to contact my GP and request them to write me a prescription for the antibiotics I desperately needed. It is absolutely shameful how they are blatantly REFUSING to give antibiotics. Also especially when it is a known fact the elderly d*e from UTIs every day.
My brother died from pneumonia 2 days after seeing the doctor and being told he had a flu
We had a very similar experience with our at the time 8 year old daughter. She couldn’t walk, was delirious, high temps, in pain, vomiting eyes rolling in her heads…. It went on for 10 days, I took her to hospital a hand full of of times and every time was made to feel I was over reacting, I said to the doctor, what am I supposed to do when an 8 year old has lost the ability to use her legs, she also had a red rash on her legs. It turned out she had myositis, and it has now turned into a long term immune system response… saying everything is “just a virus” is ridiculous, especially when Covid was “just a virus” and we shut down the whole would out of apparent fear? Suddenly viruses are no problem?
Oh thats awful !! My 6 year old grandson had myosotis 10 days ago after being given tamiflu for Swine flu. He couldn't walk but it was apparently caused by the meds and not the virus. He seems fine again atm
My daughter passed away 3 years ago i was gutted
This is just so tragic.
That health system needs sueing for their incompetence.
Heartbreaking 😢 sorry for your loss 😢
How sad what a shame, why would the doctor's want to take the risk you hear about this more and more they need to be more vigilant 19 year olds can get serious sick. Should be more punishments for this going forward.
😢 so sad she couldn't be saved
I am getting ever increasingly worried about the NHS, many people are getting very poor treatment and many are scared that they're only seen as a number and there's a decent chance they may not come out of these hospitals alive.
I was told by a GP directly that they deal in percentages and the chance that its something serious is small but in cases like this it costs lives
The amount of times this happens in the NHS is mental. My best friend went in with a bad back, 9 months 3 separate trips to a&e multiple GP appointments and only pain killers and stretches were prescribed, he went for 1 private health check and was immediately sent for a further testing to conclude he had been suffering sciatica. You wonder why a system gets clogged imagine clearing your plug hole back into the running water that’s coming back down the plug hole, of course it will black up eventually because you’re never dealing with the issue.
Dr Amir is man of intrgrity
Those poor parents have suffered. My condolences to them. This should never have happened. RIP MIA
She was a beauty so sorry for her families loss just heartbreaking
Dr thought my son had chickenpox. He left for 3 days came back and went to hospital with meningitis 😢
This is absolutely shocking! What is this countries health care system coming too! Rip Mia ❤
A viral infection does not last for days and if a temperature is persistent and increasing over days then the alarm bells should be ringing to consider something more serious ie bacterial infection. Do sad
A viral infection can last up to 10 days.
What a shame
Something very similar happened in Ireland about 2 years ago..very tragic 😢
Shouldn't be happening 😮💨
So sad to hear this story.... the 'it's just a...' line so often heard from doctors is impossible to understand. I once had a young piano teacher colleague who went to his doctor complaining of chronic thirst and got the 'it's just a virus' line - he died a few days later from undiagnosed diabetes. Even a lay person would say 'get a diabetes test'!
VERY hard to hear but not surprising with our incompetent HEALTH system in GREAT BRITIAN?
The only people who know about loved ones are the people who live with them...my mother and father were both mis -diagnosed.
Heartbreaking
So tragic. Mum please don’t feel guilty, you were not at fault. Something similar happened with my dad x
I'm fed up with the NHS doctors they always getting it wrong I kept going to doctors because I couldn't breath with any more than four steps kept on complaining because my OBS were fine when sitting they ignored me and because I have mental health issues all they kept saying we will refer to mental health what's that got to with it they thought was all in my head and year later of keep going back I'm now got heart failure I feel for the family r.i.p sweet angel and god bless the family
My bleeding blood vessels in my brain was referred to as blips by my doctor following a suspected TIA I later found out I have cerebral deceased. This was down to not having my diabetes controlled, I’d been begging my doctors to refer me to a diabetic clinic. It was refused because I wasn’t taking the maximum tablet dosage as was the guidelines from NHS. I paid to see a private endocrinologist who said I should have been on insulin 3 years prior. Doctors just don’t listen to patients anymore.
People complain about the conditions in hospital. The reality is they are the place you go to die.
I’m not a Dr and I recognise those symptoms as worrying,
That is horrible so sad to young to die.
Blood tests would reveal what was wrong with her too. Why does NHS not do blood tests automatically? Even if they charge for the test . I am sure cost stops NHS from getting accurate diagnoses. My mother.s sister died of this virus. That was in 1912. She was 4 years old.
The whispering in the background, so unprofessional and disrespectful.
bom dia todos admiro muito esse programa esta imperdível
😢😢
So so sad 😪😪😪
Sometimes perhaps you have to consider getting to a different hospital asap for a separate diagnosis.
That is horrible..
This is shocking you hear about things like this all the time nobody will pay for this in the end they will all get to keep there jobs and the outcome of this will be the same old cheesy line" lessons will be learnt from this "....What a beautiful young girl life ahead of her who wasn't taken seriously, yet again blood on there hands...
Half of these doctors are not even qualified.
I don’t understand the cavalier attitude of staff in the NHS, is it because it’s a “free” service ? I don’t want to go there but I’m leaning more towards privatisation of the NHS maybe only then can staff be personally held accountable for their actions.
NHS should be banned!
May I ask what hospital this was x
Terrible! Heartbreaking!
I would like to know what was done to the doctors and medical staff who seemed not to know what they were doing!!
I would have wanted to hear that there wasmore focus on promoting fail-proof medical systems, better trained A&E staff and doctors, and general knowledge to medics and the public!
Didn't she have her meningitis vaccine?
The parents said that their children had the vaccinations as children. The issue about teenagers is a new issue with calls to bring this to public attention.
So sad . Mia had her future ahead of her . Her parents are so brave . Her parents and Dr Amir are raising important awareness on this topic . I feel like some Doctors are over worked and they get tired . The level of care is not up to a high standard. This tragedy should never happen to anyone again. My thoughts and prayers are with Mia's Family ❤
❤
Awful
Sadly this is becoming the norm with doctors you have to fight for treatment so sad for the family it's not right my mum had to fight for me when I got leukaemia for second time doctor kept dismissing my symptoms my mum demanded a blood test and it was leukaemia again this was many years ago it's wrong but sadly by a getting worse🇬🇧
So here we are...that is the medical standard in Europe by now...good night humanity...R.I.P beautiful soul....Same over here in germany actually...the health system is a desaster...u need an appointement?...write an email (u almost can´t reach a doctor anymore just by phone)...get an appointement in 3 month or later!...That is the new pathetic normal...
She was pretty. What a shame.
Proving they not adequately staffed easy to pass ot all off as a viral need to educate better 😢 need to do process of illimination never rule anything out ❤
Garraway is so so so bad at interviewing
Totally agree. It was unnecessary for her to interrupt the parent when they were explaining their experience.
But if you are that bad that you have to be put in a wheelchair sorry but that is disgusting how she was treated. Is it not better to give antibiotics just to be on the safe side. I would be even happy to pay for the antibiotics
Caroline started her health problems after a drink driving accident.
😮
What's the relevance of this? There is no Caroline in this story.
