This right here is the kind of progressive representation we need more of in Anime.
Uenoyama's concern over whether his feelings are valid and whether something is wrong with him are the very concerns so many LGBT people have. Then to told that what he's feeling is alright and that he can confide in Kaji about it (in Kaji's own sassy way of-course) was wonderful.

My God I just love how this anime is just like any casual romance anime with a nice plot even strong on the comedic side and all. I've been looking for stuff like this instead of those sadistic and unrealistic yaoi. ALSO THEIR FACE EXPRESSION AND ANIMATION IS AMAZING OML

There's a place in anime and manga for realistic relationships and for the complete fantastical and unrealistic ones in other yaoi. At the end of the day all of it is a work of fiction. It's nice to see the realistic and it's also okay for the completely ridiculous.

@@kl3321 the way it's handled is actually really refreshing, it's not romantic or "so wrong it's right", it's legitimately awful and something that breaks a lot of trust between two characters, that one of them has to do a lot of work to earn back. It's also doesn't go very far which is another huge plus in my book.

Bro I just love how self aware the characters are about their sexuality and how they are discussing the topic of it in a realistic way! Japan is very controversial place for the LGBTQ+ community and I’ve heard of some stories of people even marring someone of their opposite gender just to make there family and society accept them. I really like how the anime is funny and comedic at times and than goes to deep and sad at other. This anime is just great I just love it :)
This is the PERFECT anime to represent LGBT people. I myself am bisexual, and this just made me so happy. Their relationship is treated like any other straight couple is, they talk, have fun, argue with each other and love each other. The comedy is present and this is totally not a yaoi like any other. This anime is just a masterpiece, and it gave me so many feelings, I can’t even express how happy this series makes me :’)

This is why I love this anime. I’m all for representation but most anime’s make the non straight relationships super sexual and fetishized but this is just cute romance with a good plot and amazing comedy.

Something i absolutely love about given is that it doesn't cater to fetishizing homosexuality. The story isn't just centered on a dudesxdudes yaoi fantasy, it realistically represents what lgbtq people experience while at the same time normalizes it

I just started watching this show and I feel like this captures the topic of basic homosexuality pretty well...I think? Im not one obligated to say since I’m not lesbian, but I feel like this is a average way to approach it but I feel as though it was executed fairly well.
Jessica Sickmann I like this anime because it doesn’t think of its audience as dumbasses, which a lot of shows tend to do. A lot of given is silent or at least without dialogue. Bc they use other ways to portray the story. And when there is dialogue everything is necessary. Everything has a purpose. It’s amazing.

Totally agree with so many comments - Akihiko's entire handling of the scene is flawless, especially knowing how much Uenoyama looks up to him. It's not just how he deals with Uenoyama's doubts about there being something wrong with him ('zenzen?' and a shrug is what everyone should be offered for an answer), but how he confronts his attitude without confrontation at all, telling him so gently that he's in no place to lecture anyone. Such a serious scene and yet humour is there and just fits. Geez the entire anime and ALL his characters are something else.
