You are completely wrong, There is NO transponder or chip inside that key. This is a passive anti-theft system, that's why it's named "Passlock". You are correct in there being a signal required but it has nothing to do with that key, the signal comes from the Hall Effect sensor inside the ignition cylinder and it's sent as soon as the ignition is rotated. I can start GM vehicles with no key at all. Why? Because the sensor is inside the cylinder, not the key. If you get the cylinder to turn, it will fire up and stay running.
That's only true for certain years.. Most modern cars have transponders or immobilizers in the key now.. And even newer cars have a smart key system. It all depends on the make and model.
You should know.. when there is a "dotted line" around a module, it means that this is an incomplete diagram for that module. In other words, the module will have more wires going to it, but they just aren't shown here because it's not related to what system you're looking at. For example-- we know that the PCM/ ECM will have control over the injectors, etc. but it's not shown on this diagram because it's not relevant. But the fact that it's not showing everything, means they will put a 'dotted line" around the module. The "fuel pump relay" has a completed line around it, which tells you that it is showing every wire that connects to it, in this diagram.
What would be the voltage reading is ignition on and engine off?
In the wrong position you should have 12 volts on terminal 87 because you develop pressure fuel pressure

@@calholli We're talking about a specific system(PassLock) from a specific video. Wtf are you going on about?

You are absolutely correct!
Toyota cut key that’s not programmed will crank the starter but will not start.
Sounds like gibberish hurts my brain
