    I have leakage between the blue/gray and big gray parts. But seeing it is unable to disassemble, I put it back and tighten as strong as I can. Now it is better. Anyhow thnx for the video. (If you don't mind, I will watch others to improve my English. 😀. Your talking style is very good)

      You could replace it with a simple hose without the stop mechanism.

    Very helpful. My washing machine has leaked twice, this time more seriously and it looks like I'm going to have to replace foor tiles and chipboard underneath. Whatever this hose does, it still seems to leak at the connection point. I guess when the washer vibrates it comes loose. I've fitted a conventional washer hose now.

    Hi. I have fully dismantled it. There is another magnet inside. The magnet under repulses/ pushes the other one while it is in the normal conditions. Once the aquastopper has been triggered it pushes the down magnet away and the above one falls and closes the tube.

    I had one of these supplied with my new machine about 7 years ago, but never fitted it. Can't remember why, either it wasn't long enough, or didn't fit the limited space or something. Eventually chucked it out in a garage clear out last year, but always wondered how it worked. And indeed, what the point of it was. Seems over engineered to solve a problem that doesn't exists (I've never had a normal pipe leak). Ironically, my son has one fitted to his AEG and the "leak proof" hose is now leaking out before the water gets to the clever bit. It's getting a standard replacement hose fitted!

    Actually, I haven't find here the answer to my question (if Aquastop in anyway, old or defected, might be responsible for the mysterious collecting water in the washing machine even in no operating mode), but ... your movie so much relaxed me, that I've nearly forgot the problem, and can spend the rest of my evening with whiskey instead.

      I have the same problem slowly leaking into dishwasher. When knocking on aquastop valve it stop for a while. All kind of these should be dismantled?

  • @mellowtale3311

    Kinda weird though, everywhere on the internet you read that the mechanism measures a certain amount of water before shutting off. But it seems that it only is able to detect leaking into the second hose, not measuring waterflow. But most appliances have exact something looking like this in the hose directl after the tap.

    Nice video, I whole heartedly endorse all your magnet related comments! Ended up here since all my plumming was working like a charm, untill I turned off the isloation valves when the kitchen tap detached itself (admittedly I did pivot the mixer). Next thing the washing machine is on the blink. Turns out this hose wasn't the problem, the upstream flow is. So I figure I may have cranked the valve a bit before realising it wasn't the sink valve (the two valves branch at the same point - pretty common setup in flats in Germany). Thing is the sink is back to normal but this one only opens to a dribble - even without the hose attached. The landlord is a bit of a slumdog millionaire so I'm wondering if there is anything obvious to try before involving him in getting a plummer?

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  11 місяців тому

      You could try a plain hose, it will tell you if the aquastop hose is the issue.

      In the end swapping out the angle stop valve left everything working slightly better than before.

    This type of feed tube has a tendency to unwind themselves off the tap because of the ratcheting mechanism. Top line BEKO and BLOMBERG used to use these, but have now stopped supplying them with new machines because they undo themselves. If you do have to use 1 of these feed hoses, you need to take out as much of the coiling as possible by stretching the pipe and not having it coiled up when fitted.

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  3 роки тому +1

      Is top line Beko an oxymoron?

    • @MrJef06
      @MrJef06 Рік тому

      Technically, every not empty finite subset of a totally ordered set has a maximum (and a minimum), so a top of line Beko must exist... even though it may not be considered top of line generally speaking 😉

    Its funny its called anti flooding hose, mine after 5 year with Aeg washing machine started to leak at the O ring and was spraying water all over under the sink where its connected, lucky i was there and heard it, otherwise ot would have been major leak over hours damaing thr floor, the yellow sponge normally is visible trough the check window, if it changed to red that means the sponge got wet and expanded and pushed the red plastic away, and now the magnet which is repelling another magnet inside the tube will close, you can take out the small magnet and install it the other way but that will just close the tube all the time so install it in a repelling way which you can feel with you hand, i was thinking to buy new yellow sponge amd replace it, its pretty much the same thing as a soldering iron cleaning sponge, but i noticed that the enclosure is deformed at the O ring and it would leak in there so have to replace the entire hose or just replace it with a normal hose

  • @amypeggs9606

    What do you think it means if my washing machine hose (identical to this except, for some reason, red caps even though it's cold fill) shows both red and yellow inside the little window, but it still appears to work, in the sense that water comes through to the washing machine?
    Trying to work out if it's worth the giant pain of swapping the existing, old and potentially knackered one for the one that came with the new machine.

    We have a GORENJE washing machine which has a leakng Aquastop hose exactly like the one you are showing on this video. The problem is when we tighten the hose to our tap it leaks at the top (head) of the hose even though it is firmly tightened. We think the Aquastop head is the problem. Our question is, can we use a standard hose on the machine, if not, do you know where do we buy the Aquastop replacement hose for this machine? Any information is appreciated. Thanks

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  4 місяці тому

      if it is this exact hose I think you can use a plain replacement, some aquastop hoses are attached to the machine and have wires within, they can't be disconnected.

  • @briansheridan6915
    @briansheridan6915 2 роки тому +1

    If a dishwasher has one of these aquastop valves can the old type connector be used instead.

    Don’t know if they do an extension,or a longer one, but this will have to be extended to reach out water outlet. Which defeats the whole point of thing in the first place. I’d have to check again but I thought I read it had to fitted for the warranty to be valid. AEG machine

    • @vaseabmwe39
      @vaseabmwe39 Рік тому +1

      Doesn't matter. If the hose starts to leak, the water will get to that sponge anyway.

    • @fifferfiffer2
      @fifferfiffer2 Рік тому +1

      You can install it whatever position you want it, the repels the other inner magnet either way opening the tube, and if the sponge gets wet it will expand and move away the visible magnet so the inner magnet is not being repeled anymore and closes the tube

    from where I see it, this device won't prevent flooding in the event of an inlet solenoid failure (that happened to me once), it will only be triggered in case the hose bursts or leaks.

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  3 роки тому +3

      Yes, you need an aquastop with a float valve in the base of the machine to stop it if something in the machine leaks.
