3:40 At a certain point, attempts to be "inclusive" when done in a way that just don't work come across as just empty pandering by greedy executives, or just plain incompotence from the writers who have no idea how to reach their attempted audience.
At our core, we're all people, and none of us like the idea of being cheated out of our money and time, and ESPECIALLY not the idea that the people behind a work of fiction genuinely believe that they can write the most nonsensical and poorly written trash ever but as long as they "check the box for _this_ " in said work everyone will lap it up. At that point, especially when a studio does it _multiple times_ , it comes across as just insulting everyone's intelligence and taste in stories. Basically, Disney and other bad attempts at "inclusivity and progressive messaging" are telling the people in the audience that "We KNOW you don't care about quality in fiction, you just want to see yourselves on the screen". It's no wonder everybody hates this stuff. It offers nothing, and borders or even outright insults its audience, both the general one and the audience it claims it is trying to reach.
It’s good to see this written. GL created the different alien species and androids, to represent the different races of people around the world. Disney has zero claim on “inclusivity”, because GL has been doing it since he wrote Star Wars many decades ago.

The only thing Kathleen Kennedy needed to do to make money and people happy is adapt the expanded universe. The moment she didn't do that but aborted it, there is no story. You just have an agenda "the force is female". Last I checked, in the expanded universe, Luke falls in love with the former emperor assassin. He trained her to be a Jedi and they get married together. Her name is Mara Jade. They go on to have a son. His name is Ben Skywalker. And Luke is the grand Jedi master of the new Jedi order. He's not some bitter pissed off old coward of a man Disney crucified with the last Jedi. Give the expanding universe another chance. You don't have to agree with all of it, but if you want to reconcile with the crucifixion Disney did to Star Wars, start reading Luke Skywalker expanding universe books and comics. I'm reading the story right now of Luke fighting the bureaucracy to even marry Mara Jade in the first place. There's something beautiful about a husband and wife Jedi couple fighting evil alongside one another going on in eventually having a son together who is also a Jedi. That sounds like such a much better continuation than what Disney gave you. I'm telling you to give the expanding university chance, you'll be redeeming yourself from the pain that Disney caused on Star Wars
There where like 350 something cannon books. Chewie has a son that also becomes a Jedi same and you got the barabells the lizard race that never had anyone in their species become a Jedi until Luke trained once. Then you have the invasion by the outsiders that came from a different galaxy to conquer the one star wars takes place in. That use organic technology, living ships the size of planets. And to them non organic technology is a blasphemy. They seek to subjugate the entire galaxy under their banner and kill anyone who can touch or sense the force because its harasey to them. All that great sci-fi story telling books that sold by the millions.... Just wasted. Killed and destroyed best things Disney could do is cancel all new star wars about and say okay we are going back and making the legacy time line the official timeline and make shows and movies biased on the books.

The brand is damaged so badly that anything SW automatically bombs. She singlehandedly destroyed Lucasfilm. SW- on life support almost dead, Indy-dead, Willow-dead. The only thing they haven't touched is THX 1138 and American Graffiti because it's hard to see how those one time films could be turned into franchises. But given enough time, im sure they'll ruin those movies as well. KK and the entire Lucasfilm Story Group have to go.

This is a very simple fix. If Disney just had the courage to do it.. fire Kathleen Kennedy, and every last one of her people. Hire new actors, directors, producers, and even executives that understand that the fans are their customer.. Disney needs to do this across every one of their studios. And let me be clear executives board members and even Bob Iger need to go.! They need to stop pushing identity. Politics and treat their customers were respect as well as treating their franchisees and characters with respect.. otherwise their days as a studio are growing short. Me and many others like me will not let them have one red penny as long as they continue to destroy franchise like Star Wars and Marvel..
Then de-canonize the sequels and redo them according to George's original storyline.

@ I would even revisit Ray in the future, having Luke Skywalker and Leia as for ghost guarding her in reestablishing the Jedi. Also do a live action show of Luke and the gang in their prime during happier times after returning the Jedi. And their adventures.. recasting or D aging

Let's just remember something, he's about as left-leaning As they come, He is very susceptible to pressure, And he already sold out.
He sold Star Wars almost entirely out of spite towards fans who thought he was Making bad decisions without any push back. And he sold it to the very people he had spent decades warning people about when he was more respected.
He wasn't producing his best work during the prequal era, I'd argue that clone wars was one of the things that really damned the series with regards to being taken as a serious piece of war media and turned it into the children friendly slop that we have today.
I think he may be could have stood a chance to have turned things around after the prequals and Given the chance to work on clone wars, I no longer think he has what it takes.
That said, people are desperate and will likely give him a dozen chances and throw money at him anyway.
At this point I'm really personally not interested in duo for dead franchises from desperate creators who realize they made a goddamn mistake.

I don't know if Kennedy's diminished role is true, but if she's hoping to get the support of the profession, when she's betrayed the saga's creator and betrayed his vision and his commitment to respect what he had envisioned for the saga's future, I believe, and especially hope, that she will be extremely disappointed. If she had any honor and pride, she should resign and admit that she has failed.
I think Kennedy has had to effectively place supporters behind her vision of what she believes Star Wars to be, Dave Filoni is one of them, and I don't trust him, especially after the catastrophic Ahsoka.
Above all, I hope that one way or another, Bob Iger and the people in charge at Disney, will do what it takes to please the fans and give us the real sequels that Lucas had envisioned. I hope they'll give the direction of the movies of the George Lucas's episode 7 to 9 to Jon Favreau, and why not by giving him the role of Lucasfilm's Chief Executive Officer and asking Lucas nicely to be the artistic consultant, who will restore Star Wars' coherence.

Per contractual obligation between Disney and George Lucas signed in 2012, Kathleen Kennedy became the foremost producer and president of Lucasfilm for 15 years. She can not be terminated no matter what rumor you would like to believe. She does, however, have the option to take a severance should her tenure as president of Lucasfilm no longer equates with the values of Disney.
I've been hearing for years she's on her way out. She'll still be losing Disney money in 2066.
