Why is there no one with them to take care of the pets if it is necessary to calm the pets when they are afraid and very nervous? İt is so unfair to put them there alone in the dark with the scary voice of the plane. Everyone with pets wants the best for them, if it is possible take them in the cabine with you. They have also the right to be handle with carefully like baby's. They are not bagages to put them there alone.
Hi, what camera did you fit inside the crate? If you can provide a link that would be grate. Maybe I would get one with night vision if it goes all dark.
I don't know the name but its a only about 100euro actioncam, I put it with tape in the back of the crate. Yes I recommend buying something with nightvision anf long battery life because mine died after 2 hours.
Which camera did you use for this? I’d love to do the same for my dog for when we travel and he has to go in cargo unfortunately 😢 please let me know Thankyou!
Might be good to use a solid plastic water container attached to the crate for future flights. A paper cup (like the McDonald's one) gets soaked over time and water can spared inside the crate. In the worst case, the animal sits in the wet without water.
I cannot thank you enough for posting this video! We have flown our dog from South Africa to Sweden and he was fine, but i just always wondered how the pets are handled & ho everything looks, but this video put most of my wondering to sleep. I just so badly would like to know what the pets' reactions are when taking off & landing. How terrifying it must be for them.
Thanks for the video, this calms me up a bit, I have to travel to move in a few months and I don’t drive, So my only option is airplane. I see people saying how they don’t even leave a light source, but I think it’s actually better. A lot of dogs feel more calm in a smaller darker space, and the lack of light can help them go to sleep instead of being anxious about the owner. It also depends in the dog, some dogs get more anxious when they don’t see anything, while others prefer their crates covered.
In this era, there is so many options. Dogs can wear those muzzels i think its Called, and be in the cabin with us for an extra seat. No problems at all. All safe and No danger, nothing. And also those no pulling collar. Seriously I wish they would at least have an small area just for dogs maybe 6 seats at least for dogs to travel with their owners., small or big dogs, it doesn’t matter!
Try maybe cargo carriers. They carry animals much more humanely and not all in the dark. There is also someone who tends to them (i.e horses oftrn carried like that)
This procedure is totally fine. The loading and offloading the the scariest part for the dog, once loaded and taken off, they’ll sleep. This comment section just shows that some people need a reminder that these are still dogs and not human babies!
It's so inhumane how we treat them, still. Poor creatures :( I genuinely think leaving ur dog behind while u travel for a few weeks is better for them. Yes u may not like it but that's your feelings. They would stay with a dog sitter, have a routine and be physically ok. In this scenario, they are in physical discomfort and scared while you are feeling great. The only genuine reason to do this is if ur moving permanently or adopting the animal..
You are totally right. You can just travel with your dog in the car and it will be much more comfortable for the dog, especially if it’s used to drive a car. But some people are extremely egoistic and just drag their dog on holiday and put it on a plane. Because they don’t want to pay for a sitter or they don’t want to travel to a nearby country.
@@yllia2852 or the dog is used to it, loves to join in on vacation and these people are from Sweden.. good luck driving to a warm country with a dog in the car for 20+ hours. A flight only takes 2-4 hours to Greece and it’s done. At least they don’t abandon their dog with a stranger.
@@TellmeIamawesome Unless you're moving permanently, there's really no reason to fly your pet cargo. Can't part with them for a short vacation? Then let them fly in the cabin with you. If the owner can afford a flight to some place for a temporary siesta, they can surely pay an extra to keep their pet more comfortable. Otherwise, they shouldn't get a dog.
Thank you for posting this insightful video. In advance you can also do crate training with your pet so that it feels more comfortable when it's time to get in the crate for travel. Additionally it is good to tire out your pet by walking them so they will nap during transport, it helps ease their anxiety. Feeding and giving them water only as instructed by the airline so they aren't dealing with having to go in the crate ortunny aches.
About to do this to my 50 lb collie moving from Europe to the US. No, it's not ideal, but I'm not leaving my dog behind. At first the darkness bit upset me, but animals in the wild would be used to complete darkness in nature. It's probably better that it's dark.
I adopted from street a dog he is big and my only options to stay with home is to bring him where I relocate by airline and that “awful experience but if I left home or gave him in adoption probably he would die because I already save him once from bad people. So I think a 4hr trip is not gonna be that awful compared to if I leave him with another person.
@@worldsgoncrayi would totally love this option but unfortunately there are no roads from the US to the UK!. I was even prepared to go with them on the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship for a 7 day trip from NY to Southampton UK, but their large dog kennels are fully booked until 2026 - well, we are re-locating in April2024 so that‘s not an option. Thank you for this very informative video but dang, I am now getting very anxious for my dogs. I will be travelling a 25 hour trip to go back home in Manila, Philippines and this is so very terrifying for me even! To be in the dark with the loud noise - I will go crazy! There must be an airline somewhere thinking of having a strictly for animals cargo with lights that never get turned off. Oh dear .... I will most definitely buy this camera! John, what kind of camera did you use? Is there one that can go from boarding to de-boarding? Oh my .... I have two huge dogs - a Dobermann and a Bloodhound, and a small mountain cur.
Hi, the camera is a simple action l camera for around 100 euros. A cheap "gopro" My intention for putting it up was just to see how my dog reacts during takeoff and if she is together with other dogs and ofc curiosity to see how their journey is compared to ours. But then I realized the informative part of the video and I uploaded it here in full length uncropped (just sped up) so more people could see what traveling in cargo is like for our beloved dogs. This was just a 3 hour flight. 25 hours is a very long flight. If you want to record for a longer time and record in the darkness during takeoff I would recommend buying a more expensive camera that maybe eveb have nightvision. Or buy just one nice actioncamera that is waterproof that you can use for underwater pictures etc. Be aware that legally I didn't have any permit to use the camera, I traveled from one European county, some countries maybe are very strict against using cameras and filming parts of the airport that are restricted for non workers. I would not have tried this traveling outside of Europe because I dont know the local laws and wouldn't take that risk.
No need to be terrified and please don’t compare your perception with the one of a dog. Once you’re in the air, it doesn’t matter if the transport takes 2 or 10 hours. Get medication from your vet before. If your dog is overly anxious, rather avoid the procedure but for most dogs this is perfectly fine. This is NOT a human.
Better to leave them alone at a stranger or dogcare? My dog would feel so abandoned and sad. And she loves being on vacation, swim in the ocean meet my cousins kid that's she loves and that loves her so much. 3 hours of flight or 4 weeks without her loved ones. For us it's an easy answer.
The problem is never the owners, anytime there is an ossue it is the owner. These people seemed to do a great job but that is why it is so important to adminster proper training to airline employees.
^^ actually it is really important to not sedate, unfortunately. It can make the change in air pressure a lot more dangerous for their respiratory systema
I’m flying from Frankfurt to Charlotte. I’m having to put my cat in the cargo hold. I booked my ticket with a cat in-cabin, got to check in and was told that is impossible because they don’t allow pets in cabin AT ALL on international flights. American Airlines is the worst!!!
I don’t want to bring my dog with me, I mean I want to, but putting them in the cargo scares me. The only reason I have to is because we’re moving to Australia
Thank you very, very much for this video! It is clear to me that this doesn't seem to be a good enough option. Stockholm-Athens is a very short flight, can you imagine intercontinental flights? Dogs will have to poopoo in their crate! Isn't it strange that no-one said anything to the dog? How jaded can you get?
they are actually in a completely separate part of the plane, they are not with luggage and it is temperature controlled the same as what you experience in flight
Probably, I didn't. But I risked it because I was traveling from an EU to another EU country. And staff did see and even waved to the camera so I don't think they had a problem with it and didn't complain about it. My reasoning is that it is a public place and I don't need permission to film and upload a video filmed in public. They had ex rayed the crate just before the video starts so it didn't film any security control and it didn't show anything in the backround that I consider to be illegal to film/upload. I would not have done it if I was traveling outside of Europe, because there I know even less about locals laws.
@@john13arva Thanks for that, interesting. Sweetheart. This must be terrifying for our babies, It really sucks that we can't just take our pets in cabin regardless the size. Just allow 2 or 3 per flight. It's not the end of the world. Or give people the option of pet friendly flights, even if once a week. The private ones or Bark Air costs thousands of dollars each way. They can also have a pet friendly section on the plane. We put up with crying babies, but most dogs will be quiet during the flight.

This is a video about a dog not a child sir
Aww terrifying experience!...as a society can we please find a more comfortable way for larger pets to travel?
They should have they're own seat....they y'all owners wouldn't want to pay for it 😑
@@jazzthewayyoulikeitI agree
@@jazzthewayyoulikeit it’s because pets aren’t trained unfortunately, and have put way to many lives at risk on planes and have interfered with working animals such as service dogs, if people trained their dogs pets probably wouldn’t need a fee to fly with their owners!
JSX!
@@jazzthewayyoulikeit The money I paid for my dog to go to private boarding while I went away could have gone to having her own seat on the plane. I could fit her into a "large crate on top of the airline seat with a foot stand under it. I refuse to put my dog through the kind of traumatic stress the airlines currently provide for large dog travel. Yes, there are people that are not willing or can't afford to pay for the extra seat, but there are also some people that "will" if they "can" afford it. I will NEVER put my dog in the current travel option unless I would be allow to lay in the crate with her for the whole fight as well. YUP! I would do that if it meant keeping my dog relaxed and less stressed.
Have a safe trip puppers
I hope you made an arrival video with your puppers
thanks for sharing..my dog would love this since he going on motorcycle rides with us all the time...we need to do 3 hours transit in cargo...thanks for this
Thank you for video ...i wish ALL the best for him.i só scary for my dogs then need travel in cargo soon ..
How whas your dogs reaction when you arrived at your destination and picked him up?
We will fly too with our dog in cargo for almost 3 hours and 15 minutes so I'm very nervous about how my dogs reaction. Will he be calm or very scared because of the sound voice from the plane? Why is there no one with them to take care of the pets if it is necessary to calm the pets when they are afraid and very nervous? İt is so unfair to put them there alone in the dark with the scary voice of the plane. Everyone with pets wants the best for them, if it is possible take them in the cabine with you. They have also the right to be handle with carefully like baby's. They are not bagages to put them there alone.
Such a calm dog!
So there's no light once the baggage compartment door is closed? That's the same as torture.
iuno dogs like dark
The reason for the lights being out is so that it triggers their sleep cycle
@@SuperJadels Makes sense but absolute pitch black dark seems a bit much.
No it’s not the same as torture lol
@@ulusguybut it is heated.
Strange!!! Y sooooo dark!!! Cant they have some lights on in the compartment...afterall living being they are too!
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video, this calms me up a bit, I have to travel to move in a few months and I don’t drive,
So my only option is airplane.
That's true...Dogs have great night vision, and at dog shows, a covered crate is common to see, so the dog feels more secure.
@@Oakleaf700 Pretty much goes for any animal you want to calm down. We used to cover our birds at night and they'd quiet up and go to bed.
I REALLY appriciated this video🎉
Noooo, qué feo cuando se apaga la luz :((((
lo bueno es q ellos tienen sentidos más desarrollados y x otro lado quizás pueda ser hasta un poco relajante, después de todo, no son seres humanos.
Terrifying but we are moving to Japan and my dog has to fly cargo a very, very long way. 😢
Try maybe cargo carriers. They carry animals much more humanely and not all in the dark. There is also someone who tends to them (i.e horses oftrn carried like that)
He is soooo cute 😘😘😘💓💓💓
This procedure is totally fine. The loading and offloading the the scariest part for the dog, once loaded and taken off, they’ll sleep.
This comment section just shows that some people need a reminder that these are still dogs and not human babies!
Thanks for the video. If I do ship my dog I will put led light in cage.
That’s so scary 😮
@@TellmeIamawesome are you blind or just stupid? You can clearly see the dog is not liking it.
@@Arkxyz You're beyond stupid. Look up the cabin rules for European flight companies. End of discussion.
Thank you for sharing
Anxiety for the dogs
I appreciate your posting this! What a good dog too.
About to do this to my 50 lb collie moving from Europe to the US. No, it's not ideal, but I'm not leaving my dog behind. At first the darkness bit upset me, but animals in the wild would be used to complete darkness in nature. It's probably better that it's dark.
Ty for this. I will never in my life fly my pet cargo...ever😢
What camera size could i use for this scenario? If anyone has a link to a few to review. Thanks
OH no poor little thing..😪😔😌
Awie! My dog is currently in route from ca to NC, I wonder how he feels right now 😢
You can always go with a ground transporter. About a 3 -4 day trip from Cali to North Carolina.
Costs about $1200
@@worldsgoncrayi would totally love this option but unfortunately there are no roads from the US to the UK!. I was even prepared to go with them on the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship for a 7 day trip from NY to Southampton UK, but their large dog kennels are fully booked until 2026 - well, we are re-locating in April2024 so that‘s not an option. I think i will have to make my 2 dogs and me „suffer“ through this already terrifying trip - i would pay for 2 extra plane tickets to have my dogs next to me in a crate even. Both are 80Ib dogs, so no chance of that happening i know.
Im worried about my boys. Its a 14h flight when i depart
Hi John, Is it okay to use your video as an example? We will reveal the source. I need a pet video as an airplane screen feature, and I think it's very suitable, so leaving a comment. I'd appreciate it if you said it's okay. Waiting for your reply thank you
Yes its okey, if possible show me later how you used it just for my curiosity. :)
amazing video
Great video. I’m taking my dog to Singapore soon and I’d love to see her too. What camera system did you use, and how did you install it? Please let me know. Thanks Doug
Did he ever reply to you about the camera system? I‘m relocating to the UK soon and have 2x 80Ib Labs that i will absolutely not leave behind but would be interested in installing camera system also just to know what‘s really going on
@marinakinross2222 do let me know how it goes and what all preps you did for the same. Safe flight to you n the pupers god bless
100euro action cam stick it on with tape
No light? Thanks, for letting me know. Never will I do that to my dog....wow.
The reason for the lights being out is so that it triggers their sleep cycle
Hi, very cool video! What a calm and strong boy. What camera did you use? I'm going with my cats, I want to follow along.
How many hours was the flight? And did you sedate tour dog? I'm thinking to travel with mine is 15 hrs. One lay over.
❤ good dog
A cheap "gopro"
My intention for putting it up was just to see how my dog reacts during takeoff and if she is together with other dogs and ofc curiosity to see how their journey is compared to ours.
Please don’t fly your dogs pay for a babysitter 😥
No need to be terrified and please don’t compare your perception with the one of a dog. Once you’re in the air, it doesn’t matter if the transport takes 2 or 10 hours. Get medication from your vet before. If your dog is overly anxious, rather avoid the procedure but for most dogs this is perfectly fine. This is NOT a human.
poor baby, its so dark in there. but is having camera inside the crate allowed in some airlines?
Oh gosh ! In the dark ? That's not good !
Se supone que iban en bodega con una temperatura ideal y una iluminación.. obvio que nunca fue. Van como su fueran cualquier equipaje.. terrible
I didn’t think it was bad until it went Pitch black!! Put some damn battery operated lights in there.
not once a little word of comfort from anyone :(
This must be terrifying for a dog x
how do you have that camera attached?
Is it allowed to put camera
What camera is this ? also , is this legal ? i need to travel too with my dogs soon:(
I will never put my dog on a plane. Looks terrifying 😭
@@john13arva I have a lot of family that adore my dog and she loves them too. Easy answer for me, she stays with one of them for a short time.
The problem is never the owners, anytime there is an ossue it is the owner. These people seemed to do a great job but that is why it is so important to adminster proper training to airline employees.
watched 18 secs... and then I quit... like Jail for a poor, innocent Dog
I would just give my dog a pot brownie, because I know she would be fucking terrified
^^ actually it is really important to not sedate, unfortunately. It can make the change in air pressure a lot more dangerous for their respiratory systema
You don't show the dog travelling what's the point in that.
Lights went out.
Exactly…
It littrely nothing but black screen. because they turn of the light. I rather sleep than watching blackscreen
Why is there a McDonald's cup?? 😂
I forgot her water cup in the checked in luggage, so the McDonald's cup so she could drink during the flight.
Thank you for the video! Which type of camera did you use?
A low budget "gopro" actioncam. Nothing special. I wish I had one with nightvision and longer batteri life.
Same, I'm moving back to Malaysia from China. No cabin option...T.T
What camera did you use? I want to do the same for my furbaby.
Chellam 🎉
What camera did you have?
which airline did you use?
A little light maybe and those ear muffs for the trip.
So much stress
Awwwwwww I can’t put my baby under the plane😢
they are actually in a completely separate part of the plane, they are not with luggage and it is temperature controlled the same as what you experience in flight
@@SuperJadels ok that makes me feel better. Thank you
What is you dog cage size?
I think it’s crazy that they got no light there and are in totally darkness for hours and hours I don’t think I could do it better if you take a ship
he needs a night light
Do you have to seek permission to fit a camera to the carrier?
Probably, I didn't. But I risked it because I was traveling from an EU to another EU country. And staff did see and even waved to the camera so I don't think they had a problem with it and didn't complain about it. My reasoning is that it is a public place and I don't need permission to film and upload a video filmed in public. They had ex rayed the crate just before the video starts so it didn't film any security control and it didn't show anything in the backround that I consider to be illegal to film/upload.
I would not have done it if I was traveling outside of Europe, because there I know even less about locals laws.
@@john13arva Thanks for that, interesting. We’re thinking of migrating with our kitty from the UK to Australia and wondered if we may be able to do similar, but honestly I think I’d rather not know and hope she just wasn’t stressed to hell. The quarantine in Aus would almost certainly have an issue with it anyway.
my dogs freaked out everytime we leave them 😢
Why does the video end?
Why is so much fast forwarded?
The battery died, if the video wasn't fast forward it would have been Over 1 hour long. It's fast forward when nothing is happening, who would want to watch a video of a dog in a cage for one straight hour, the video is supposed to show the journey of a dog that is over 10 kilograms traveling in cargo.
@@john13arva i would watch the whole thing. Thanks though, its still helpful. Sad the battery 🪫 died. Next time! Awesome dog! Love when it looks at the camera! 📷
complete darkness? no no no o noooooo no ah ah not for my dog, i will do everything for my small dog to travel with me on cabin.
