I love it when metalheads or other rock music fanatics try and listen to kpop as someone who listens to both rock and kpop it makes me very happy ahaha.
Prin Ren TS I can relate! I'm not entirely sure how I stumbled into kpop since I listen to mostly rock and metal, but I love both so seeing metalheads and other rock fans reacting to it makes me happy too!
The cool thing about Day6 is that 4 out of 5 members are AMAZING vocalists. Usually, western bands only have one lead singer and the others just play instruments. But this is not the case with Day6 ❤
True! Actually bands all over the world I feel usually have one or two vocalists and often when they have two, one is a main vocalist and the other sings a bit less. McFly is a four member band and they have three very different and very beautiful vocals. However, Dougie, who is one of the vocals, isn't AS good and AS active as Danny and Tom, who are much more at the forefront as vocalists and carry most of the songs.
yeah they write like all of their own music. Last year they did this really cool project called EveryDay6 where on the 6th of each month they released one new song and music video and usually a second song as well. Part of the reason why they said they did it was kind of as a songwriting exercise. Having a deadline forced them to write more and try to be more creatively diverse. It was really awesome to have music from one of my favorite bands every month and even though not EVERY song was a masterpeice I'd say 80%of the time they knocked it out of the park. They improved a lot over the last year...even thought they were always pretty great
You mentioned my comment in this video yay!!!! I feel helpful!! 😊 Here’s some more info: Ftisland, Cnblue, Nflying, Day6 And The Rose are the main bands in kpop. Day6 and The Rose are the newest as they debuted in 2015/2017. Ftisland, CNblue and Nflying are from FNC. A small company that brought bands to the mainstream in kpop. Among the 5, FTisland makes the hardest music. All the bands in kpop write their own songs btw!! As far as suggestions go I’d suggest I Wait by Day6 since it’s the hardest song I can think of by them. As for Ftisland I’d go for “Pray” bc it’s pretty hard and Nflying ”Hot potato”, it’s not that hard but it’s a cool song and mv lol
Gus McArthur also there are I.Z., The Trax, Lunafly, LedApple, Buzz, Noel, Nell, and you should definitely check out FTISLAND especially their Japanese mvs just be careful Japan is super strict about copyright
Day6 member Youngk has written almost all their lyrics with a few written by other members. Composition wise- the 4 members co-compose with 1-2 professional composers in a varying manner, like some just Day6 does others they visit the professional composer/s and compose together. So literally speaking they take part in the composition of all their songs but I don't know to what degree do their input gets in the ones the do with composers- from what I have followed many songs esp Korean ones they talked about in interviews about how they came up with the chorus music or the hook part.So in a way yes they take part in lyrics and composing for all their songs. Everything beyond that (like the arrangement and I guess going through the finished sound mixing done by the engineer - like the final product is done by music producer. Under KOMCA/Korea Music Copyright Association they have lyrical and composition copyrights to all their songs.
Day6 has a lot of Maroon5, The Script, and Coldplay influences. As for 'Heavy' songs by them.... I'd say "I need somebody", "I Wait", "If~また会えたら~"(If~We Meet Again~), and "Stop the Rain". Their Japanese songs are much heavier and on 7/25 they're releasing their first Japanese album which is going to have a heavier side. FNC bands tend to be heavier while Day6 is more emotional. There isn't much heavy rock music in Korean since Koreans generally like smooth music. Acoustic and ballad songs are really popular from my experience....EDM, hiphop, r&b, house, retro, and reggae are really popular too...
Gus McArthur Most Korean rock bands are in the vain of Indie in Kpop. You can find bands doing variety shows or just music videos on Korean Indie YT channels. EVE, The Rose, Marmello, HÜ, Gogostars, theknoxx, Hyukoh and Bursters.
Also there’s a lot of comments saying check out Japanese rock instead. I definitely agree. You probably won’t find a band in kpop that is necessarily your style but Jrock goes waaay harder. You’d be surprised.
They said a lot of people have been asking for Band Maid (myself included) so they are thinking of checking them out. If you guys see this, check out Band Maid. They go hard.
Yeah I agree but im interested cause all the kpop songs they reacted to so far except ddudduddu are rock influenced is that on purpose orr cause I wold give them some more poppy song to react to to see other kpop
For Day6 specifically they've had a hand in writing & composing all of their music and Young K (the bassist) writes almost all their lyrics. They're all between 23-26 years old and have been together and performing publicly since 2015, but had an extensive training period before that so they've been together for a while. They are under a label though, technically still JYP Entertainment like you said but they're actually signed under Studio J which is the part of the label that produces its singer-songwriters and less pop/idol focused music. Everyone sings besides the drummer (sometimes he has some backup vocals though), and the bassist also raps sometimes. Some of their harder songs would probably be I Wait & How Can I Say, but Congratulations, Hunt, Warning, Be Lazy & Colors all have really cool elements that I think show off their talent. Dance Dance, Freely, and I'm Serious are all really fun and upbeat so probably not as much your style but they're still great songs. Sorry for typing out an actual essay though omg. Excited to see what you guys choose to react to next! (N.Flying, FTIsland, and South Club are also really good bands)
Sydney Hopp No worries at all, it's a lot to take in! Thank you very much for the info we appreciate it!! JYP seems to be behind so many artists, we have been told they are one of the big three, but it seems neverending lol Thanks, we will add them to our list!!
Awesome! And if you're gonna look into N.Flying their recent stuff has been very poppy because they added another vocalist to their lineup and he has a way different style then their original vocalist. So I'd recommend Awesome (their debut song with only 4 members), and The Real (their first release with the new vocalist).
you can't have a conversation about k rock without mentioning hyukoh. they are a former indie k rock band that made it big in korea. listen to tomboy or wanli.
If you want some heavier Korean rock check out Drug Restauraunt "Mistake" or "OMG." ..."OMG" might actually pop up as the JJY Band. same band they just changed their name. It's not actually a kpop band which just means they don't have that idol look, were formed more organically, and are a little less...'PG' lol :P
yes! Joon Young is gorgeous! I'm just a huge fan of him in general. He's the one who got me watching 2D1N and now I'm on episode 310 of season 3 (the ones he's a member in). and each episode is like an hour and a half long. ...like I am long term invested and that's why I want to share his music because I know that's what he loves first
They 3 years old, debuted in 2015. I would recommend songs like I Wait, How can I say, I need Somebody, Man in a Movie, and Stop the Rain. Also their song Warning, check that out
I'm so glad you checked them out. Please check out FT Island as well! They are an amazing band that's been around for a while and their lead singer Lee Hong Ki has a very unique and passionate voice. He's also an actor I would suggest FT Island's Love Love Love and a really great one is Severely (it's my personal fave and has a great mv) You can also check out CN Blue as well.
Oh gosh! This made me so happy! And two of the most heavy songs are Stop The Rain and How Can I Say! I'm so happy you reacted to them! Especially because I listen to both rock and kpop and Day6 is two in one! They're awesome, you're awesome. Thanks for this video!
Fun fact: many members of K-rock bands have delved into acting careers as well. For example FT Islands Lee Hongki, NFlyings Seunghyub, Drug Restaurant Jung Joonyoung, CNBlue Jonghyun are notable for acting in korean dramas and movies.
i don't know if anyone's mentioned them yet, but an amazing k-indie rock band to check out is eastern sidekick. their mv for "teeth and sweat" would be my first suggestion. another band is guckkasten, they're easily one of the best rock bands in korea and will be right up your alley. the lead singer ha hyun woo has the most insane voice. check out their mv for "montage". other bands worth listening to: drug restaurant, nell (they're on the quieter side, but still incredible), the koxx - "사랑춤", thornapple - "blue spring", hyukoh - "wanli". some of those don't have mvs, and i don't expect you to react to any of this lol, i just hope you listen and enjoy :) side note: generally it's pretty rare to find harder stuff from the more mainstream companies like sm, yg, bighit, or jyp. dreamcatcher is about as heavy as it gets as far as rock oriented music or concepts at the moment. although day6 is one of my favorite groups because they're so versatile as musicians and vocalists and i really do hope you listen to more of their music. keep on keepin' on, you guys are great.
Loved the reaction! Also Day6 came out in late 2015. If you want some heavier rock Day6's Japanese releases tend to be heavier so I suggest checking out Stop The Rain by Day6. However they do a variety of sounds. Also FTIsland is another KRock band that has a heavier style such as their songs Take Me Now, Pray, and Shadow that I think you'll enjoy a lot. Also Stray Kids is a fairly new K-pop group however they've shown a lot of rock influences in their songs such as Awaken and District 9 Also Stray
Happy to be here & witness your journey into kpop and beyond! Check out Hyukoh, which is a korean indie band. I recommend 2 of their songs, Leather Jacket & Wanli
I really like you guys because you guys really give the music genre the best chance. Moreover, you guys understand the genres well. These kinds of channels are hard to find now a days.
If you want heavier K-rock I would suggest Ftisland (their heaviest songs would probably be pray or take me now) or drug restaurants song mistake. Ftisland is my personal favorite K-rock band (their main vocal is insane) day6, The Rose, and N.flying coming in close second.
day6 are a "idol" band, but they do write their own music. I think that shoot me is probably the most pop release that they done in a while. "how can I say" and "I Wait" go a little bit harder. I think korea has great indie rock such as hyukoh and so se neon, if that's your cup of tea, u can give a try
Day6 is more of a K-pop-rock band. If you want to hear a K-band with more of a rock feel I would recommend FT Island. However, this is not to say FT Island doesn't also have some very poppy songs, but FT Island's lead vocalist has a very epic rocker voice and there is no mistaking their rock sound. I would recommend songs like "Take Me Now" by FT Island if you want to hear that harder rock sound. K-pop is just like western music, in America it would be called A-pop if we labeled it the same way. There are just as many different genres and styles of music in Korea as their are in Western music. K-pop is just the label used for any popular Korean music. So really there are numerous styles: K-hip hop, K-rock, K-Indy, K-ballad, K-R&B, K-Jazz, K-reggae, K-metal, Trot (which is most closely like country music), boy groups, girl groups, duets, solo artists of every kind, and even a select few co-ed groups (however, this is a little more rare). So no matter what kind of music you are in to there is almost certainly a Korean artist or group that you will like. Seven member group are about average in Kpop but groups can range any where from duos to as large as 15 members. And that's not to mention there are numerous solo artists as well. And to answer your question, like 98 percent of Korean groups, bands included, no the members did not know each other before they were put in the group by their company. All the members of Kpop groups or bands were trainees in their companies and they were put together to form the group. In some cases a trainee would be selected for a band instead of put in a Kpop group because they are better at playing an instrument than they are dancing. Often members of K-bands say they were put in the band because they were good at playing an instrument but they aren't very good at dancing. To be put in a Kpop group you have to be able to dance as well as sing and/or rap. Most of the time groups are formed by their companies (or what the western industry would call record labels). These kids train for years most of the time from a really young age, some as young as 10 years old, all in the hopes of becoming a kpop star. Much like a modeling agency, a Kpop company selects their trainees in one of two ways, either through the scouting process of having an agent see them on the street and ask them if they would be interested in auditioning or by attending an audition put on by the company in order to recruit new talent. Korean music companies hold auditions and Asian children from all over the world attend these auditions hoping to be selected by the company to start the training program. If a company sees potential in someone they are then selected to become a trainee in the company's training program -- however, this does not necessarily mean they will ever be allowed to debut or become a Kpop star, this is only a chance for them to train in the company and for the company to see if they have potential to make it as an entertainer. Trainees spend years training in dance, singing, public speaking, foreign languages, acting, modeling etc. (Like i said, you can't be a part of a Kpop group without at least having some skill in dance, as well as being able to sing and/or rap, but not everyone is put in a group, some trainees become solo artists or are put in bands.. It all depends on a person's skill level and what they are good at.) The amount of time someone spends as a trainee depends on how talented someone is. On average a kpop star trains from 2-7 years before they even step foot on stage. After some time, if they are lucky, the company decides a trainee is ready to become a member of a group. To create a group a company selects several trainees adding and subtracting members until they find the right dynamic and the mix of vocals, dance and visual talent (or in the case of bands, the right mix of musicians, vocalists and visual talent) they are looking for to satisfy whatever concept they are going for with the new group. Once a group is put together, the group then spends several more months or years training together. Members of Kpop groups live, work and train together 24/7, so their group members become more like family than their own families. Once a company decides a group is ready they are allowed to debut and finally become an official Kpop group -- they are given a name and a style and concept is given to them, they are given their first song and official choreography to go with the song and they begin appearing on variety shows, on music programs and they release their first music video and promotional content. The dedication and perfection you see is what makes Kpop so epic. Most Kpop groups have some members who are foreigners. Some Kpop groups have members who are Chinese, Japanese or Thai (from Thailand) or members who are Korean-American, Korean-Australian, Korean-Canadian, Taiwanese-American, Chinese-American, Chinese-Canadian, etc. Many trainees come to Korea not knowing a word of Korean and they have to learn to be fluent in Korean. Kpop stars are also expected to study English, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese, as well as a number of other foreign languages. All Kpop groups not only release songs and albums in Korean, but most also have albums in Mandarin Chinese and/or Japanese so they need to be proficient in both Mandarin and Japanese as well. Kpop artist are always working. On top of all they have to do as a member of a group or a solo artist to promote their music, they also all have side projects. Most Idols are not only singers and dancers but they also are musicians, composers, song writers, lyricists, TV and movie actors, stage actors, models, radio DJs/ hosts, variety show hosts/MCs and/or authors, etc. Most idols spend 20 hours a day working and training in all aspects of the entertainment industry. There really is no down time when you are an Idol -- even on the rare occasions when they get to take a "vacation" their downtime is usually recorded for a reality TV or internet program and camera's follow them around to capture it all.
Thanks for reacting to Day6! Yes, they (mostly Young K, their bassist) write the lyrics to their songs while they take part in the composing(?) part most of the time. They debuted in 2015 with "Congratulations" and debuted in Japan last March 2018 with "If ~また逢えたら~". They're only on their third year as a debuted band this September 2018 but they already have 50 songs in total (excluding their unreleased songs and final/rebooted versions) so there's a lot of gems hidden in their discography, which is why they're often dubbed as "the group/band with no bad songs" with the tagline "Trust and Listen to Day6". They had a project called "Every Day6" last 2017, wherein they released a single every month for the whole year. They mainly have emotional and sentimental songs, but for you guys I would like to recommend their Japanese singles "If ~また逢えたら~" and "Stop The Rain" + "I Wait" (Every Day6 January title track), "How Can I Say" (Every Day6 March title track), "I Need Somebody" (Every Day6 October side track), and "Pouring" (Every Day6 November side track)
Yeah, they write their own song mostly with co songwriter called collapsedone. They debuted in 2015, and last year they had project called Every DAY6 project where they released 2 songs each month. Wish you check all of their discography, especially last year :) Make sure to check not only the title track, but also B Side, because they produce songs with various genre of music. Anyway, thank you so much for reacting to DAY6 :)
So basically theyre a korean rock band debuted in 2015. Theyre currently under jyp entertainment. Shoot me is their 3rd mini album. all of them are good vocalists and also have different types of vocals. They have 2 guitarists (2 of them are also vocalists) sometimes they split up to play the melody and the other one plays the rhythm. (Which is good they can fill each other in) 1 bassist known as the songwriter of the group, he also a rapper of the group. He wrote the lyrics for all of day6's songs. He took a part for composing the songs sometimes arranging the songs too along with the other members. A keyboardist, he plays a synth too, he sings so well not only for rock songs but also for ballad songs. A drummer, the youngest one and currently learn to sing he takes a vocal lesson, has a very very deep voice. Plays drum since he was young, so you can say that he is a skillful drummer All of the members always help for the melodies of their songs, sometimes the lyrics along with the bassist. Thats all the basic thing that i could help tell. Sorry if its confusing but thanks for reacting to them💓
one of the members write basically all of the lyrics and they definitely contribute a lot to the composition, so yes they’re very involved in the making of the music but have helpers and everything to arrange as many do
1. Yes, they write their own songs, the bassist is the main lyricist 2. they've been together for about 8yrs(?) including trainee days 3. Two of them are fluent in English~! They have also covered a lot of english songs :) 4. FOR HEAVIER GENRE, please listen to their songs: - "STOP THE RAIN", -"IF ~MATA AETARA~" (If we meet again) -"I WAIT", and -"HOW CAN I SAY", You can also try listening to "WARNING" which is heavier in my opinion, but it doesn't have an MV but it's available on itunes and Spotify. Thank you for giving a try to listen to DAY6 :)
DAY6 debuted September 2015, and they have released around 50 songs to date, all self or co written and self or co composed by the members. They recently debuted in Japan and their japanese songs are heavier, especially Stop The Rain, you might want to check that out😊
Hey dudes! How are you enjoying your kpop journey so far? Who is on your to watch list? hope you are both having a great day, weather has been ace in the UK x
we've been surprised how much we actually have enjoyed the groups that we've reacted to so far! Its far more interesting than the pop we get in the states. some of the groups like Dreamcatcher even seem to verge on being a rock group, something thats not really done with pop in the US. we have so many groups on our list for future videos! the comments section is filled with so many suggestions haha. Thank you! and i hope you have a great day as well :)
Gus McArthur - it's the same as the UK, I think a lot of people do hear "kpop" and box it in but it's so much more than that, It's also really interesting for me seeing how artists from other cultures represent their genres, do you like Rammstein or Babymetal?
Day6 has 5 members: Jae (AKA Chicken Little, but don't call him that he denies the obvious) - lead guitar, vocalist, rapper Sungjin - leader, rythm guitar, vocalist Young K (AKA Brian, but don't call him that... well, even he forgets sometimes that he's stage name is Young K)- bassist, vocalist, rapper Wonpil - synthesizer, keyboard, vocalist Dowoon - drums. They were formed by JYP Entertainment (One of the Big3 companies). They do compose and write their own music and lyrics. They even self-record the sound effects (like cykadas etc.) that they include in their tracks. Their sound is more on the emotional side, but they do sometimes something heavier. In 2017 they had a project called "Every Day6" and every month they released a single that consisted of 2 tracks - one promoted with the music video and the other as B-side track. Later these tracks was included on their albums SUNRISE (first half of the year) and MOONRISE (second half of the year). My favourirte songs by DAY6: "How Can I Say" - ua-cam.com/video/dwywhL1PenQ/v-deo.html "What Can I Do" - ua-cam.com/video/4RJWqIEo_Tc/v-deo.html "Dance Dance" - ua-cam.com/video/NAW0idSQ6Zs/v-deo.html "Better Better" - ua-cam.com/video/Mi5LSZods3Y/v-deo.html "I Need Somebody" (AKA Nugunga Piryohae) - ua-cam.com/video/j-TcFt2OVSw/v-deo.html "Letting Go" band practice - ua-cam.com/video/yYYFVJwSiZQ/v-deo.html "I Wait" (Ah Wae in Korean means Oh, why? so they sang it like this sometimes as a play on words, this is also the Korean Title) - ua-cam.com/video/O3nFopIjmjI/v-deo.html
Day6 member Youngk has written almost all their lyrics with a few written by other members. Composition wise- the 4 members co-compose with 1-2 professional composers in a varying manner, like some just Day6 does others they visit the professional composer/s and compose together. So literally speaking they take part in the composition of all their songs but I don't know to what degree do their input gets in the ones the do with composers-from what I have followed many songs esp Korean ones they talked about in interviews about how they came up with the chorus music or the hook part. So in a way yes they take part in lyrics and composing for all their songs. Everything beyond that (like arrangement and I guess going through the finished sound mixing done by the engineer - like the final product is done by music composer. Under KOMCA/Korea Music Copyright Association they have lyrical and composition copyrights to all their songs. This is an excerpt from Day6 interview abt the process: _"So, composers have a work setting called a song camp. This is where songwriters come together to make a song. We make all our songs like this. We'll either bring a track or an idea and the other side will do the same and we just grind it out. Most of our songs are made in one or two sessions of this. It's a fun process. We collaborate with our songwriters. Members write songs and lyrics. We sketch out ideas along with a track and boil down good ones among them. We are making songs in the process of exchanging opinions with composers."_ Day6 isn't a hard rock band they have been try varying styles like alternative/punk/pop/indie genre/ballad rock and even they do acoustic- centric music with guitar and Cajon. They don't do heavy metal at all,I don't think will ever. From what I believe they have 2 target audiences: Koreans -who love ballad/acoustic/indie genre and International Kpop fans -majority who like alternative/punk/pop with some who also like ballad, so their styles fluctuate as they experiment. The hardest degree of rock Day6 has done are : Warning!, IF, Stop The Rain, I Wait, How Can I Say.
JYP, SM, and YG are the biggest companys and they started off as trainees that the ceo puts together. They debuted in 2016 and the youngest i believe is 20-21 and the oldest i think is 24-25. Members are Sungjin, Young K, And jae all play guitar wonpil plays keyboard and Dowoon on the drums.
"i wait" and "how can i say" are their more heavier title track songs (also their japanese songs; "stop the rain" and "if we meet again"👌👌) but ofc all their songs are BRILLIANT. "how can i say" and "i need somebody" (coughjapanesesongsajxncmdk) are my personal favorite songs by them and i highly await another reaction by you guys💓💓. much love💞💞!!
Their heaviest songs are probably "I Wait" and "How Can I Say". For harder rock or at least not so much pop rock, I recommend Guckkasten, Hyukoh, FTisland, Drug Restaurant, NELL, and CN Blue's older stuff, all the shade when I say their latest songs sound like they made the effort to edit the instruments out.
the bass player Young K/Brian writes DAY6's music mostly and if you want to listen to more songs like this song i recommend stop the rain its one of their japanese songs and i wait is also really good
day6 has a japanese song called dont stop the rain, in japan they enjoy more heavy rock so they changed their sound in that release to match the demographic, check it out i fu havent already !!
i recommend listening to how can i say and i wait (they both have music videos) also since theyre considered a soft rock kind of band i dont know if they’ll be heavy enough to your liking plus shoot me is also considered one of their loudest songs haha but nonetheless they do write and make their own songs and are extremely talented please give their work a listen ! thanks for the reaction guys
I know One Ok Rock is japanese, but I think you would like it! It's one of the most popular j-rock bands! Mighty long fall, Deeper deeper, Cry out etc. these are just a few of my favorite songs from them!
my main favourite DAY6 tracks are: 아 왜 (I Wait), 어떻게 말해 (How Can I Say) and 누군가 필요해 (I Need Somebody), there isn't any M/V for the last one but it's an amazing track. Bassist Young K is credited on pretty much every song for lyric writing and composing on their music. On their last 3 albums Young K did pretty much all the song lyrics.
Wonder Girls is a legendary girl group that also plays instruments! Sunmi and Hyuna (from 4minute) is a part of this group, I recommend you Wonder Girls - Why so lonely (but here doesn't appear Hyuna)
Yes, they make their own music since debut (2015), even wrote & compose since predebut, they have some unreleased songs which they only performed on their concerts. I'd probably suggest to check their Japan releases: If~Mata Aetara & Stop The Rain. Thanks anyway 😊
So they're owned by a big kpop idol company called JYP Nation, but usually idols don't play instruments despite most of them being able to, and focus more on visuals and dancing than anything else. But DAY6 does play their own instruments which is why they're often overlooked and slept on in terms of the kpop world comparative to groups owned by the same company like GOT7. They write their own songs, compose them, all play their instruments, and 4 of the 5 are vocalists minus Dowoon (the drummer). I would love it if you guys reacted to their Japanese music, especially the one that just was released called "Stop the Rain." And yes they write their own music, Jae is the main lyricist, but all of them compose and write together. The idol industry is famous for overworking their idols, working really hard a key part of Korean culture in general. Groups like EXO, owned by SM Town Entertainment (the most infamous for mistreating their idols), aren't allowed to date, be in relationships, or be involved with others in any way other than friendship. In the case of EXO, two members left because one wasn't allowed to see his family for 7 years straight, and the other was forced to dance on a sprained and poisoned ankle from being on a game show while they're ankle was injured. For years kpop idols aren't allowed to have their own schedules, they usually practice dancing for about 4 hours everyday, singing, modeling, and acting for the remainder, in addition to working out, strict dieting, for many learning Korean, for some required plastic surgery as a part of their contracts, and get about 3-4 hours a sleep. As trainees, they aren't being paid for the 5+ years before their debut, so they must also work their own part time jobs to make income. Once they debut it's not guaranteed they will succeed and may end up being dropped by companies, in which 5+ years of their lives are wasted. The industry is difficult and rather notorious for being abusive. SM Town is most guilty of this though. JYP, who own the rights to DAY6 are probably the most lenient of the big 3 companies. They allow their idols to do their own things and such, like Jae, the guitarist and blonde vocalist, has his own vlog channel on youtube called JaeSix where he posts memes and really silly videos. Nevertheless the commitment and talent the idols put in is absolutely mind-breaking. If you watch EXO's videos, you'll notice the number of members dwindle over time from 12, to 11, to 10, to 9. But Kris Wu and Z.Tao, the two rappers from EXO, once they left they made their own solo careers as actors, screen writers, rappers, and models. Kris Wu has been in the NBA All-stars twice in addition to working under the label 88Rising with Rich Brian, Joji, etc and has worked with Travis Scott, Keith Ape, etc. Z.Tao has worked with Wiz Khalifa and many more in their solo careers. I can't wait to see more from you guys
WOOT you guys got DAY6! I agree with your FOB comparison, I think that’s really spot on. They do a lot of writing and producing, which I really respect. Their heaviest song is I Want, in my opinion. They showcase more of their technical prowess in that song
I'm so glad you've reacted to what I'm obsessed to lately,, day6 and bts and Dreamcatcher 😭💜 Also there is another idol band called The Rose - Baby, if you would like to watch them too 👍
Ft. Island and CN Blue are both bands that play instruments. There are true metal bands but they are not so called idol band. Boowhal is an older metal band that has had different lead singers but the core members I think have staid the same. Sinawe is another one that I have heard of. There are several others I dont know.
ahhh day6 is so great. i see a lot of recommendations for the rose, and i second all of them! also, check out infinite if you can! all of their title songs are really great (i really recommend 'the eye', 'back', 'bad', or 'tell me'), and they have a more rock-ish song called 'i hate' that doesn't have a music video, but there is a lyric video for it if you want to check it out too!!
You can try their japanese song -Stop the rain.. it's heavier or I Wait and How can i say.. and they write and composed all their songs from debut till now.. they doing a world tour now, maybe you can try listen to their live performance cos their live is MORE LIT.. haha.. thank you for reacting!
They write their own music debuted in 2016 they had 6 members before they debuted but one had to leave the group so they debuted with 5 members and use to go by 5alive btw one of the members brian is Canadian and jar is from long beach.
also i don't know if you know but (usually) in kpop groups/ bands there is someone who's not from korea or is multilingual (english speaker is most common) and in day6 is brian (young k, black hair guitarist) and jae (blue hair) !
as a person that loves both kpop and rock&metal i'm loving your channel! could you check out jrock as well? i'd suggest girugamesh - drain & the gazette - leech. also, there's this amazing hungarian metal band called aws that i'd recommend (check out viszlat nyar from eurovision 2018) :3
In regards to the whole kpop/idol thing it's good to know that there are Korean artists that don't fall into the idol category. Anything 'kpop' is going to have elements of pop. If you're interested though, there are a lot of Korean indie and rock artists that aren't considered idols so they have more room to experiment with their sound.
I like that you guys seem to genuinely pay attention to more than just saying oh its good, B.A.P. has mvs that may have interesting storylines, idk if you will be interested but theyre nice i guess
hi! so i wanted to make a kpop band suggestion! The band is called 2ne1 and its an older band. The songs i thought you guys would like are Don't stop the music and Clap your hands. These are both great songs so if you do want to react to the band 2ne1 pick from those songs! A little snip of history about 2ne1 they debuted in May 2006. This band no longer produces music because they were discontinued in 2016. They were a very popular kpop band and they were called the female version of Big Band another popular band! I hope you will consider listing this band because it has slowly been being forgotten.
They were formed by JYP. They are JYP’s first rock band. They do write their own music. As for heavier music I’m not sure really what to recommend. They have quite a range in their music but you should defo check them out more. In 2017 they released a single on the 6th of every month so there are 12 mvs from 2017 alone. They first debuted in 2015 I think. It could be 2016.
As far as more rock bands go, you should check out N.Flying - The Real, The Rose - Baby, and Drug Restaurant - Mistake (this one has a funny music video imo) I just found your channel today-- and something I've noticed is that it can be hard to hear you talk over the music sometimes, is there a way to turn your mic volume up? Other than that loving the reactions, keep it up
Let me tell you abt stray kids,, they are a rooki group under jyp entertainment,, they make their owm lyric, music, and coreography,, the oldest was born on 1997 and the youngest was born on 2001. They style of music is hiphop with a little bit rock
For day6 -for harder songs I’d suggest I wait, how can I say, warning (B-side track) and Their Japanese songs-stop the rain and if we can meet again. Day6 does more rock ballads so they don’t go as hard , but they definitely have some good music and I hope you check them out more (:
Ft.island is another group that does a little heavier rock (there's cc on 'pray' and 'take me now', so turn them on if you want): *take me now* ua-cam.com/video/WsC0jG1M5jA/v-deo.html *pray* (my favorite) ua-cam.com/video/hFS8HTUNF3I/v-deo.html *shadows* ua-cam.com/video/WHcGnzqUzFU/v-deo.html N.flying is another rock group but they add more of different elements and aren't that heavy rock either (there's also cc): *The real* ua-cam.com/video/WUYzVohEAyE/v-deo.html *how r u today* ua-cam.com/video/n5t0wpWJzkw/v-deo.html
Check out FT Island - Pray Pls! You were looking for more heavier stuff. You will definitely find that when you check out some of FT Island songs. Another Song would be FT Island - Where is the Truth. FT Island is signed under FNC Entertainment and consists of 5 members. FT Island stands for Five Treasure Island. Day6 is pretty young (debut 2015) and FT Island debuted in 2007. So FT Island has much more heavier songs! I hope you like both groups! For Day6 you should check out their Japanese Comeback Day6 - Stop the Rain or Day6 - I Wait!
Another Korean band I recommend you checking out is Drug Restaurant. I really love their songs. This song is called Mistake by drug resturaunt : ua-cam.com/video/WYWCfpNDg28/v-deo.html This is the first song I listened to when I found them and it's one of my favorites. The bands singer, Jung Joonyoung, also has some solo songs as well. This song is called Teenager by JJY: ua-cam.com/video/ZB_js_vt3HY/v-deo.html his has some amazing vocals and I fell in love with this song.
I love it when metalheads or other rock music fanatics try and listen to kpop as someone who listens to both rock and kpop it makes me very happy ahaha.
rock and kpop i love both too yey
Prin Ren TS honestly tho, especially when they react to groups like day6 and dreamcatcher who have that rock sound to them
I love both as well;)
Rock is the main music i listen too and i love Kpop XD I was so happy when i found out about Dreamcatcher and Day 6 is really good too!
But this is not the case with Day6 ❤
Baekhyun, Seulgi & Jungkook s/o to dowoon for his vocals in lean on me 😂
Yass, the reason why I became their fan
True! Actually bands all over the world I feel usually have one or two vocalists and often when they have two, one is a main vocalist and the other sings a bit less.
McFly is a four member band and they have three very different and very beautiful vocals. However, Dougie, who is one of the vocals, isn't AS good and AS active as Danny and Tom, who are much more at the forefront as vocalists and carry most of the songs.
lol 4/5
oh my lord that username-
yeah they write like all of their own music. They improved a lot over the last year...even thought they were always pretty great
lelmDR.WHO? Oh what! That's really cool, that's not an easy task to complete. We will have to look into that, thank you!!
lelmDR.WHO? I loved everyday6
Bro I felt so bad for Brian during that era, he wrote a major amount of the songs they released
You mentioned my comment in this video yay!!!! I feel helpful!! 😊
Here’s some more info: Ftisland, Cnblue, Nflying, Day6 And The Rose are the main bands in kpop.
Thank you! your suggestions are very helpful :)
dont forget HYUKOH , ROYAL PIRATES , NELL
yes
I think rather than I Wait, Day6's japanese singles If~Mata Aetara & Stop The Rain is harder, kindly check them out too if you don't mind 😊
Gus McArthur also there are I.Z., The Trax, Lunafly, LedApple, Buzz, Noel, Nell, and you should definitely check out FTISLAND especially their Japanese mvs just be careful Japan is super strict about copyright
Yes! Day6 writes their own music. Not all the music is written by them. But most of it is :)
Thats cool! at least they are a part of the creative process.
Young K tends to have a big hand in a lot of the songs they put out.
Under KOMCA/Korea Music Copyright Association they have lyrical and composition copyrights to all their songs.
milksomecows What? But it is ALL written by them
it is all written by Day6 themselves but they got help by the JYP producer Collapsdone and Hong Ji Sang in composing some songs & arrangement
The Nintendhoe ok cool, yes we heard the influence in this song. Ok awesome we will definitely be checking out more from DAY6!
Add "How Can I Say" to the list, it's actually one of those alternative rock tracks of DAY6 you'll find yourself liking it before you know.
I defo prefer their japanese songs
you forgot HOW CAN I SAY, that got me into them
id call this more pop rock than rock. Day6 says they are inspired a lot by Brit pop rock bands and do a lot of covers to those kinds of songs
FTisland Take Me Now will definitely suit your tastes. I recommend reacting to them.
Pao R take me now and pray
I've been waiting for this for months haha
Please
Also there’s a lot of comments saying check out Japanese rock instead. I definitely agree. You probably won’t find a band in kpop that is necessarily your style but Jrock goes waaay harder. You’d be surprised.
JENNIE RUBY JANE
I think they already do
They said a lot of people have been asking for Band Maid (myself included) so they are thinking of checking them out.
If you guys see this, check out Band Maid. They go hard.
One Ok Rock
JENNIE RUBY JANE Yeees! They should try BANDMAID's Real Existence
JYP seems to be behind so many artists, we have been told they are one of the big three, but it seems neverending lol
Thanks, we will add them to our list!!
We will make sure to check them out!
r6guy former?
ya i'm pretty sure they're considered mainstream now, they did win the MAMA 2017 band of the year award afterall.
Gus McArthur Wanli is so cool!
+ 1 on this! Hyukoh is my jamm
Please check out FT ISLAND - Pray
It’s very rocky 👍 I think that you would love it
Will do!
Yes! You guys would really like it.
Another suggestion for FT Island: Take Me Now
Gus McArthur please!!
If you want some heavier Korean rock check out Drug Restauraunt "Mistake" or "OMG." ..."OMG" might actually pop up as the JJY Band. same band they just changed their name. It's not actually a kpop band which just means they don't have that idol look, were formed more organically, and are a little less...'PG' lol :P
lelmDR.WHO? Awesome thank you!!
Drug restaurant may not be an idol band but you can’t deny Jung Joon Young’s gorgeous visuals.
yes! Joon Young is gorgeous! I'm just a huge fan of him in general. He's the one who got me watching 2D1N and now I'm on episode 310 of season 3 (the ones he's a member in). and each episode is like an hour and a half long. ...like I am long term invested and that's why I want to share his music because I know that's what he loves first
DRUG RESTAURANT IS LIKE ONE OF THE BEST BANDS KOREA HAVE NOT KIDDING
Isnt Jung Yoon Young the one in the burning sun scandal?
They 3 years old, debuted in 2015. I would recommend songs like I Wait, How can I say, I need Somebody, Man in a Movie, and Stop the Rain. Also their song Warning, check that out
You should check DAY6's "I Wait" and "How Can I Say"! :)
faves and I need somebody
I'm so glad you checked them out. Please check out FT Island as well! They are an amazing band that's been around for a while and their lead singer Lee Hong Ki has a very unique and passionate voice. He's also an actor I would suggest FT Island's Love Love Love and a really great one is Severely (it's my personal fave and has a great mv) You can also check out CN Blue as well.
FIRE deLIGHT Awesome thank you!! We will definitely be checking out FT Island🤟
"Is the singer on keys?"
Dont be ridiculous, this is Kpop. They all sing.😂😂
Ash Cameron very cool!
i don't know if anyone's mentioned them yet, but an amazing k-indie rock band to check out is eastern sidekick. their mv for "teeth and sweat" would be my first suggestion. another band is guckkasten, they're easily one of the best rock bands in korea and will be right up your alley. the lead singer ha hyun woo has the most insane voice. check out their mv for "montage". other bands worth listening to: drug restaurant, nell (they're on the quieter side, but still incredible), the koxx - "사랑춤", thornapple - "blue spring", hyukoh - "wanli". some of those don't have mvs, and i don't expect you to react to any of this lol, i just hope you listen and enjoy :)
side note: generally it's pretty rare to find harder stuff from the more mainstream companies like sm, yg, bighit, or jyp. dreamcatcher is about as heavy as it gets as far as rock oriented music or concepts at the moment. although day6 is one of my favorite groups because they're so versatile as musicians and vocalists and i really do hope you listen to more of their music.
keep on keepin' on, you guys are great.
Also Stray Kids is a fairly new K-pop group however they've shown a lot of rock influences in their songs such as Awaken and District 9
Also Stray
Suki Kirai 2015*
i agree its heavier more rock constructed thats because japan is very much into rock music lol
React to:
FT Island
N.Fliying
VIXX
Greetings from Argentina
All N.Flying songs are good. I recommend Awesome or The Real, although Hot Potato is good too. 💖
And thanks to this I added Shoot Me at my playlist JAJAJ
jihoonpretty Yes please!
Here's another Korean rock band :)
Ft island- take me now,
-Pray
day6 are a "idol" band, but they do write their own music.
I will always support you guys i love your reactions
Yeah, they write their own song mostly with co songwriter called collapsedone.
They debuted in 2015, and last year they had project called Every DAY6 project where they released 2 songs each month.
Wish you check all of their discography, especially last year :)
Make sure to check not only the title track, but also B Side, because they produce songs with various genre of music.
Anyway, thank you so much for reacting to DAY6 :)
So basically theyre a korean rock band debuted in 2015. Theyre currently under jyp entertainment. Shoot me is their 3rd mini album. all of them are good vocalists and also have different types of vocals.
They have
2 guitarists (2 of them are also vocalists) sometimes they split up to play the melody and the other one plays the rhythm. (Which is good they can fill each other in)
1 bassist known as the songwriter of the group, he also a rapper of the group.
Plays drum since he was young, so you can say that he is a skillful drummer
All of the members always help for the melodies of their songs, sometimes the lyrics along with the bassist. Thats all the basic thing that i could help tell. Sorry if its confusing but thanks for reacting to them💓
Take Me Now by FTISLAND please!
As someone who listens to Kpop and metal, I’m so happy I found your channel! You should check out “I Wait” by Day6. ☺️ loving the reactions! 🖤
one of the members write basically all of the lyrics and they definitely contribute a lot to the composition, so yes they’re very involved in the making of the music but have helpers and everything to arrange as many do
I love how you say you're more on the heavy side but you two look innocent while saying it... 😁😊
Pi N hehehe🤟
Yass. Day6 was my favorite k-band. As always I love the reaction 💜💜
1. Yes, they write their own songs, the bassist is the main lyricist
2. they've been together for about 8yrs(?) including trainee days
3. Two of them are fluent in English~! They have also covered a lot of english songs :)
4. FOR HEAVIER GENRE, please listen to their songs:
- "STOP THE RAIN",
-"IF ~MATA AETARA~" (If we meet again)
-"I WAIT", and
-"HOW CAN I SAY",
You can also try listening to "WARNING" which is heavier in my opinion, but it doesn't have an MV but it's available on itunes and Spotify. Thank you for giving a try to listen to DAY6 :)
raniavenice - thank you so much, we appreciate all the information! This is great!
DAY6 debuted September 2015, and they have released around 50 songs to date, all self or co written and self or co composed by the members. They recently debuted in Japan and their japanese songs are heavier, especially Stop The Rain, you might want to check that out😊
One of their heavier songs is How Can I Say or I Need Somebody
Gus McArthur - it's the same as the UK, I think a lot of people do hear "kpop" and box it in but it's so much more than that,
It's also really interesting for me seeing how artists from other cultures represent their genres, do you like Rammstein or Babymetal?
I really like your reactions. It seems like you're really interested in learning about the different music types.
can you react to Awaken by Stray kids? Also, you guys have great videos!
Thank you! we will add stray kids to the list.
Thank You! :)
you got me with that injun pic uwu
Yes please
Check out Marmello :D They also play their own instruments like Day6, but they are a girl-group.
Chloe OOF very cool! Thank you!
Day6 has 5 members:
Jae (AKA Chicken Little, but don't call him that he denies the obvious) - lead guitar, vocalist, rapper
Sungjin - leader, rythm guitar, vocalist
Young K (AKA Brian, but don't call him that... well, even he forgets sometimes that he's stage name is Young K)- bassist, vocalist, rapper
Wonpil - synthesizer, keyboard, vocalist
Dowoon - drums.
My favourirte songs by DAY6:
"How Can I Say" - ua-cam.com/video/dwywhL1PenQ/v-deo.html

thanks for checkin in their music :D
This is an excerpt from Day6 interview abt the process:
_"So, composers have a work setting called a song camp. We are making songs in the process of exchanging opinions with composers."_
Day6 isn't a hard rock band they have been try varying styles like alternative/punk/pop/indie genre/ballad rock and even they do acoustic- centric music with guitar and Cajon.
Day - "I wait" and "How can I say" (?)
You should check it out
JYP, SM, and YG are the biggest companys and they started off as trainees that the ceo puts together. They debuted in 2016 and the youngest i believe is 20-21 and the oldest i think is 24-25. Members are Sungjin, Young K, And jae all play guitar wonpil plays keyboard and Dowoon on the drums.
I think you should listen Sweet Chaos by Day6, it's a little heavier than Shoot me :3
Automatic reaction as song starts: *bopping head*
me always
You might like Big Bang, 2NE1, B.A.P, and FT Island. I also recommend VIXX, SHINee and f(x) as personal faves.
For more K-Rock you should react to FTisland - Pray and Drug Restaurant Mistake !!
They are writing and composing every single one of their songs!!!! 😍
Day6 reminds me of fall out boy and my chemical romance...the bands of my high school days :)
the bass player Young K/Brian writes DAY6's music mostly and if you want to listen to more songs like this song i recommend stop the rain its one of their japanese songs and i wait is also really good
Check out ‘I miss you’ by Say Yes, its a pretty good song!
Kayla J cool thank you!
They write their own songs, they make them all :D
Please react more Day6! I love them SO MUCH!
day6 has a japanese song called dont stop the rain, in japan they enjoy more heavy rock so they changed their sound in that release to match the demographic, check it out i fu havent already !!
i recommend listening to how can i say and i wait (they both have music videos)
also since theyre considered a soft rock kind of band i dont know if they’ll be heavy enough to your liking plus shoot me is also considered one of their loudest songs haha but nonetheless they do write and make their own songs and are extremely talented please give their work a listen ! thanks for the reaction guys
I can't wait to see more from you guys
ok so i got to hear this song live a few months ago and it was HYPED AS FUCK. i almost lost my voice lmao the whole crowd was crazy
You guys should definitely check out Day6 - Stop The Rain.
And yes, they write and compose their music (for the most part).
WOOT you guys got DAY6! I agree with your FOB comparison, I think that’s really spot on. They do a lot of writing and producing, which I really respect. Their heaviest song is I Want, in my opinion. They showcase more of their technical prowess in that song
Me as a metalhead and a kpop fanatics: “you’ll never get bored of kpop dude”
I'm so glad you've reacted to what I'm obsessed to lately,, day6 and bts and Dreamcatcher 😭💜
Also there is another idol band called The Rose - Baby, if you would like to watch them too 👍
Please react to "Drug Restaurant - Mistake"
You can try their japanese song -Stop the rain.. it's heavier or I Wait and How can i say.. and they write and composed all their songs from debut till now.. they doing a world tour now, maybe you can try listen to their live performance cos their live is MORE LIT.. haha.. thank you for reacting!
Jimboo chan ok awesome thank you we will check it out!
react to some music by hyukoh!!! " Wanli万里 " and "comes and goes" they are a band but not idols~they write their own stuff, etc.
They write their own music debuted in 2016 they had 6 members before they debuted but one had to leave the group so they debuted with 5 members and use to go by 5alive btw one of the members brian is Canadian and jar is from long beach.
CHECK OUT N FLYING, FT ISLAND AND ROYAL PIRATES!!!!
Day6 have been together since 2015. And as far as I know they write most of their stuff
also i don't know if you know but (usually) in kpop groups/ bands there is someone who's not from korea or is multilingual (english speaker is most common) and in day6 is brian (young k, black hair guitarist) and jae (blue hair) !
as a person that loves both kpop and rock&metal i'm loving your channel! could you check out jrock as well? i'd suggest girugamesh - drain & the gazette - leech. also, there's this amazing hungarian metal band called aws that i'd recommend (check out viszlat nyar from eurovision 2018) :3
I need somebody, I Wait ( both in Korean ), If~また会えたら~(If We Meet Again ), and Stop the Rain (In japanese) These are the heavier Day6's songs.
In regards to the whole kpop/idol thing it's good to know that there are Korean artists that don't fall into the idol category. Anything 'kpop' is going to have elements of pop. If you're interested though, there are a lot of Korean indie and rock artists that aren't considered idols so they have more room to experiment with their sound.
i love watching these reactions thanks
Stop the rain is definitely a heavier song, I would recommend it!!
As far as more rock bands go, you should check out N.Flying - The Real, The Rose - Baby, and Drug Restaurant - Mistake (this one has a funny music video imo)
I just found your channel today-- and something I've noticed is that it can be hard to hear you talk over the music sometimes, is there a way to turn your mic volume up?
Ft.island is another group that does a little heavier rock (there's cc on 'pray' and 'take me now', so turn them on if you want):
*take me now* ua-cam.com/video/WsC0jG1M5jA/v-deo.html
*pray* (my favorite) ua-cam.com/video/hFS8HTUNF3I/v-deo.html
*shadows* ua-cam.com/video/WHcGnzqUzFU/v-deo.html
N.flying is another rock group but they add more of different elements and aren't that heavy rock either (there's also cc):
*The real* ua-cam.com/video/WUYzVohEAyE/v-deo.html
*how r u today* ua-cam.com/video/n5t0wpWJzkw/v-deo.html
they write they’re own stuff, the bassist wrote this song, and he wrote the majority of this album with the help of the others.
Check out FT Island - Pray
Pls!
They also remind me a little bit of fall out boy. Jae (dude with the blue hair) also said on tv he used to listen to fob when he was younger
If you want K-rock you should check out Ha Hyun Woo
Awesome thank you!
@@Gusmcarthur No probs. His band's name is Guckkasten
Saw them in LA, they were amazing!!!!
