Seriously tired of hearing people bitching that it needs more hp. This thing is about as fast as older SI models. It's fast for a base model car. If they made it faster there wouldn't be much point in an SI or Type R.
endocry it’s actually is faster than previous SI models! In Europe we don’t have SI option...You can buy a very expensive type r or affordable civic sport 1.5 vtec turbo 182hp...So basically “sport” is a replacement for “SI”=) In my country civic type r is around 53 000$...While civic sport 6MT starts from 26 000$
Don't let the trolls and pervs discourage you guys. This was a fun review, and exactly the type of car for Tommy and Charlotte to review. Big fan of Tommy's Jeep build and Diff lock! Looking forward to seeing more like this.
Tommy, you've really worked at becoming a great car reviewer since you joined TFL and it shows. I like the idea of you and Charlotte teaming up to do reviews much like how your dad and Nathan did when they started doing UA-cam video reviews. Two areas of improvement: 1) Better mics as your current audio sounds a little tinny and flat while the audible steps (30 sec mark) when Tommy is walking around the car crackle and interfere with your vocals. 2) some b-roll shots of the car were underexposed. Try using a GND filter to balance exposure since it can be difficult in party cloudy days such as this one.
I actually appreciated these two new reviewers. I typically don't watch too many TFL videos because I find the other guys get distracted or just aren't funny / very informative.
I've been looking at this to buy as a daily driver and I have watch several video reviews. You two did a great job covering a lot of the features in a short video and looked like you had fun making it! :)
I was iffy on getting the sport but I think I'll go that route... plus y'alls personalities and video presence is great, I look forward to watching your videos! Mahalo🤙🏾
I considered the Civic Hatchback Sport Manual but I was disappointed the radio has no Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and no Navigation upgrade option. So if you want a manual you're stuck with the basic radio or you have to get the CVT standard on the higher trims.
I find it sad how people can easily be so mean and insult the reviewers when this is a really good video. People don't understand how it takes hours to create a short video. People also need to stop insulting Charlotte just because she is a girl doesn't mean she doesn't know about cars. I've seen other videos with her and she knows just as much as any other guy car reviewer. I really think TFL is doing a great job. Keep up the good work TFL!
I know Honda is going for a "hot hatch" look, but am I the only one here that thinks the Civic Hatch is over styled? Personally, I like the far more subdued (but good looking) design of the Mazda 3 hatchback. It just feels like Honda tried too hard with this Civic.
I feel that same way, as I have no issue with Honda bringing back the "hot hatch" look, but this is stupidly excessive and its not even the Si or Type-R either. The older more subtle Honda hatches roughly a decade ago if not further back looked so much better than this.
I have the 2016 ext sedan and seriosley love it.. Great mpg, decent power, and everyone that sees it tells me its such a beautiful car.. Civic is in the top of the class once again.. I also bought it with 5,000 miles and 2 grand less..
Great team review! Tommy is definitely improving his presentation skills and Charlotte seems to have a knack for it. That being said, I'm sad to see the amount of sexually charged comments towards Charlotte. She is here to review the car and provide us with her impressions. TFLCar viewers, you can do better than this.
I think Honda tried so much to get to their sporty nature. I know they lagged behind over the years but overdoing it kinda shows you're vulnerable. The styling is good but like I said it's too much. Save the striking styling for the Si and Type R. The interior is.....eh. I'm not a fan of the grey/black interior. The seats look comfortable but leather would be nice. Charlotte, I'm disappointed in you. Seriously, no one cares about the plastic engine cover. So what? Unless you are true car geek and you love engines why bring it up? Gah! Another issue is hearing the engine, well I'm sorry consumers nowadays want quiet cars. Of course if you want to hear your engine head over your Ford, VW, and Subaru dealership for the ST, GTI, and, WRX. Or just what for the Type R. This isn't the best Civic that they have in the lineup. And finally the foldaway feed blocker or whatever you said, ummm all hatchbacks and even Crossovers have that feature. It's nothing new. Tommy, good job buddy.
it's very nice to see how the chanel progresses . in the beginning were only Andre and the other two and now we have you two . in the future would we see another one presenter
Great Review! Refreshing to see two new faces giving honest feedback. I hope to see more reviews by Charlotte and Tommy. Yes, she is beautiful. Good Luck to you both!! :)
About the shifter: winding road magazine said that it was one of the worst honda shifter he ever driven. he ascertained a very plastic feeling shift points and it doesn't feel sporty at all compared to previous honda generations.
Great video TFL. I was expecting the other two guys (sorry I forgot their names) so I was pleasantly surprised to see a female (yay) a part of the team now. Anyway, I can't wait to turn my Corolla in when my lease is up. Toyota dropped the ball with the CHR. My sights are set on the civic.
Looks like a perfect car for a college student or young professional. On the dog front, the sloping fastback hatch may be an issue for vertical clearance with a big dog. I've done long road trips with a 75 pound lab mix in a Chevy Sonic hatchback on several occasions, but because the hatch was essentially vertical she was perfectly comfortable sitting up and looking around. Even though the Civic's cargo area is technically larger (25.7 cu ft vs. 19.0 cu ft), the shape can make a huge difference for canine comfort. Constructive criticism: you should include footage of both of you driving the cars for the team reviews. Enjoyed the video, look forward to your next one!
Sort of ironic that in the UK the Si model is a 1 litre 125 bhp model. Our Sport model is only 1 down from the Type R but has LED headlights with wash , Android Auto touch screen and digital dials. Plus in chip sees it to 230 ps too. Great review of practical side of car too
I bought mine two years ago by default meaning i loss my 2010 civic due to an incident destroyed my undercarriage which was the timing chain. the car was a total loss due to the mileage. I then purchased the civic sport with only 26k on the odometer fun car
When Dodge stopped installing engine covers on my car, it was called "decontenting by the bean counters". When Honda does it, it's considered a good thing because you can "see what's going on". Ummm, what exactly are you seeing that's so visually appealing?
My first car was an Acura Integra. While I absolutely loved it- I hated the fact that so many others did as well. It was broken into 5 times and was finally stolen from inside my garage. Police found the car and when I went to see it in the impounded lot I quickly discovered hundreds of other Japanese cars (civics, accords, integras, camrys, etc.) all victims of theft. Now, I'll never buy a car that appears on the top 10 list of most stolen vehicles. I wonder if the Civic still is...UPDATE: The newest version did not appear on Forbe's list.
Thanks guys. I think Charlotte did great(don't listen to the haters). The civic sport is a great car and a great value. Really with they gave us more options on it like they do in Canada with infotainment and sunroof addons. Just waiting for your Si and Type R reviews now.
The car looks great but you have so many features that should be on this model that you cannot get unless you step up to the next trim level. I definitely won't be buying because of this.
Great car. Nice review. Too bad you can't get safety features, heated seats or sunroof with manual transmission- ie need sport EX. Trunk is a bit small. Wheel sizes have gotten out of bounds for snow country. Use 16" wheels standard with larger wheels optional.
My family and I have driven Hondas for many years--first Honda was a 1982 Accord hatchback so we go back a long way. My daughter, son-in-law, and I are now driving Accords while my wife and son are driving CRVs. The styling on the Civic is most definitely not to my taste and I hope the new Accord doesn't follow the Civic styling ques. The car looks like it was pieced together from parts of different cars by 16 year old Honda fan boys. The more I look at it the less I like it. I'm looking at Hyundai/Kia for my next car. Maybe an Elantra Sport.
The old Civic hatches starting from 2006 that were not exported to US had way larger and better fake exhaust tips, triangular and embedded in the rear bumper. Just do a google image search "honda civic hatch 2006". so if they ever started ricing it, it was already more than 10 years ago.
Why is two spoilers too much for a 180HP? Aerodynamics works based on speed, not acceleration. And you don't need a lot of speed before it starts working. Just look at the relatively low speeds that spoilers deploy for cars with adaptive spoilers.
Front wheel drive. You need some traction at the rear wheels, but the front wheels need to do all the acceleration, steering, and the majority of braking.
-Suburban- I guess you do not understand car physics. At high speeds, you do not have **traction** issues. Instead you have stability issues. These are entirely different things. Stability is when your car gets squirmy at high speeds. Rear end of a FWD can come lose at high speed due to lack of downforce. You don't even need to be accelerating. Rather, it can be during cornering or uneven road surface. So yes, FWD cars benefit from rear spoilers for optimal stability. And RWD benefit from front lip spoilers.
A change in direction (turning) is a form of acceleration. If you don't have enough traction on the turning wheels when you try to turn at high speed, you will end up in a ditch.
-Suburban- Right. And that impacts FWD and RWD differently how? Direction change does not equate to putting power down the ground, which affects TRACTION, where FWD and RWD matters. Why is this simple concept so difficult to understand? There is a reason why plenty of FWD race cars, have REAR spoilers. UA-camr commenters.. they just can't admit to being wrong about facts.
James Min Why do you think people designing race cars try so hard to get even weight distribution? What effect do you think you get when there are two spoilers on one end of a car, and none on the other end?
Honestly I think this review was good, but I'm disappointed that there was no 0-60. I know the numbers exist, but I haven't seen any for the hatchback version; only the turbo sedan.
Nilk Narf I'd just like consistency, as almost every car review on the channel includes the 0-60. It makes it easier to compare how quick it'll be around town, especially with how I personally don't use highways too often.
I actually like horsepower more than torque. I guess I'm just more attuned to the actual feeling of speed than I am by torque. I'd be fine with something like an RX-8 with no torque but very fast (Although unreliable, especially compared to a honda) than I would with say, a diesel Chevy Cruze. Those are obviously opposite ends of the spectrum but I believe the 0-60 speed is still relevant, as torque is not at all relevant to passing power when a diesel ends up taking 11-12 seconds to get up to 60, and most likely even slower 50 to 70 pulls.
Nilk Narf I don't like torque though.. I don't think you understand what I'm saying, I like the feeling of going fast more than I do being pushed back into my seat.... I don't need torque to go fast. I don't see any valid point in what you just said. Do you even know what the engine of a RX-8 is? It's rotary. Almost no torque even with a turbo, but a ton of horses for that torque. My favorite cars are ones that would do good on a track. My favorite brand is Lotus, with their high revving engines. I like my current car because it has a lot more horsepower than torque, meaning its more fun to ring out the engine and redline. In a lot of these turbo cars now, they're made for making it feel like it's going fast at low speeds. I live in a place with a lot of high speed roads, sure its "city" driving but it's no fun to get up to 45 with no horsepower. It's a lot more fun when you ring out the gears in a more traditional setup on an N/A motor. The 0-60 would show me how much the extra weight of the hatchback affects that ability to go quickly and have fun ringing out the gears. If it's more than 8 seconds I wouldn't buy it. Simple as that.
Nilk Narf it's not a problem because the number of times I actually get stopped by lights are next to none. I like how you just ignored everything else I said, and I'm sorry that your city has closer stoplights I guess..?
Love the engine bay, you can actually see the engine! Wish it had dual zone climate control! Don't like the cup holders and I hate the carbon fiber interior! Need more info... FWD / RWD / AWD... 0 - 60 time... Top speed? Also, if you must get a dog, go to a shelter and save a life... But don't get a dog!
Its kinda interesting to have the limited perspective of yung people . They dont remember Pontiac with its fake ventw and add ons. Also no prespective on pricing and horse power . The crx was touted for its 108 hp that is a joke today. And good move putting a cute girl on to catch her eye or if its your girl good way to woo her.👍
Seriously tired of hearing people bitching that it needs more hp. This thing is about as fast as older SI models. It's fast for a base model car. If they made it faster there wouldn't be much point in an SI or Type R.

God damn, she's fucking stacked, boys!! They sure know how to pick 'em!!

Tommy to Charlotte at 7:54: "If I was your dog, I'd be very happy back here."
I mean I would say the same ha ha
I love how she bumps her head on the roof at 4:16 and then tries to play it off lol
The top "spoiler" is to direct air down across the back window to keep it clear.
Mahalo🤙🏾
she needs to be in more videos!
I like the girl. Sorry for the amount of judgement she has to endure 😊
I considered the Civic Hatchback Sport Manual but I was disappointed the radio has no Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and no Navigation upgrade option. So if you want a manual you're stuck with the basic radio or you have to get the CVT standard on the higher trims.
I enjoyed watching you two, same as I watch Roman and Nathan. Great job! Keep doing more videos to feed us car enthusiasts.
really appreciate tflc for assigning this review for such young and lively people. A brave move!
I find it sad how people can easily be so mean and insult the reviewers when this is a really good video. People don't understand how it takes hours to create a short video. Great job, guys! Having these 2 youngsters do this review is genius, TFL. Keep it up!
I've owned about 5 hatchbacks over the years and one thing is for sure, a true hatchback only has 2 doors...
I think when he told Charlotte. "If I was your dog," he was hinting around at something.
wish the sport could come with the up level headunit for CarPlay/Android Auto capabilities
Good review guys.

Mad Pistol yes it is over done!

CWDTrixie ya man. the old hatches are golden.
Yeah I agree the rear looks like a plastic toy.
Mad Pistol to me the back looks like a sportier prius imo
Great job on the team review. Keep up the good work.
thanks guys for the awesome review.
Great review you guys. Looking forward to more content from you two.
You guys did great! I love your review! I think the exhaust note is a good point, but some people don't like too much noise. Basically preference.
I have the 2016 ext sedan and seriosley love it.. Great mpg, decent power, and everyone that sees it tells me its such a beautiful car.. Civic is in the top of the class once again.. I also bought it with 5,000 miles and 2 grand less..

Cool review TFL!
I love this hatch, would you recommend it in the snow?. Maybe winter tires needed? or would you recommend the new wrx? Thanks for any input
great review guys! way to have fun with it. Keep It Up!! 👍👍
What you have got to remember, back in 1988 my Renault 11 1.4 was only 68 bhp.
Good to see the next generation getting involved with TFL, also more usefull for younger car buyers.
Great review Guys!!! Many thanks, Tomorrow I ll go to the nearest Honda Dealer to buy it !!!
How many RPMs in 6th at highway speeds?

About to buy one of these, the more videos I watch the more excited I get. Gonna have to speed up this buy!
Good review. I think the new Civic hatchback looks good, for a hatch!
I like this his/her turn review!!
Great Review! Refreshing to see two new faces giving honest feedback. I hope to see more reviews by Charlotte and Tommy. Yes, she is beautiful. Good Luck to you both!! :)
If we saw more of Charlotte, I wouldn't be mad.

Charlotte: Great Job
Tommy: Sorry Bro, you have knowledge but you lack presentation skills
enjoyed the review, well done.

When your teacher loads you school presentation online...
Great review of a great car
Very well done. I love the car and the review.
I bought mine two years ago by default meaning i loss my 2010 civic due to an incident destroyed my undercarriage which was the timing chain. the car was a total loss due to the mileage. I then purchased the civic sport with only 26k on the odometer fun car
More Charlotte please. She's a nice change of pace.
Say what you will about Honda, they can make a manual transmission amongst the best
The Civic has been the best selling car in North America for 17 years straight, let's see if it can make it 20 years in a row
Roman Jr, if that's your gf. Good job 👏
b22chris it's probably his sister. lol
He missed a great opportunity to stop short.
Very excellent MPG. How does that translate into actual driving range?
Keep up the good work
Is there an option with dark window on the back?
The competition 4 civic hatchback is the Mazda 3 hardback... But the type r complete change the game
just wondering, were you at all paid any royalty by a dealership/manufacturer?
Whats the song used before you guys review the civic ?
This channel will do better with more of Charlotte..!
I would like to see a comparison between civic sport hatchback and the new Hyundai Elantra GT hatch that is coming out soon.
Kris Kaczowski the elantra gt sport has way better build quality on the inside. hyundai also comes with way more standard features
When Dodge stopped installing engine covers on my car, it was called "decontenting by the bean counters". When Honda does it, it's considered a good thing because you can "see what's going on". Ummm, what exactly are you seeing that's so visually appealing?
Chris Freemesser it's that the engine looks like a engine should, and it's not just a bunch of wires and lines going everywhere.
i would have loved this when i was in school
Good review. Thanks!
David Cuerpo Jr That's because Japanese cars are the best and thieves know it hence why they get stolen so often
I like the team review style, but I not a fan of the styling. It's too busy. Two spoilers, center exhaust, and fake air vents?
nice perky front end. bounces just right. id smash it. talking about the civic btw.
Loving the new civic hatch. like the add cvt auto option. wish the si got it as a option. been looking at a cheep turbo hatch for gas mileage
Thanks guys. I think Charlotte did great(don't listen to the haters). The civic sport is a great car and a great value. Really with they gave us more options on it like they do in Canada with infotainment and sunroof addons. Just waiting for your Si and Type R reviews now.
Who decided to put microphones on your shoes?
The car looks great but you have so many features that should be on this model that you cannot get unless you step up to the next trim level. I definitely won't be buying because of this.
Great car. Nice review. Too bad you can't get safety features, heated seats or sunroof with manual transmission- ie need sport EX. Trunk is a bit small. Wheel sizes have gotten out of bounds for snow country. Use 16" wheels standard with larger wheels optional.

The Team Review, is the future of this channel.
The next generation of TFL car hosts???
holy CRAP the lady host got a WAGON!
0:20 honda now starts ricing it from the factory with fake big exhaust tips
ILLUMINATUS and 2 spoilers :)))
The old Civic hatches starting from 2006 that were not exported to US had way larger and better fake exhaust tips, triangular and embedded in the rear bumper. Just do a google image search "honda civic hatch 2006". so if they ever started ricing it, it was already more than 10 years ago.
ILLUMINATUS saves me time
So, it's about the same weight, same horsepower as a Scion tC, and even more aggressively styled. Is the Civic the new poseur champion?
Nice review.
Great review with very good information but the camera work and editing could be better. Please work on cuts and transitions. Overall good video 👍🏼
Great team review!...Charlotte is a keeper as well....
Charlotte 😍😍😍 you should do more reviews
No wonder Chevy can't sell the Cruze without massive incentives.
Love this car. Just needs the Si engine treatment. Though for my purposes, a Fit would be more than enough.
So at first I was like guys, so shes pretty, ok, but then tommy convinced her to lay down in the backseat,...lmao

TFL YOU MESSED UP. Nathan goes in the trunk, not Charlotte!! thumbs up tho

Team review, or teen review 😅
i'd prefer a review with only Tommy.
Giving Trish a run for her money!
She's adorable.
